Official update history
We cooked up some fantastic additions for Outbound that we're happy to share with you today!
Patch 1.1 is now live!
This is a larger content update that introduces Fishing as the main feature, along with new buildable items such as fish tanks, stairs, and doors to expand your base-building options.
Fishing
- Added Fishing!
- Added 3 Fishing Rods to obtain and craft, each required to fish in different areas.
- Fishing Rods can be obtained from newly added Download terminals.
- Added a new fisherman's hut to explore in the first biome.
- Added a new fisherman's hut to explore in the second biome.
- Added a new fisherman's cabin to explore in the forth biome.
- All lakes and rivers, as well as the sea now contain fish that can be caught.
- Added 32 collectible fish across all four biomes.
- Added 4 pieces of Junk that are sometimes caught instead of a fish, that provide additional Litter or Bottle Caps.
- Added a new Journal page to track the fish you've caught.
- Each caught fish has a star-rating between 0 and 5. The highest caught star-rating will be logged in your journal.
- Caught fish can be put into Fish Tanks that you can add to your homes.
- Please note that we decided fish will not serve as a source of nutrition. Instead, they are intended as collectible and decorative elements for your homes.
- Added 1 more fishing-related painting to collect.
Base Building
- Added 4 buildable Fish Tanks that can serve as habitats for your caught fish.
- Added 6 buildable Stairs that can be used to create multi-level homes in addition to ladders (some of those need to be researched).
- Added 4 buildable Doors that can be used to create rooms within your home. Doors can be opened and closed.
Bug fixes
- Some improvements to RAM consumption.
- Bamboo shelf counter - fixed targeting of placed items and added more slots to place.
- Airplanes can be heard from further distance now.
- Your dog companion now keeps proper track of not putting more items in its storage while searching for new items.
How to get your fishing rod
You can play with your existing save file, or start a new journey - whatever you prefer! The first fishing rod is available on Map 1 at the fishing hut near the lake with the pier in the first biome. This will also provide you with your first couple of buildable fish tanks. Following fishing rods and fish tanks can be acquired on Map 2 and 4!
A note regarding achievements: We decided not to add any new achievements to Outbound, as we want players who have already completed all achievements to retain the completionist status.
Please note that we are constantly improving Outbound, and there's much more to come. We will continue releasing smaller patches with bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements between major content updates.

Bugfixes
- Fixed de-syncinc of multiplayer sessions that has been introduced with 1.0.15 (sorry!).
- (There is still one known bug with buildable ladders not syncing properly, we will fix this as soon as possible!)
- Fixed bobble heads sometimes looking buggy.
- Improved targeting of interactions and customizables within the vehicle.
- Fixed interaction collider of Sewing Table.
- Fixed unreachable Clay deposits in Canyons.
Bugfixes
- Multiplayer: Fixed syncing the pouch upgrades of the dog companion.
- Multiplayer: Fixed on syncing areas the vehicle drives in, which could in rare cases lead to showing the end of demo screen.
- Fixed the energy forecast of putting a Silverbark Lumber in the Power Unit, which provides twice the energy.
- Add colliders around the oases in the Canyons biome.
- Prevented respawning the large blocking logs at the Coast, and allow the trunk one to be harvested.
- Fixed the water color of the river at the top of the Mountain in the 4th biome (this was unintentionally pink).
- Fixed that when changing body type while facial feature 8 was selected the second body type would loose their eyebrows.
- Various minor translation fixes.
Regarding the update size of this patch.
Some of you may have noticed that, despite containing relatively few changes, this patch requires a fairly large download (approximately 3 GB). This is due to a number of behind-the-scenes optimizations, as well as groundwork being laid for a larger upcoming update. We apologize for any confusion and appreciate your understanding.
Bugfixes
- Fixed a number of issues with the elevators in multiplayer.
- Fix in multiplayer where in some rare cases a character would be displayed twice in the vehicle.
- Fixed that the dog cannot reach areas where it would go underwater.
- Fixed that it is now allowed to build ladders on the side of the School Bus.
Bugfixes
- Fixed ladders sometimes accidentally forcing you to step on when setting / unsetting camp.
- Fixed a rare issue that occasionally grass was not visible around the vehicle while driving.
Patch 1.0.12 just went online!
Ladders and more Home Customization
As with every patch, next to the bigger additions we did to the game, we also fixed a couple of bugs and improved general stability and balancing.
Features
- Massively improved ladders.
- It is now also possible to click to snap onto a ladder.
- Ladders can also be used from above.
- Setting to turn off / on look direction to change movement direction on ladders.
- Ladder animations in multiplayer.
- More customization options for all wooden items.
Bug fixes
- Fixed that Bean Bag chair was not in the game. If you acquired the "Chill Chairs" pack from a signal tower, you now own it as a blueprint.
- Materials being left in the camper van's bio burner are no longer lost when quitting the game.
- Fixed that battery assembler could only hold 4 items in output.
- Fixed companion UI text overlap (in some languages).
- Fixed that sometimes Cap 'n Snaps were not storing already taken blueprints properly.
- Fixed customization of Trellis Foundation with Ladder.
- Fixed colliders of the rain catchers at the Sunbeam Acres Farm.
- Multiplayer: Fixed making copies of customized furniture.
- Multiplayer: Fixed customization of base center foundation.
- Multiplayer: Dog companion can now pick up dropped items.
- Multiplayer: Improved vehicle physics in multiplayer, especially with the Pathmaker.
- Fixed graphics glitch at the hangar.
Balancing
- Reduced cost of Power Cell from 4 Battery Components to 2.
More customization options for all wooden items!

