About the Game
Voyagers of Nera is a cooperative survival-crafting game for up to 10 players set in a vast ocean full of ancient ruins and diverse biomes.
Nera is a magical ocean world full of beauty, magic, and danger. You are an Echo, descendants of the long-extinct protectors of this world. It falls to you to sail across the seas, defeat the monstrous creatures of the Deep, and awaken the spirits before they fade away forever.
SET SAIL ACROSS THE SEAS
As a solo player or a group, sail to distant islands or surf across the waves. Dive beneath the surface to find rare resources and hidden treasure, but beware what lurks in the depths…

SURVIVE A MAGICAL OCEAN WORLD
Your journey will take you to fantastical biomes like an island archipelago formed around a fallen colossus or coral cliffs that tower to the sky. To survive, you’ll have to build mighty seaside bases, craft new weapons, and awaken powerful nature spirits as you battle monstrous creatures both above and below the waves.

AWAKEN POWERFUL SPIRITS
Lost spirits are scattered throughout the world, hiding from the monsters that prey on them. When you rescue them, they will help you in return by teaching you crafting recipes and new magical abilities.
Each biome was once the home of a powerful Elder Spirit, but they are now scattered and lost. Find their lost shards and awaken them to inherit their incredible powers and restore the world of Nera.

BUILD THE ULTIMATE ISLAND BASE
Build growing, customizable island villages with an expressive construction system. Each base you build lets you refine resources, cook meals, and craft new gear - it also serves as a sanctuary for the spirits of the world. Build amenities to attract and protect them. In return, they will magically power your settlement, unlocking more powerful crafts.

VOYAGE ALONE OR WITH FRIENDS
Voyagers is a great solo experience and even better with friends! Play with up to 10 people on a server, add new players any time and contribute through different roles. Whether you like to adventure, craft, fight, or build, every choice helps your group progress.
For multiplayer, you can host a game for others to join, set up your own dedicated server for free, or rent a server from a range of approved partners.

LAUNCHING INTO EARLY ACCESS
We believe that all great games need player feedback, and we’ve been playtesting every two weeks since mid 2025. Early Access is our chance to get feedback from a lot more players, which will help us make the game better and better. We’d love to hear your thoughts through our in-game survey, on Steam, and in our Discord. To everyone who’s already played, thank you so much for supporting us and helping us improve the game!

Hello Voyagers!
We’re very excited to release our latest patch: Tend, Build, Thrive.
We are also very excited to share that Voyagers of Nera is on sale, from now until April 13th. Snag the base game for 34% off, or the Founder’s Pack for 20% off during this time.
We also have Twitch Drops active right now! Watch any Voyagers of Nera streamer to earn the Twitch Mana Flare, Infused Skimmer, Infused Sail and the new Infused Watering Can! Or subscribe / give a gift sub to earn the Infused Glider.
Now let’s get to the patch notes!
We’ve always wanted players to feel like they are rescuing spirits from a dangerous, dynamic world and bringing them back to a Sanctuary you built. To bring us closer to that feeling, this update adds two of the top player requests: Weather and Farming. In your travels, you’ll encounter fog, rain, and storms that bring new life to the world - just look out for the lightning! And you’ll find seeds for all kinds of plants, fruits, and trees to bring back to your base, letting you cultivate bountiful crops. We’ve also heavily reworked our Sanctuary mechanics! As you invest in your base and build a safe haven for the Spirits and yourself, you’ll be rewarded with powerful buffs and benefits for rest.
Alongside these big gameplay updates, we’ve made significant improvements to combat feel based off of player feedback, performance optimizations, and a lot of quality of life changes to make building forward bases easier.
Check out the full changes below!
🌱Farming
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/f5795d5312f8f06a8e96eb8f8fc416a80843ec15.png"]
Farming has been one of our top requested features from players on our Feature Upvote Board, and we're so excited to finally add it to the game! While exploring and gathering in the world, any plant collected will have a chance to drop a seed. Bring this seed home, plant it, water and tend to it, and over time it’ll grow into a harvestable plant. Resource respawn times have been adjusted with farming in mind.
Farm Plots
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/68d37d7c9c499f470f9110479b3aa314cc07d314.png"]
There will be multiple types / sizes of farm plots.
