Steam Patch Notes
Official update history
Hi there, Platers!
It’s time to spring into action and work on those automation skills!
We have a small update going out today, primarily fixing some performance issues for our console players but also adding a few improvements to automation systems.
Firstly, Smart Grabbers now have priority when grabbing off other grabbers, allowing you to successfully pull boards off an automation line. We also fixed a bug where sinks would automatically fill with water, and adjusted the sink automation so it now uses Portioners rather than Combiners. No more accidental pots full of water when trying to pass through a sink!
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40419839/ebfd6bf8ec3bc3f33beeabec795436cb704e2253.gif"]
This means you should be able to use one sink for multiple automation setups
We’re excited to see what you guys can cook up with these changes, so be sure to let us know what you think after giving it a go!
Check out the full patch notes below!
Patch Notes:
Fix bug with some languages which was causing slow performance and crashes
Sinks, Milk Dispensers and Ice Dispensers no longer automatically fill things placed on them; you can now use portioners to automate them
Prevent the player starting a day without enough plates to serve the largest group
Fix a bug that meant eating times were incorrect for some dishes (particularly cakes)
Fix grabber priority so that smart grabbers can grab off other grabbers as expected
Fix a bug where crashing during franchise creation would delete the save and give no franchise
Fix combiners duplicating some food, such as tacos
Fix piecemeal items not getting per-item rewards
Fix issue where swapping controller on the main menu meant that controller became locked out
Fix some networking issues on PS when players were playing on the same network
Fix a bug where some cakes would look incorrect on trays
Fix speedrun leaderboard tracking on Switch
Fix some issues with LiveSplit in-game timer
Happy plating!
The PlateUp! Team
Hi there, Platers!
We're so glad that everyone has been enjoying the Buffet update, and we wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for all the feedback about the Buffet appliance, Banquet Hall setting, and new recipes! Before working on anything new, we spent some time in the kitchen refining some of the buffet systems and fixing a few bugs. We have a small update update hot-and-ready today!
We focused on a handful of changes to help your kitchens run a little more smoothy. Customers can now split their own bowls of ice cream to take a single scoop, we added colourblind icons to chairs during preparation to show their status, and opening the options menu now un-readies you during preparation. Basic sinks now appear in the shop for all recipes when making dough, so you'll have all the extra sinks you need for those automation systems.
There's also been a slight adjustment when losing a run: saves are now deleted only once you leave the rewards screen entirely to account for crashing or accidental game closure. Reduced eating times are now actually reduced, so your customers can gobble up those hotdogs and burgers like the fast food they are. For chefs who like their runs fast, we added a Livesplit-matching timer too; it appears underneath the in-game time and uses the same rules as the Livesplit integration, but is available on all platforms.
You can read the full patch notes here.

The feedback we gathered in August is still serving as an inspiration for our team as we figure out what the next update is going to look like, but we're always hungry for new ideas! So if you have any suggestions, be sure to share them with us. We're just getting started on this one, so you'll hear from us once we have something more to share,
Happy plating!

Changes
Basic sinks now appear in the shop for all recipes when making dough

Add colourblind icons to (ghost) chairs to show their status (active, disabled, and unreachable)

When losing, saves are now deleted only once you leave the rewards screen entirely. If the game "crashes" on this screen you will retain the save from the beginning of the last day
Fix a bug where reduced eating times would not apply; this means the following eating times from the last patch now all apply correctly:
Burger has been adjusted from 0% to -25%
Hotdog has been adjusted from 0% to -25%
Fish - Fillet has been adjusted from 0% to +50%
Fish - Oyster has been adjusted from 0% to -50%
Fish - Spiny has been adjusted from 0% to +100%

Taco has been adjusted from 0% to -25%
Added a Livesplit-matching timer underneath the main speedrun timer when Always Show Timer is enabled. This uses the same rules as the Livesplit integration but is available on all platforms
Add an accessibility option to toggle weather visuals. This does not affect gameplay and the queue icon will still indicate the weather

Welcome to The Buffet.
A wide selection of new content, balance changes, seasonal fun and more!
The Buffet is live now, bringing you...
🎄Christmas Treats
It's Christmas time again, and that means elves, turkey, fairy lights, and cats wearing santa hats.
This year we're bringing back the North Pole map and introducing a brand-new seasonal setting (more on that later). On these maps, the shop will offer a treat every day, with conveyors coming back to the North Pole, and a brand-new appliance for the brand-new setting (more on that later, too).
Both settings are available as daily/weekly runs and in the setting selector during the Christmas period.

🚪🚪Banquet Hall
PlateUp's newest, largest (and double dooriest) map, the Banquet Hall is a new layout and setting.
If you want to serve as many customers as you can, as fast as you can, then this layout is for you. With an open plan, it's perfect for building big. The kitchen might be narrow, but it's easy to get into, with new double doors and a long serving hatch.
Keep your ovens hot, though, because the cold climate makes for some impatient customers.