Ladders - click to climb
We’ve heard your feedback about ladders and made major improvements to how they work.
First, we’ve added a new way to climb ladders: you can now interact with them to snap directly onto the ladder. This is especially useful when climbing from above. Previously, getting onto a ladder from the top was difficult and often nearly impossible.

Ladders - touch to climb
You can still simply walk toward a ladder to start climbing. Since many players are already familiar with this behavior, we decided to keep it unchanged.
We’ve also improved ladder snapping detection overall, especially when stepping off ladders, making movement feel much smoother and more reliable.
Ladders - controls
Previously, movement direction was determined by your look angle. Looking upward meant moving forward would take you up, while looking downward meant moving forward would take you down. We’ve now added a setting that lets you choose your preferred behavior, including an option where moving forward always means up and moving backward always means down.

Bugfixes
Overall improvement of vehicle syncing in multiplayer, among others against a specific case of sometimes vehicles slowly floating in the air over a long time.
Fixed an issue with building crop plots and other larger items on top of the metal small side tables.
Fixed an issue where the dog's position did not follow the elevator position properly.
Fixed a number of translations.
Download Voucher & Bottle Cap 'Wallet'
We've heard a lot of feedback about the download vouchers and bottle caps having weight and not automatically being locked in your backpack. So we decided to make a 'wallet' for such special items with two separate inventory slots!
Download vouchers and bottle caps don't have any weight anymore, so you can take as many with you as you want. You also don't have to lock these items in your storage, as they do not get deposited anymore. You can still drop the items for your friends to use in multiplayer.

Bugfixes
- (Likely) fixed that sometimes there were no downloads in a download terminal, which was essentially soft-locking.
- If an issue with downloads happens, you can now send your save and log files to us with a single button click, which helps us investigating.
- Fixed that vehicle lights sometimes were turned on automatically at the wrong time of day.
- Fixed Ring-a-Ding-Ding! achievement (collect 100 bottle caps) in multiplayer.
- Fixed Cap 'n Snaps map legend properly showing them.
- Fixed that the paintings Red Ridge Airstrip and Golden Shores looked identical.
- Fixed an issue with crop plots in multiplayer, sometimes preventing them from being harvested.
- Translated some unlocalized texts.
- Smaller multiplayer stability fixes.
Balancing
- Doubled the amount of clay received from clay deposits.
We hope that you will like the balancing changes and improvements we are introducing to Outbound! We are happy to hear your feedback and will incorporate that in future patches.
Patch 1.0.8 just went online! Based on player feedback, we are introducing a couple of balancing changes in this patch, mainly targeting the slow movement, running at night, and lumber / plank, fiber, and Red Ore shortages. This is only a start and we will introduce more improvements in future patches.
Balancing
You can now sprint at night.
Increased sprinting speed by 15%.
Increased stamina regain (regain after empty stamina bar) by 150%.
Removed Homing Boots (temporary sprint at night), because they don't serve a purpose anymore, now that you can sprint at night.
Changed Sawmill recipes as follows:
Recipe Everwood Plank changed from requiring 2 Everwood to now requiring only 1 (ratio 1:1).
Recipe Silverbark Plank changed from requiring 2 Silverbark Wood to now requiring only 1 (ratio 1:1).
Recipe Redwood Plank changed from requiring 2 Redwood to now requiring only 1 (ratio 1:1).
Recipe Blossomwood Plank changed from requiring 2 Blossomwood to now requiring only 1 (ratio 1:1).
Map 1: Bridge at the Sunbeam Acres Farm now only requires 20 Everwood Planks to repair, instead of 30.
Increased the amount of Everwood lumber and Fiber in Map 1.
Increased the amount of Durafiber in Map 2.
Doubled the amount of Red Ore in Map 3.
Improvements
Added sorting and text search to Backpack inventory.
Map: Improved legend, added counters of collected / interacted things. Especially handy to check how many Signal Towers / Terminals are left on a map.
Connections between maps are now always uncovered by default.
Connections between maps have clearer map icons now.
Multiplayer highlighting / pinging can now be remapped (default: middle mouse button / left stick press).
Dog companion now always spawns next to you when loading a game. This helps with dogs that are stuck (we will also work on preventing that).
Added a setting to turn off auto-centering of the third-person vehicle camera.
Bugfixes
Fixed dog companion always barking when leaving the vehicle.
Fixed Cap 'n Snaps not showing on map after a transition between biomes.
Achievement Certified Researcher now properly includes the research stations in the 4th dome as well.