Stone Planter
This is a small planter that holds 1 plant
Small Farm Plot
A small wooden farm plot that holds 4 plants
Large Farm Plot
A larger wooden farm plot that holds 8 plants
Tree Plot
A sturdy wooden farm plot that holds 1 tree
Types of plants that can be farmed
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/1215e8c3aefbf2fa132b0927b65698ce8c4d301c.png"]
You’ll be able to farm nearly any type of plant you can think of – vegetables, fruits and even biome-specific trees!
Plants sometimes may drop golden seeds, which will have a higher yield!
Watering and Water Mechanics
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/e44ba76baf767f56a18fd79346319483d359168a.png"]
Plants require fresh water. Fresh water sources can be found near the base of waterfalls, and collected with a watering can. Overtime, unlock upgraded watering cans with improved water capacity, higher durability, and even higher spray radius to water more plants at once. As you progress in the game, you’ll unlock new buildables that will help with water production.
Fresh Water
There are two waterfalls per biome.
Approach a waterfall and right-click while holding a watering can to collect fresh water.
Watering Cans
There are 3 watering cans currently in the game. Watering cans improve in durability, water capacity, spray radius and watering speed.
Wooden Watering Can
Unlocked in the Embrace.
Ceramic Watering Can
Unlocked in the Reef.
Greatwood Watering Can
Unlocked in the Greatwood.
Water Refinement
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/da7d81e7035d7ffc18c3d3f01a4ff12f60f6a7dd.png"]
No more chasin' waterfalls once you unlock these buildables that produce fresh water within the base.
Desalinator
When placed on salt water, it will gradually filter fresh water for Farming, as well as produce salt as a by-product for cooking.
Spirit Well
Powered by magical spirits, this buildable can be placed anywhere within a Sanctuary, and produces endless fresh water!
Weather Interaction
Farm plots will be automatically watered on rainy days.
🌩️Weather
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/8f9803ba5f2703d3ba6c975d8e2bf15bf2eb1f98.png"]
Weather was also one of our most highly requested features. We’ve always wanted the world of Nera to feel alive and different - weather and environmental effects have a huge impact on this. One day it could be smooth sailing and exploring under clear skies, the next day you might be exploring through the fog, not quite sure where exactly you left those Construct Cores.
Weather States
The world will cycle between those states, tracking which weathers you’ve had and trying to make sure you have a good balance and that you aren’t stuck in a perpetual rainstorm!
Fully clear day
Blue skies, sometimes some cloud cover; this is the typical weather that you experience in Nera today
Overcast
Full cloud cover, bright
Foggy
Sometimes this could be heavy or light; reduced visibility
Rainy
This can be heavy or light; perfect ambiance for a mana tea while watching the rain water your farming plots!
Thunderstorm
This is a heavy storm; careful though, lightning can strike at any time!
Weather Settings
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/4d9954f4cdef8a961c6c7f0234b122b47f6db733.png"]
Weather Quality Settings
We have introduced a Weather Density setting. If you want to keep weather effects active, but find the visuals too intense, use this setting to tune the visuals.
Weather Server Toggle
We have introduced a way to disable Weather via a Server Toggle. Configure this in the Load Game screen by selecting the pencil icon on the save slot, and selecting the ‘Advanced Settings’ menu. Disabling Weather will cause all days to be sunny.
😇Sanctuary Updates
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/97df5e812df0a1d86781afcb50f5b3dc536493d9.jpg"]
We have made significant updates to how Sanctuaries work in order to reward investing into the base, as well as make it rewarding to build any kind of item. All cosmetic items now have a Sanctuary Point value – we call these Comfort Buildables. As you build more Comfort Buildables and Spirit Amenities, your Sanctuary points increase; and when they hit certain point thresholds, you will unlock special buffs for your base known as Sanctuary Benefits. We have also made adjustments to the Spirit Anchor and its empowerment mechanics.
Spirit Anchor Changes
Power provided to stations is now 1:1 with the Spirit Anchor Level, and is no longer dependent on how many buildables have been built. Upgrades have been simplified on the Spirit Anchor – now upgrading the Spirit Anchor will grant increased Spirit Anchor Power Level, Spirit Anchor Limit, and Sanctuary Radius. Other buffs and benefits have been moved to the Sanctuary Benefits and Spirit Amenities.
Sanctuary Benefits
As you increase your Sanctuary Points, you’ll unlock more buffs. Along the Sanctuary Points track there are both Sanctuary benefits, and improved Rejuvenation buffs. Sanctuary Buffs are global effects within the Sanctuary Radius, such as removing Stamina costs while in the Sanctuary radius.