🍲Buffets
Since the dawn of time, front-of-house staff everywhere have only dared to wonder why can't they just fetch their own food?
Wonder no longer.
The new Buffet appliance enables you to serve customers without actually doing any of the work yourself. Placing an order on the buffet will allow customers to make their own way up and serve themselves.
Be prepared for the mess, though. At least before it was only around the tables.

🔧New Mechanics
We've tweaked some old favourites.
We've twiddled some worst nightmares.
We've told customers to ignore the dirty dishes.

💰Pay What You Want
(Where you are the restaurant owner, and what you want is extra coins for cards that make dishes harder).
For too long, customers have demanded more variety, more quality, and more difficult dishes from you. That changes now.
Unless they're paying, obviously. In this patch, cards that make dishes harder now increase the price customers will pay for them.
With changes to eight base dishes, this balancing update means more money for slices of tomato, mushroom, onion, and many others.
(We even buffed Turkey Stuffing, but that's only because it's Christmas)

🥪Sandwiches
PlateUp's most-requested dish is now here!
Sandwiches are a new base main dish in this update, with a focus on serving simple ingredients as quickly as you can. Using the new piecemeal ordering system, customers will request each part of their sandwich in turn, keeping things clear and keeping you on your toes.
Pair them with buffets to create a sandwich free-for-all, stick your tables in the serving hatch for a classic sandwich bar, or serve at the table for a fancy... sandwich restaurant? The choice is yours.

🍨Ice Cream Sundaes
What better to top off your sandwiches with than some ice cream? This update brings a new base dessert dish, Ice Cream Sundaes.
Using the new piecemeal serving, customers will request scoop after scoop of ice cream, topping and sauce for you to bring.
Ice Cream Sundaes also debut the new dish variants -- when taking the Ice Cream Sundae card, you'll get a choice of two extra cards to take, letting you play exactly how you want to. You can take it easy with simple scoops, or go the extra mile and make the ice cream yourself (and charging a premium, of course).

