About the Game

█ ROUTINE is a First Person Sci-Fi Horror title set on an abandoned lunar base designed around an 80s vision of the future.
Curious exploration turns into a need for survival when a lunar base goes completely quiet. Searching for answers puts you face to face with an enemy who is certain the main threat is you. Discoveries lead to deeper unknowns and the only way to go is forward. ▌
Note: ROUTINE offers no waypoint markers, finding your way is part of the experience. Slow down, observe your surroundings, explore carefully, and review data to uncover the path forward.
█ EXPLORE: Roam through contrasting sectors of the lunar base, from deteriorating living quarters and tram stations to an abandoned mall. ▌
█ OBSERVE: Investigate your surroundings and uncover crucial information to progress and piece together the events that unfolded before your arrival. ▌
█ IMMERSE: Full body awareness, diegetic audio, and minimal UI help create a gripping and atmospheric experience. ▌
█ OPERATE: Your Cosmonaut Assistance Tool (C.A.T.) is vital. Use it to access critical terminals, navigate the environment and identify clues. ▌
█ SURVIVE: Run, hide, or attempt to defend yourself against unknown threats using the C.A.T. as a last resort. ▌

Official update history
Hello everyone,
This is a hotfix for patch R.2.1.0.0 that includes a few bug fixes and quality of life updates.
We saw comments and reports that since implementing Render-Scale & DLSS/FSR options, some players were experiencing worse performance.
After some investigating, we determined that the issue was related to a mismatch between Render-Scale values. To fix this, we have now added a Default option inside the Render-Scale settings, which should use the same value that was used in previous builds. Additionally, we have also added more Render-Scale values to select from.
We have also updated the Anti-Aliasing option in the Graphics menu to highlight that the currently selected AA-Method gets disabled when using DLSS/FSR.
If you would like to return to your previous settings from before Patch R.2.1.0.0, make sure the following settings are set to these values:
Anti-Aliasing: TAA
Render-Scale: DEFAULT
DLSS/FSR: FALSE
This patch may reset some of the values in your Graphics settings. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and thank you all for the feedback and information, which helped us find the culprit. :)
Added: More Render-Scale increments added (50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100)
Added: Render-Scale Default setting added, which will match what your previous value prior to patch 2.1.0.0.
Added: Automatic Render-Scale option switched from 100 to DEFAULT.
Improved: Anti-Aliasing option gets disabled when enabling DLSS/FSR.
Note: The Default Render-Scale option will use a value unique to your system, based on factors such as your GPU & Resolution. Your Default may not be the same as someone else's.
------------------------------
Please note that the following changes only affect the Windows Store version and not Steam or the console builds:
Fixed: DLSS not working as intended for users playing on the Windows Store version of the game.

Hello all!
For this patch, we wanted to focus on some of the technical issues you’ve been reporting to us, as well as a small number of extra control options.
If you were previously stuck in an area with shutters, you should now be able to exit safely by moving around the area a little. We sincerely apologize for this issue. If anyone is still stuck after the patch, please contact the Raw Fury Support Desk or email Lunar Software at contact\lunar-software.com and we will do what we can to resolve it.
We’ve also added a general section to both Keyboard & Mouse and Controller in the options menu that allows players to toggle on and off various movement controls.
Finally, the overwrite save file prompt has been made more obvious to clearly indicate that a save is being overwritten, and we have added a delay to help prevent accidental quick overwriting.
Thank you again for your patience. We will continue monitoring the game's stability and player requests!
Added: New toggleable control options.

Hello everyone,
Just a very short post! Yesterday, we pushed a new patch (R.1.8.0.0) with some small bug fixes and QoL updates. Today, we saw some reports that the effects toggle for Film Grain was not correctly persisting between levels.
We know this was an important community request, so we have corrected that with hotfix R.1.9.0.0.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and thank you again for your feedback!
Fixed
Film Grain effect not persisting correctly between level Load & Reloads.

█ After an incredibly long journey, we would like to officially say that ROUTINE is OUT NOW!
We first announced the project 13 years ago as a small team of 3. Now, after 5 years of trying hard to re-build the project with RawFury, it is ready.
We've shared a timeline below that details the journey we've been on but, through everything, the one thing that has helped us going is you, the players. It is hard to put into words how much we appreciate all the emails, messages, love, and, most of all, the patience you have given us.
We hope that each and every one of you enjoys ROUTINE and gets immersed, lost, and terrified in the world we have created.
We love you all.

ROUTINE - Journey To Launch
■ 2011 - The birth of Lunar Software.
The development of ROUTINE began over 10 years ago with three core developers who not only shared a flat, but also a dream.
Lunar Software was formed.
The first version of ROUTINE was made in Unreal Engine 3, and many of the themes, concepts, and the general design direction from that time still stand today. Development was exciting and fun, and the reception we received only made us more eager to create something truly special.
However, we had no salary or payment for the work we were doing on ROUTINE. We relied on savings, a part-time job, and help from friends and family.
We stretched those funds as far as we could, and made it work… for a while.
■ 2016 - The year we went dark.
ROUTINE wasn’t shaping up to meet the expectations people had for it, and with our financial problems at an all time high, combined with unexpected health issues, we truly hit rock bottom.
Not only were we unable to creatively fix the problems we had with ROUTINE, but we also had to look for freelance work to pay rent and keep the studio alive.
This period in the Lunar Software timeline was not enjoyable for us at all, but we did what we had to do, to get through it.
■ 2020 - Re-Birth
While working freelance to support ourselves and the company, we also developed a small project, one we hoped could help fund our dream project, ROUTINE.
It was during the pitching process for that small project that we met our future partner, Raw Fury.
It quickly became clear that their interest in ROUTINE was strong, and based on our discussions, we knew we had found the perfect partner to bring ROUTINE back to life.
That year, full production began on the version of ROUTINE you see today. However, 99% of the content had to be created from scratch in Unreal Engine 4, which we later ported to Unreal Engine 5 in 2022, it was a long process, but the joy of creating and loving ROUTINE was truly back.
■ 2025 – One. Final. Step.
Which brings us to today.
The core team of three is still here. However, we couldn’t have come this far without not only the support of Raw Fury, but also every developer who poured their heart and soul into the audio, animations, art, writing, and code for ROUTINE. The support we received this time around helped us create the dream project we had always wanted to make.