Sanctuary Benefits Tiers
Humble Shelter
Spirit Sanctuary - Suppress enemy spawns within Sanctuary radius
Cleansing Aura - Slowly cleanse corruption within Sanctuary radius
Quiet Refuge
Gain Rejuvenation I after Resting
Spirit Haven
Gain Rejuvenation II after Resting
Living Sanctuary
Vim and Vigor - No stamina costs while in the Sanctuary Radius
Sacred Retreat
Gain Rejuvenation III after Resting
Flourishing Grove
Strong Back - No encumbrance in the Sanctuary Radius
Garden of Nera
Gain Rejuvenation IV after Resting
Rest Mechanic
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/e7ce3f050cc2f907656bc3ad35fb126b9aa54a16.jpg"]
Now you can rest during the day. Resting will fully heal you and restore your mana, as well as grant a Rejuvenation buff. There are multiple tiers of Rejuvenation buff, which can be accessed by improving your Sanctuary.
Rejuvenation I
+25% Stamina Regeneration for 20 minutes.
Rejuvenation II
+30% Stamina Regeneration for 25 minutes.
Rejuvenation III
+30% Stamina Regeneration for 30 minutes.
Stay nourished by food 10% longer.
Rejuvenation IV
+40% Stamina Regeneration for 40 minutes.
Stay nourished by food 20% longer.
Functional Spirit Amenities
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/cf3654fd9b224858744829452258347b459c92b1.jpg"]
Previously, Spirit Amenities were purely cosmetic, decorative stations that were built to attract Spirits to the base – they looked special but didn’t really follow through in any significant way. We wanted to give more impact to the amenities - after all, if the Spirits think they’re so great, you should too!
Spirit Feasting Table
When placed within a Sanctuary, food buffs no longer decay for players within the Sanctuary Radius.
Spirit Hotspring
When within your Sanctuary, interact with this Hot Spring to receive a potent Health Regeneration buff for a short time.
Spirit Totem
Interact with this totem to commune with the Spirits and receive a potent Mana Regeneration buff for a short time.
Spirit Tree
This magical tree harnesses the power of the wind and earth to significantly increase the growth rate of any plants nearby.
Ancient Construct
When within your Sanctuary, interact with this Construct to channel its protective energy and cleanse corruption.
👻Spirits Spawning in the Base
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/42847cdec0e03ed0d356518e1c78a418a262e04e.png"]
We wanted the base to feel like a safe haven for Spirits, and that you would be able to be surprised and delighted by seeing them in the base. However, only seeing them on Spirit Amenities felt pretty limiting – now Spirits will appear all over your base, taking over any furniture that looks unoccupied and comfy!
Spirit Companions have also come out to play! Expect to see Cindertails, Tiderays, Skylacers and Terratoises hanging out in your base as well!
🔥Fuel
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/0a078f0088e91739eab7eee01e908ba290ffaa28.png"]
We wanted to add more depth of management to crafting and refinement, so we have introduced a fuel mechanic. Stations that are powered by fire like the Campfire, Kiln, Smithing Station, Alchemy Station and Desalinator require fuel to operate.
Fuel Types
Wood
Wood harvested from trees. Burns for 30 seconds per piece.
Charcoal
A more advanced fuel than wood. Burns for 1 minute per piece.
Blaze Coal
An enhanced coal that has improved efficiency. Burns for 5 minutes per piece.
Mana Coal
A vastly improved fuel type infused with magical essence. Burns for 10 minutes per piece.
⚔️Combat Responsiveness
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/2d5837200c2a75789e443eb3a44d22fa898e6765.png"]
We have gotten a lot of feedback that attacks felt unresponsive - players locked down by lengthy animations, attacks were slow and cumbersome, and the actual hit impact was unsatisfying. We have made significant changes based off of this feedback and we’re excited to hear what you think! We focused on increasing the fluidity between attacking and moving, increasing the responsiveness of pressing the button → the attack happening, and amping up the sounds and visuals when striking, blocking and parrying to make it more satisfying.
Attacks
Significantly decreased the amount of time it takes to transition back to movement after performing an attack
Reduced amount of time it takes to transition from movement → attacking, so that initial attacks out of movement feel more responsive
Moved attack translation (aka your character moving towards the target) at the beginning of the attack, so that attacking feels less jarring and does not miss enemies as frequently
Increased attack speed of Spear and Sword / Club weapons
Allowed player to move while attacking underwater - no more being outrun by those little fish!