😋Extra Helpings
We really hope you enjoy all the new content in this patch. We're looking forward to cooking up more updates, more frequently, now that most of the issues with the console versions have been kneaded out. We've got lots of ideas about what will be next out the oven, and we've been pouring over all the suggestions you gave us during the last update.
It hasn't always been the smoothest pastry this year. We made the choice to spend a lot of time on technical improvements rather than leaving problems to rise. We're glad we did (even if it was a bit under-done at first). Hopefully, now the updates are rolling, you'll all be glad, too!
While most players are reporting everything is fixed now, we've continued to look into reports of networking problems and made improvements for this patch. To make sure the experience is perfectly baked for everyone, we're pleased to announce we're working with an external partner whose expertise in porting will help us knead out any remaining lumps. Please continue to report any problems you have so we can investigate!
And finally, even more little changes:
Spaghetti and Tacos now correctly show up in Autumn settings
Grabber ordering is now reliable so that complex automation should not be affected randomly while adding new conveyors
Order delivery has been re-implemented to enable new features, such as customers taking parts of ice cream servings and allowing them to accept things while their table has something on it
Lots of outstanding bugs have been fixed, thank you for all your reports!
Adds reflections to mirrors (not enabled on Switch)
Improves pathability detection for buffets and host stands
Adds the ability to split up some item groups (currently tomato/lettuce and ice cream scoops). This means, for example, you can serve a single scoop of ice cream out of a bowl with two scoops.
Rework music implementation to fix bugs with tracks not being picked correctly during seasonal content
Fixes a bug where shoes could remain after the restaurant ended
Adds more names for Turkey restaurants
Fixes a bug where initial post could drop out of bounds
Fixes issues with mains that didn't need plates still requiring them
LiveSplit integration is now available on all PC platforms
Improves networking stability on all platforms, especially PS5 and Switch
Fixes a networking issue that could occur for larger parties on Switch
Reorganises lobby to add more space and a serving hatch to the test kitchen
Fixes some issues with player nameplates not being arranged correctly
Fixes some issues with player nameplates lingering if a player left and rejoined
Re-implements Anti Social achievement to be more reliable
Adds a card to the Witch Hut map to indicate that it uses the Enchanting Desk
Fixes some cosmetic issues
Fixes some alignment issues on desks (visually)
Fixed breadsticks having an incorrect description, and adds a +2 flat fee buff
Adds rewards for taking extra cards and serving extra ingredients:
Burgers now get +2 for being handmade, +1 for cheese and +1 per topping served
Steak now gets +1 for each of mushroom, tomato or sauces
Salad is now 4 by default and +1 for each topping
Pizza now gets +1 for mushroom and +1 for onion
Dumplings now get +1 for seaweed
Turkey now gets +1 for cranberry sauce or gravy, and +3 for stuffing
Tacos now get +1 for each of cheese, lettuce, onion and tomato
Breakfast now gets +2 for eggs and +1 for other toppings
Adds a variant card for Spaghetti which enables you to throw pasta water into the sink. Choosing the old option now gives more money per serving
Fixes an issue where cosmetic UI could be cut off in four player mode
Fixes an edge case where you could save while loading into the game and get stuck on a black screen after re-loading the game
Seasonal maps are now available in the setting selector during events, so you can play different seeds without waiting for the next day
Fixes numerous issues with speedruns on consoles, particularly to do with map reset times during the week
Fixes a bug with merging splittable items (such as taco trays) that prevented them from being combinable
Fixes a visual bug with chocolate when being looked at
Fixes text on card selection screens that incorrectly said you had reached the next level for cards you brought with you
Major Changes
This patch reworks the way all console code is implemented so that we can work on content for all platforms simultaneously going forward. Previously, adding new content meant we had to manually port it to each platform separately. This means that this patch has less gameplay content than usual, but means future gameplay patches will be much quicker to develop.
While this patch has been tested extensively, a lot of code has been rewritten and so there might be some new issues introduced. Please report any issues you find so we can get them resolved as quickly as possible. We're releasing this update first to smooth out any technical problems before we follow up with new content soon.
Significantly improved load time on all platforms
Improved performance of many systems, resulting in much better performance on all platforms, particularly in large restaurants and on Nintendo Switch. In some of our tests, we had nearly double FPS in late-game restaurants that were previously running slowly
Improved networking on all platforms, especially:
Nintendo Switch and PlayStation now use native networking for improved stability and performance
Steam now supports both Steamworks (the default) and Photon (for PC-only crossplay with other PC platforms, such as Windows Store). You can enable PC-crossplay mode in the multiplayer menu to invite friends via Discord and play with friends on other (PC) platforms.
Improvements throughout the netcode should make the game more responsive in multiplayer on all platforms
Weekly speedruns and leaderboards are now supported on all platforms
PC platforms support Discord integration if you have Discord installed; you can see more detail about what people are playing in their status, and you can invite people directly over Discord
Added support for the Nintendo Switch's native on-screen keyboard (e.g. when entering seeds)
Players who are spectating in multiplayer should now show up at the bottom of the screen
Fixed some issues with achievements, particularly dish-based achievements. In previous versions, only the first dish type you served in a run was being tracked correctly
Re-implemented how saves are implemented on all console platforms to improve performance and stability. This should prevent any stutters and freezes during saving, such as when starting a new day or changing outfits
Improved resolution on Nintendo Switch
Minor Changes
Fixed an issue where rushes were incorrectly based on the number of customers rather than groups. This should make rush cards (and turbo rushes) significantly easier to deal with when you have larger group sizes.
Improved collision of outside things to prevent cases such as: letters getting stuck on the reroll option, wall decorations getting stuck when placed outside, and the reroll indicator showing up at the wrong time
Improved text sizing in multiple places in the lobby to make it easier to read
Dish difficulty ratings have been adjusted to better reflect how hard the dishes are for new players
Fixed an issue where some ingredients weren't sold in the shop correctly after being added to your menu
The game no longer requires water as an ingredient in pies, so you can throw away your sink if you don't need it
Fixed an issue where booking desks could show up on blueprint desks even though you already had one
You can now use the booking desk in practice mode to spawn in more cats
Combiners and portioners are now upgrade-cyclable
Fixed some cases where UI elements would shoot upwards and off the screen
Witch hat cosmetics have been resized to prevent collision with customer orders
Improved detection of when sinks are needed to prevent more cases where the game would require you to keep a sink unnecessarily
Fixed a case where the game would spawn in two sets of plates when only one was required
Fixed issues with kicking players
Pinging blueprint desks now pops up the info for the appliance being offered
Fixed a bug where Please Wait could be unlocked in practice mode
Fixed a bug where some appliances could cause graphical bugs when being placed
Improvements to some interactions to make it easier to target appliances such as the start practice mode and reroll options
Added small colliders to fixed seed and speedrun boards to make them easier to interact with
Fixed an issue where some items, such as cookie trays, could be combined with their raw ingredients to refill them
Fixed an issue where the seed-affects-everything icon wouldn't display in some cases
Fixed a bug where wall appliances could be rotated even when they were supposed to be fixed in place
Removed the chop requirement from tacos, which meant you would be offered unnecessary appliances in shops
Prevented mandarins from being placed in prep stations, to fit better with other splitable things and prevent a bug where they could be infinitely replenished
Fixed an issue with the Blueprint Info Only When Pinged option
Chef Twitch integration no longer clears the player queue for each new restaurant
Fixed an issue where players who were joining but not in-game would be accounted for in difficulty calculations
Fixed some crashes associated with joining or leaving a new session
