Procedural Generation
The Metro brings explorers to random unknown levels with unknown threats. The possibilities are nearly endless.
Use your "Journal" to document your findings in these levels. The M.E.G finds great value in accurate documentation.
Entities
There are multiple different entities you can encounter, they're all unique but have one thing in common, they do not make great friends. Beware and listen closely for any noise out of the ordinary. Save your stamina, because you're gonna need every last breath.
Defense
Some entities have weaknesses you can exploit to make an escape
Immersion
Large nonlinear levels with realistic graphics, eerie sounds from unknown sources and proximity voicechat with dynamic reverb will give you an immersive experience to write home about.
Co-op
Start your journey all alone or with a group of up to 8 players. Help eachother traverse the unknown and gather what you need to strive and survive in the backrooms.
The Hub
The Hub is your safe space, it's a seemingly infinite subterranean highway tunnel, wich has a direct connection to all levels in the form of evenly spaced doors along the walls of the tunnel. The Hub also has a permanently open door leading straight into Traders Keep, where you can trade and get contracts.
Loot, trade and craft
Scavenge each level for resources, valuables and gear. Some loot is level specific. You can use specific resources to craft certain gear to make your time in the backrooms a bit easier. You can make money by selling loot to vendors in Traders Keep and by completing contracts you get from a M.E.G operative, also in Traders Keep.
Sanity
Entities and other sources can cause your sanity to crumble, keep your sanity high by drinking almond water to withstand enitity attacks and other harmful elements.

Backrooms Society - 0.6.81
• Added an alternate crouch/slide key (Default key "C") - In case you prefer to keep sprint on "Hold" and crouch bound to "Ctrl" it can make sliding a bit difficult since you need to be sprinting to trigger a slide by crouching.
• Fixed incorrect info prompts for the new options added in v0.6.8
If you already had your crouch key changed to "C" you might have to adjust or reset your keybinds.
Backrooms Society 0.6.7
• Added a “Missed” note to the Metro expedition summary, showing any documentation elements you may have missed.

• Added reload information to the item descriptions for the Pipe Blaster, Flashlight, and Improved Miner’s Hat.
• Fixed an issue where the Pipe Blaster could disappear from the player’s hand under high network latency. (Try to avoid switching items rapidly when playing at high latency, as there may still be other instances of this issue)
• Fixed a crafting duplication exploit.
• Removed jack-o’-lanterns from Metro level entrances.
• Adjusted item description text bounds to prevent overlapping with longer text entries.
P.S. The christmas event will stick around until the end of january.
Fixed an issue with the new metro hatch entrance spawning outside the map.
Potential fix for clients sometimes getting stuck on the expedition summary screen.
Backrooms Society 0.6.15
-Added crossroad signs close to the central crossroad on level 9
-Added road name signs close to the halfway mark of each road
-Fixed watchers being unable to pass through some doors in metro levels
-Moved the location of some skinstealer nests on level 9
-Small audio adjustments to death rat scream
-Volume adjustments to the sound effects when unlocking the outpost gate on level 9
-Added a shortcut cave passage to one of the longest and most empty tunnels on level 2.6
-Added a temporary failsafe for the lost documents objective on level 9 - If for some reason the documents would fail to spawn at the given location (incredibly small chance) the failsafe should kick in after 30 minutes and automatically give the player the documents.
For those of you who are still looking for the treasure added in the last small update - the first hint is located somewhere in The Hub. :)
Something I forgot to add in the 0.6 patch notes - All level descriptions have been rewritten to better fit the games version of the levels.
Backrooms Society 0.6.1
-Fixed Level 9 journal notes updating on the wrong step of the location calculator process
-Smilers should now break streetlamps
-Some UI tweaks to Level Info Screens
-Fixed padding issues with some contract texts
-Tweaked Improved miners hat light to make it less of an eyesore in the sewers and around water
-Fixed pathing through frontdoors for the entities that can fit
-Hopefully fixed clients in some cases spawning where they died
-Added a small secret treasure hunt with two new suits dedicated to some very special people.
• Fixed bug that made the game unable to create new savefiles for inventory/storage.
• Fixed "exploration status" displaying double the actual exploration percentage in metro levels.
• Completely reworked the backend logic for selecting/creating new characters to make it more reliable.
To all players who spent a long time in-game yesterday and couldn't save/load their inventory, I sincerely apologize, it should work fine now. :)
In the meantime here are some small additions and improvements.
-Steam Cloud Save
-2 New Badges are now available for turning in certain amounts of contracts
-Players will now have infinite stamina while in The Hub
-Made the radio in Traders Keep and M.E.G research facility interactable so that you can switch between the new and old soundtrack (or switch back and forth to skip songs)
-Reduced the chance of entities attacking players through cupboards/lockers and walls
-Fixed the wrong quit prompt being shown when quiting from your personal storage room
-Fixed giant birdhouse collision

Tweaked sanity drain and how often wretches attack through walls on 2.6, you should now be able to avoid it if you are careful.

Here comes the first "real" update since the launch of Early Access, I hope these changes and additions will make some parts of the game a bit more enjoyable.
•Reworked Smilers and Hounds, some new information about them has appeard in Level 0 and Level 84.
•Added a new Flashlight mechanic on "LMB" and an updated description.
•Adjustments and additions to Level 84:
-Added a hidden alternative exit to a different level
-Added some more subtle guidance towards safe zones
-Made all safe zone and exit lamp posts a bit taller
-changed some lighting and looks of the level (hopefully it also gives a bit of a performance boost)
-Added a new hidden area to the level
-Central safe zone now acts as a sort of checkpoint
•Increased Spray Paint range (can now reach the floor without crouching)
•You can now close your inventory with "Escape"!
•Removed Motion Blur (will probably add an option for it in the future)
•A few subtle UI changes.
•Added missing recipe for Completed Flower Contract and fixed the contract not being able to be stored in wallet/contract archive.
•More contracts available to pick up in Traders Keep.
•New greater Flower contract added with a special reward.
•Fixed a bug with most entities losing aggro from nowhere and some other weird behavior.
•Bacteria AI has been tweaked to make it a bit less prone to aggro from far and reduced the required time to be out of sight to lose aggro a small amount.
•Bacteria will now retreat "somewhere" after being burnt.
•"Almond Energy +" will no longer stop you mid sprint when you drink it (it will still stop your sprint once it's duration runs out)