Added SFX for critical hits
Blocking and Parrying
Reduced amount of time it takes to deploy the shield, resulting in more responsive blocking
Enhanced VFX when blocking and parrying so that it is more clear that blocking is working
Added escalating parry SFX to make parrying multiple times in a row more satisfying
Player Damage Effects
Improved VFX on the player when they are taking damage to make it more clear
Improved logic on damage vignette so that flashes only when players take significant damage, and pulses persistently when they are low health
🌀Increased Spirit Anchor Limit + Teleporter unlocks sooner
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/bc72ff421ab5a3fb978d72213f582b51e019c84b.png"]We have increased the amount of Spirit Anchors that can be placed. Now you will begin with the ability to place 2 Spirit Anchors at the beginning of the game, and this will increase by 2 at the Empowerment level at the end of each Biome.
Additionally, Teleporters will now be able to be unlocked earlier. They will be available at level 8 in the Knowledge Tree, and have been moved to a Spirit Encounter that is much earlier in the Reef.
We hope this will make it easier to build more bases across the biomes, as well as address feedback that teleportation comes too late in the game.
❤️🩹Quality of Life Changes
[table equalcells="1" colwidth=""]Moved Teleporter unlock from level 14 → level 8, and moved to a sooner Spirit Encounter
More Hair Color options have been added to the game
Increased the base swim speed
Increased base walking and sprint speed
Buff UI rework - cleaner more compact presentation
Buff Details panel in Inventory allows you to see what buffs / debuffs are on you, what they do, and also see food slots contents and other important info
Enhanced visuals in Deep Zone
Moved Spires out of the water and improved visuals of their radius to make more interesting POIs
Updated glider trial to make more interesting traversal and to fix up areas that were frustrating
All torches now grant warmth for consistency
All players on a server now receive a notification when a Spirit is rescued and what it unlocked

Hotfix Patch
We are hotfixing some performance optimizations that we hope will improve baseline performance for most players.
New Version
The new version is 0.16.8.42669
Changes
Through diagnosing with players, we have identified Shadows cast by Decorative Lights as one of the largest contributors to poor performance. As such, we have a set of changes that we hope will provide better performance with similar fidelity, as well as more granular quality settings.
We have changed the default lighting settings in the game, and added two new graphics setting options: Decorative Light Shadows and Decorative Light Shadow Quality.
- Decorative Light Shadows will default to Off. This will only affect lights placed by players via the building system, and will not impact any other lighting sources in the game (example: sunlight).
- When 'Decorative Light Shadows' is off, player-placed lights will provide light but not cast shadows.
- If 'Decorative Light Shadows' is off, the Decorative Light Quality cannot be modified
- If 'Decorative Light Shadows' is on, the Decorative Light Quality can be modified
- There are now low, medium and high settings for Decorative Light Quality (previously, this was only controlled via the setting for overall Shadow quality)
While there will be some noticeable visual differences (lights may appear overall brighter, there will be less 'dark' spots / less contrast between lit and unlit spots in the base), we believe this still provides a bright, cozy base while dramatically improving the performance.
However, if you have a strong computer and can handle it, you are able to toggle Decorative Light Shadows back on to maintain the way the lighting looked before this change. And now additionally, if you want shadows but feel performance is suffering while in the base due to lighting, you can tweak the Decorative Light Shadow Quality setting and hopefully improve your performance.
If you have any feedback about these changes, let us know!

Hotfix Patch
We mentioned in our prior blog post that we were going to ship out multiple performance-focused hotfixes as we get the changes in. This small patch includes some of our inital peformance fixes, as well as some bug fixes for some other critical issues that were occurring after the last patch.
New Version
The new version is 0.16.8.42362
Patch Changes
Performance Improvements
- Simplification Pass to Environmental Collision - Instead of having collision exactly match every environment's shape, we made them simpler shapes to make them less processing intensive, which should improve performance. We tried to ensure every area was solid, but if you see yourself with some really wild invisible collision, falling off of things you expected to stay on, or getting stuck in places more than usual, please send us a bug report and we will fix it up!
- Enemies in Encounters now stagger their spawn - This should resolve in less things happening in a single frame, and thus having less impact on processing and better performance, especially when traveling around the map. If you notice any issues with enemies not spawning when expected, or encounters not completing properly, please let us know!
- Improvements to rendering on giant trees in the Greatwood, lowering cost to render
Bug Fixes
- Items left in the Mounting Plaque and Tidal Resonator will now properly remain between sessions
- Translations for various UI in the game (tutorial pop-ups, item tooltips, lore journals) will now be properly translated instead of displaying English
Remaining Known Bugs
There are still some remaining known bugs that we will work on fixing ASAP:
- Socketed building pieces may not rotate correctly with blueprints.
- Some buildable items still cannot be crafted from storage.
- Certain Audio and Display settings do not apply correctly.
- Interacting with the Bullwog while it is moved can cause a crash.
- Controller ‘A’ button cannot currently be rebound.
- Duplicate-binding warnings do not appear for controller keybinds.
Dedicated Server Players
Make sure to restart your servers to grab the latest update, otherwise players on the new version will be unable to connect.
We hope that this patch will make the game feel much more smooth to play and have a higher average FPS. However, we still have a lot of performance fixes we are working on - stay tuned for more updates soon!
If you are having performance issues, you can help us diagnose them by joining our beta test. Find information here!

Whether you want a sleek scouter to zip across the ocean, a warship fit to finally take on the Stalker, or just a cozy barge to act as a home away from home — you will be able to create it with this update!
Build your boats from the ground up by combining various Hulls, Sails, Outriggers, and Deck pieces to make a ship fit for voyaging.
Add different stations like Spirit-Powered Cannons to fend off the enemies of The Deep, magical devices that summon Spirits to boost the speed of your boat, or simply a Mariner's Mat to allow you to rest and respawn while out voyaging.
Almost every decoration in the game can be built on the boat to allow you to create boats that feel truly unique and custom to what you need!
⚓Boat Gameplay Updates
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/3913439201ffddd0d57737eed638f9bd5b0beac0.png"]
We have made gameplay updates to the Boat so that it feels more worthwhile to build on and invest in.
Hulls all have different health and speed values.
Sails can be freely placed anywhere on the boat, and adding more sails (up to a cap) will increase the speed of your vessel.
Boat health has been buffed across the board, so boats are more resilient to enemy attacks.
Patch Kits have been buffed so they feel more effective!
Sunken Boats can now be rescued and re-surfaced. So even if your ship sinks, you'll be able to restore it with all of its attachments and storage contents!
🔥Elemental Paths and Spirit Companions
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/6ee54b5fda30c7c386359f9d18ba99064bbd037d.png"]
Attune with an Elemental Path and strengthen your bond with your Spirit Companion to grow in magical power and craft exciting builds tailored to your playstyle!
Attuning will grant you a Spirit Companion, and it will level up with you as you fight, gather, craft and explore.
As it levels up and your elemental bond grows, you will be be able to choose between different traits and stat bonuses.
All of the elements offer a specialization. So whether you're a brave fighter, a stalwart tank, or a tireless support, you'll find something exciting within one of these Elemental Paths.
Each Elemental Path has sub-classes, which offer different playstyles within various gameplay archetypes.
Mix and match different traits and stats to create a build that fits how you want to play!
✨ Magical Mayhem
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/c3284fb61861cfca9adfab68ef2bcaedeb508592.png"]
We have made sweeping changes to our Abilities. Spells can now be cast much more frequently at the cost of Mana and have exciting gameplay mechanics that tie into your Elemental Path.
Collect Raw Mana in the world and craft mana regeneration items to use powerful abilities.
Abilities apply or interact with Keywords, which are bonuses given through the Elemental Path. Mix and match abilities based off of what Path you are on to create potent combos!
Added new abilities and re-worked existing ones to address feedback and and make abilities more powerful and impactful across the board!
🏆 New Encounter Types: Primordial Trials
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/9f2bfb5f1b37391621d5945e8091a9df8f0f8b06.png"]
We have added entirely new Encounter types to the world; these will challenge different skills like Skimming, Gliding and Marksmanship. These special trials will award you Primordial Motes, which will allow you to continue progressing down the Elemental Path.
We don't want to give too much away about these before you discover them yourself, so this is all we're saying! 🤫
🖥️ New Ways to Play
We have added Single Player and Offline Play options, so whether you just want to go it alone, or play on-the-go, you'll be able to now!
🙆 Single Player Mode
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/710b214388dca32189bdc4884e105b652239ef81.png"]
We now have a Single Player mode, which can be played without needing to be connected to external services.
Characters made when connected to Steam and playing in Single Player mode will be able to transfer seamlessly to a multiplayer game.
While in Single Player mode, the game can also be paused by opening the Settings menu. No more accidental death while you go get a snack!
Offline Play Mode
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/4a4a0b2371d330e99d37d562071376c39fe636c7.png"]
We also support Offline play now - you no longer need to be logged into Steam to be able to play!
Characters made while not connected to Steam will be specific to offline play, and won't be able to transfer to a multiplayer session.
☁️ Steam Cloud Saves
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/62e8ccdb4415af1fa65d2f57fa4c9bfcf486950c.png"]
Cloud Saves are now available, allowing you to continue your progress from any Windows PC you want to play from!
⚠️Cloud Saves will not be cross-compatible with Steam Deck at this time. This will come in a future update
⚠️This will not be available on Day 1 of the patch. This will activate a day or so after the patch, to ensure everyone is on the correct version.
This is the end of the overview section; to learn more about all of the details in the patch, continue reading!
📝Detailed Changes
This section will describe all of the nitty gritty details about the new features and how they work, as well as cover other smaller features and quality of life improvements.
⛵ Boat Building, Customization and Gameplay Mechanics
🚤 Build the Boat
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/af45a69b48439665dc5ea7a0992abe0ba04cbff3.png"]
Boats are now separated into modular components that can be mixed and matched:
Hulls (the base of the boat)
Sails
Bows
Outriggers (sides of the boat)
Awnings / Structures
Boats have sockets that allow you to customize different pieces to go into the boat.
These sockets work like the land-building mode - so if you left-click on the socket visual, it will show you which exact pieces are allowed to be socketed to it!
The Sail can be freely placed anywhere on the boat, and multiple sails (up to a cap) can be built to make the boat go faster!
Boat parts are in the Knowledge Tree - progress through the game to unlock them!
⛴️ Build ON the Boat
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/68244690ca1e3f19c15a453d5149ebb2082a7e08.jpg"]
In addition to being able to build and expand the boat, we really wanted to allow creative expression just like we have in our build system.
Each Boat has its own build volume, which is displayed as a yellow cube around the boat
Buildables that preview as yellow and are within the boat's build volume will attach to that boat; if they will not attach to the boat, they will appear as the typical blue color.
There is a Toggle in the bottom-right hand side of the screen which defaults to on, Attach to Boat. While activated, any buildables placed within the boat building volume will attach to the boat. When deactivated, items can be built near and around the boat without attaching to it.
Almost every decoration and many stations can be built on the boat
You can use the 'Show Boat Compatible' checkbox in the Build Menu to only see pieces that can be built on the boat
There is a Buildable Limit, represented by the UI in the upper-left; and a maximum speed limit the boat can go based off of both sails, speed booster stations, and any abilities.
⚓ New Special Boat Stations
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/c0a3f26ceb71c7b37251d4a70c105fd5f74fee74.png"]
Along with cosmetics, we wanted to add some fun and functional pieces to the boat to open up new gameplay opportunities.
New Stations
Tidal Resonator
Powered by Tide Crystals (which are crafted at the Manaforge). Activate to speed up the boat by summoning spirit manta rays!
This can be placed on land as well, but when not placed on a boat it is purely decorative.
Wooden Cannon
Craft ammo and shoot things - but beware, these will deal friendly-fire damage!
You can also launch allies out of the cannon!
This can be placed and used on land as well.
Flame Cannon
A more powerful upgrade for the cannon, with a little flame spirit sitting on top!
Sailing Stone
Activate this station to allow both speed and turning to be controlled from the boat rudder.
This can be placed on land as well, but when not placed on a boat it is purely decorative.
Mariner's Mat
A boat-specific bedroll that allows you to set a respawn or rest point on the boat.
🪦 Rescue / Revive the Boat
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/3913439201ffddd0d57737eed638f9bd5b0beac0.png"]
Now that boats can be so much more valuable, we thought it made sense to offer opportunities to rescue and restore your boat.
Boats will now sink in their position when they reach 0 health.
Boats can be revived with a Surfacing Glyph.
The Basic Surfacing Glyph will resurface a boat at half its health.
The Improved Surfacing Glyph will resurface a boat at full health.
Surfacing Glyphs can be unlocked in the Knowledge Tree, and crafted at the Manaforge.
When the boat has sunk, you can dive down to retrieve critical items out of the stations and storage.
Sunken boats will stick around for 1 hour. If you don't rescue it by then, the boat will be lost!
The boat can also be forcibly scuttled by interacting with it, or by right-clicking a sunken boat on the map.
Scuttling the boat will lose all items.
⚖️ Boat Balance and Quality of Life
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/2172480e2cc525848615982b76029d37d134bbff.png"]
Boat health has been increased and different size hulls have varying amounts of max health.
Scouter Hull: 100 HP
Skiff Hull: 150 HP
Barge Hull: 250 HP
Boat Hulls have different max speeds (i.e. speed if 3+ sails are built).
Scouter Hull: 800 speed
Skiff: 750 speed
Barge: 700 speed
Boats now have visible HP bars, which will appear on the left-hand side of the screen any time you are standing on the boat. No more trying to guess how much damage they've taken!
Boats can now be deleted via the Delete option in Build Mode.
☠️ What about old boats on previous save files?
For folks who have been playing and already have boats on your server, your old boats should still be present and continue to work. However, they will not be able to be built upon. And if they get destroyed, they will not be able to be resurrected.
We recommend anyone with a previous boat to delete it (which should now be possible in build mode!)
🌍 Companion Spirits, Elemental Path, and Spirit Abilities
🔥 Elemental Path
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/6ee54b5fda30c7c386359f9d18ba99064bbd037d.png"]
Choose an Elemental Path, and earn experience towards Attunement.
This choice can be changed at any time while at the Spirit Anchor.
Each path has its own tracked XP, so you'll be able to level them individually!
Each Elemental Path has a unique set of mechanics, traits, and stat bonuses unique to that playstyle. For example:
Path of Earth
Overall Focus
Defense, Carry Weight, Gathering
Special Mechanics
Guard: Gain stacks when attacking or blocking. Grants defense per stack. Lose stacks if hit without blocking.
Guard is represented as Stones floating around the player.
Path of Fire
Overall Focus
Damage, Lifesteal, Crafting Utility
Special Mechanics:
Ignite: Chance to ignite enemies on hit, causing them to take damage over time
Ignite is represented as the character being lit on fire.
Path of Water
Overall Focus
Healing, Mana Restoration, Water Utility (skimming/swimming/oxygen)
Special Mechanics
Ripple: Stacks when attacking enemies and perfect dodging. Upon reaching maximum stacks, triggers Cascade
Refer to the general section of the patch notes to learn more about Perfect Dodge.
Cascade: Regenerates mana over time when active
Cascade is represented as a water visual around the player when it triggers.
Path of Wind
Overall Focus
Attack Speed, Crit, Stamina, Movement Speed
Special Mechanics
Mark: Hitting enemies places a Mark on them; Marked enemies take more damage from all sources.
Mark is represented with a visual on the enemy (like a green target).
As you level, unlock access to traits and stat bonuses.
Minor abilities have been removed from findable spirits in the world and incorporated into the Attunement system.
⬆️ Leveling Up in Attunement
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/7385a4ff72ce8d33d12c2d15812e89b28ec4922c.png"]
As you play, everything that gives you XP will also contribute Attunement XP towards your current Elemental Path. There are also Attunement XP items that can be crafted, or found in Magical Chests; when consumed, they will grant Attunement XP towards your current path.
Faded Attuning Shard:
+200 Attunement XP
Attuning Shard:
+450 Attunement XP
Attuning Crystal:
+1450 Attunement XP
🗿 Elemental Shrines
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/cfa19327a0aea96db2b65d6a940cfc27ee8d82e5.png"]Find and approach these Shrines with the Spirit Companion of the same element to gain a large boost of Attunement XP.
🏃♀️Primordial Trials
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/f1e03c41d3e30ce56463e37f5d28e5450a7e896f.png"]
To continue to level up the Companion / Elemental Path, you will need Primordial Motes. These can be found in special challenges around the biomes, which are marked on the map with the symbol seen in the tooltip.
Primordial Motes are rare - make sure you are using them on the Path you want to level!
You will earn more throughout the game as you progress through the world.
🔨 New Utility Unlocks
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/99257a320b3f96937c21e90165fa7e2cbbeebc5d.jpg"]
There are new Spirits in the Reef and Greatwood that will give you the following rewards:
Reef Biome
+4 Inventory Slots
+1 Trinket Slot
Greatwood Biome
+4 Inventory Slots
⚖️ Updates and Balance Changes to Spirit Abilities
As a result of the changes with mana and Elemental Path abilities, we made updates to several of the Spirit Abilities so that they feel better balanced and more rewarding.
Nera's Bounty
Now collects any resource type around it, not just tools-based ones; increase the spell's radius by raising your character's Potency stat.
Spiritfire
Ignites nearby enemies, and increases weapon damage for 20s
Tailwind
Increase base critical hit chance, movement speed, and attack speed (previously it was just movement speed)
(New) Torrent
Send out a large wave in front of you that heals allies and damages + knocks back enemies.
(New) Flame Dart
Throw a small dart made of flame that damages enemies. If it hits a wall, it leaves behind a warming flame. Can ignite enemies.
💧Mana
There is a new player resource in the game: Mana. Mana is an attribute, like health or stamina, that is used to cast abilities. Every Spirit Ability (minus Elder Spirit Abilities) costs some amount of mana to cast. Mana is regenerated through consumables / crafted items, or through certain abilities in the Path of Water, or by being in the radius of the Spirit Anchor.
New Consumables
Mana Tea - Crafted at the Campfire
Mana Tonic - Crafted at the Alchemy Station
Basic Mana Potion - Crafted at the Alchemy Station
Improved Mana Potion - Crafted at the Alchemy Station
Ability Balance
Abilities now have much shorter cooldown, and much higher efficacy across the board.
✨ New Magical Loot Chest
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/06921c4fb82805d51dcd3d5f35c4701248ab124d.png"]There is a new chest type that can be found in the biome that contains magical items, like Raw Mana, Attuning Shards to help level up the Spirit Companions, Mana Tea, and Mana Potions.
⚙️ General System Updates
☁️ Steam Cloud Saves
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/62e8ccdb4415af1fa65d2f57fa4c9bfcf486950c.png"]
Our game now utilizes Steam Cloud Saves! Now you will be able to access your saves from any Windows PC, as long you are logged into your Steam account.
⚠️ Cloud Saves will not be cross-compatible with Steam Deck at this time. This will come in a future update
⚠️This will not be available on Day 1 of the patch. This will activate a day or so after the patch, to ensure everyone is on the correct version.
🙆 Single Player / Offline Play Mode
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/f5cc90053b177063bab0d4f19c0b12285106ee08.png"]
We have heard a lot of feedback about wanting to play while offline for purposes like travel or Steam Deck play, as well as the frustration that outages in some of the online-play services can create. So we have delivered a way to play the game without being fully online.
This can be accessed by simply clicking the "Single Player" option on the Home Screen.
The game now allows you to play while offline (either not logged into Steam, or during Epic Online Services outages).
If playing while logged into Steam, the save file can transition seamlessly between single player and multiplayer.
If playing while not logged into Steam, the file can only be played single player, and the character is isolated to the fully offline mode.
If you want to play this file in online play later, it will require you to make a new character.
⏸️ Single Player Pause
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/710b214388dca32189bdc4884e105b652239ef81.png"]
As part of the improvements to Single Player play, we have also introduced a Pause function. Now the game will pause while in Single Player if you hit the ESC key!
Pause can be activated at any time, whether you are idle in your base, or in the middle of an intense fight.
This feature is NOT supported in multiplayer mode.
🗺️ Map Usability Updates
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/166ea8ee2b4fa5e5952ad12be2e7986a86b635e9.jpg"]
We have made a lot of usability updates to the map to make it easier to navigate.
Point of Interest icons now are minimized into pips when fully zoomed out.
Hovering any minimized icon will reveal its full image.
Pips follow a color-coded hierarchy.
Blue = Spirit-related
Green = World-related (monoliths, markings)
Gray = Primordial Trials
Added several hover tooltips to the map to identify objects.
🔍 Spirit Radar
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/dcc714e17c87113c43d8d5d569970993879e5478.png"]
We have heard a lot of feedback about the locations of Spirits being too precise, making the radar and the fun of finding the spirit fall flat. As such, we have obfuscated this slightly to add more mystery to finding the Spirits.
Spirit Radar now shows a general area where the Spirit is, instead of a pinpoint location.
👖 Gear Durability
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44779674/bc55ac9accdf0dd4fec77a5add677093dcad151b.png"]
Previously, Gear only took durability damage when the player died. Now, Gear will take damage as you take unblocked damage from enemies. Careful, as you may get caught with your pants down! (… for some reason, pants always break first! 😛)
Gear now takes durability damage if you are hit without blocking.
If gear runs out of durability, it will break.
Gear can be repaired at the Repair Bench like any tool.
🐛 Known Bugs in the Patch
We tried to squash as many bugs as we could, but we can never get 'em all. There's a few bugs you may notice while playing that we wanted to give a heads up on! We'll be fixing these as soon as we can.
