About the Game
Discounty is a narrative-driven management sim offering a 15-20 hour single-player campaign.
Manage your own discount supermarket! Get caught up in small-town drama, organise and plan your shop's layout, and strike lucrative trade deals as you expand your secretive aunt's business empire. Selling more frozen fries will surely heal this broken community...right?
Step into the quirky harbour town of Blomkest, where your aunt has entrusted you with managing its only supermarket. Design and organise your shop, manage stock levels, work the checkout, and strike trade deals. Build relationships with the charming locals, and grow your business empire while navigating community dynamics. Use every tool at your disposal to expand your business, but be mindful: rapid growth might ruffle a few feathers in this tight-knit community. Will you pursue endless profits, or find a way to benefit everyone in Blomkest?

Your aunt has invited you to manage the local store, 'Discounty', in the run-down harbour town of Blomkest. But beware, not everyone wants you to succeed.

Explore Blomkest after business hours and get to know the townsfolk. Turn them into loyal patrons of Discounty and uncover the town's hidden secrets.

Create an eye-catching, efficient store by rearranging shelves and products. Design inviting aisles for easy navigation and add decorations to encourage purchases!

Blomkestians don't take well to newcomers. Gain manufacturers' trust, make trade deals, and sell local specialty goods to boost Discounty profits!

Keep shelves stocked, floors clean, and the storage room organised. Ring up customers shopping promptly to keep them happy! No one likes waiting around...

As profits soar, reinvest and grow! Expand your shop to stock more goods and advertise it around town!
Choose your appearance, handpick your outfit, and pick a name that reflects your unique style. Your ever-wise Aunt will always recognise you, no matter your chosen guise.

Just remember, there's a choice every business owner must make: People or Profit?
[dynamiclink href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad5Jb7KlyqU"]
"People or Profit?" Expansion
New Final Chapter: Aunt Tellar is finally putting YOU in charge. In a brand-new fourth chapter, you'll be responsible for deciding Discounty's fate — and Blomkest's. Experience a branching final questline taking you through the game's wackiest and wildest moments yet.
3 All-New Endings: Choices have consequences. Will you help your neighbors create the sustainable community of their dreams, or crush their sprit and exploit their resources? (Or a secret third thing?) In any case, Blomkest will probably never be the same.
Restore the Town: Pick up new resources around town to rebuild and restore Blomkest! Help Solruna get back her old shop, reopen the long-neglected John Key museum, pry open that mysterious old shed…or just erect Discounty billboards everywhere you can.
New Characters: Three ambitious entrepreneurs want to make a new start in Blomkest. Help them – or hinder them – while striking up trade deals for strange and tantalizing new products.
Invent Shop Gadgets: Discover Jürgen's old workshop to create advanced gadgets that bring your shop into the modern age: a self-checkout register, an online order fulfillment system, extra floor space, and more!
Choose Your Items: You can now select which items you want to stock in your shop – turn your shop into a rugged fishmonger, a crunchy vegan health shop, a convenience store, or whatever else you can imagine!
Shop Events: No two shop days are the same. Experience random events that shake up your day-to-day gameplay like a broken air conditioner, rainy days where everyone tracks in mud, or even a full-on sheep invasion.
Buy a House: Finally, you can replace your Aunt's old trailer with a bigger, permanent house.

Features Overview
"People or Profit?" is Discounty's biggest content update by far! After the game launched, we spent months collecting all your feedback and reviews. Since we are a small team, we decided to work as efficiently as possible by rolling up all the changes into one big expansion, and we got started developing it at the beginning of the year.
Our team of four has been working round the clock the last few months to make a truly special update that stays true to our vision for the game while also delivering the content you wanted to see. Without further ado, here's what's new:
New Final Chapter & 3 New Endings
The most common feedback we heard from players was that the game's ending didn't feel satisfying – that it seemed abrupt, that their choices didn't matter, or that certain story points felt unresolved. It didn't seem feasible to resolve this within the game's existing story, so we decided to add a whole new chapter!
Without spoilers: the new chapter picks up right after the original ending. Depending on the decisions you make and the people you ally with, you will see one of three new endings. To help out completionists and achievement hunters, we will also save your progress at the beginning of Chapter 4, so after you roll credits you can replay the game from that point. Who doesn't want a good redo in life?
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/25e123657339eb2324a37897dd811e693c07d9d9.gif"]
Restore the Town
Pick up resources all over town and turn them into building materials. Fix up the old and run-down buildings...and erect some Discounty billboards while you're at it! From small renovations to massive projects, you'll have a lot to rebuild. (And a lot more to do on evenings and Sundays...I guess a shopkeeper never really gets a day off.)
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/45dc0cd62e012ea710bf26f707869365bcbf8847.gif"]
New Characters
Business is booming in Blomkest, and even outsiders are taking notice. Three new characters are moving to Blomkest to try to make their mark: Gaspard, Tammy's disgraced brother who dreams of running a hydroponic farm; Angeel, a bougie city girl opening a branch of the luxury grocery store Muimerp; and Casey, a "troubled" teen who'd like to sell you some "legitimate" goods from the trunk of their car.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/19ff648175d735ea6037db76967ad416f2e13500.gif"]
Invent Shop Gadgets
Your little shop could use some modern tech. How about a self-checkout to help get through customers faster? Maybe an online order system to earn extra cash throughout the day? Or even some extra floorspace? Restore Jürgen's old shed to start making exciting new inventions that will bring your shop into the future!
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/e45d1c6257e347827ba863b6405c135b4d3b7d37.gif"]
Choose Your Items
Don't want to sell something? You can now choose which items to stock in your shop. We're adding 35 new items in this expansion, so you'll have a lot more options to select from. Plus, the more items you stock, the longer customers' shopping lists will be. A great way to make more money...if you can handle the demand.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/52e2f2ab447d234c75573add21000c073304c13b.gif"]
Shop Events
It's good to shake things up from time-to-time. You'll now experience random events that'll force you shift your tactics, like customers in a game day rush, a rainy day making people track track mud, or even a "visit" by wandering gangs of sheep.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/c5bf28e2dbbb20c743b9df2909614a4d15f4acda.gif"]
Buy a House
And yes, if you really want to, you can now move out of the cozy trailer your loving Aunt generously provided you.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/d42b380688ebc68f0368d1fede40bdad33906a7a.gif"]
...and More!
This expansion also comes with lots of smaller features, improvements, quality of life updates, and bug fixes! For a full list, make sure to check out the patch notes.
Please Leave a Steam Review!
If you haven't yet, please take a moment to leave a review on Steam! It may be a "free" expansion, but it took a whole lot of hard work (and money!) to create, and we hope the work we put into it shows! Leaving a review is a great way to let us know how we did.
We also debuted a new "Supporter Pack" bundle on Steam, which gives you a spiffy tuxedo and helps support our work. ❤️
[dynamiclink href="https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/78028/Supporter/"]
We'll be keeping an eye out for any bug reports in the next few weeks, and then our team is looking forward to some much-needed (and long-delayed) time off. Have a lovely summer! <3
And as always, thanks for shopping at Discounty.

Update Overview
This update adds some of the most-requested features while addressing common complaints from our community, including some very important accessibility options.
There's also many things you won't see. We've been hard at work improving some of the game's underlying systems. As you may know, Discounty is our studio's first game, and we learned quite a lot about game development while making it. However, we didn't have any time to implement most of these lessons…until now! Long story short, these "invisible" changes will make working on any future updates a lot more efficient, and with less chance of breaking what's already here. So even though it's not as exciting to talk about, just know it's a sign of more exciting things to come in the future!
Quality of Life
We've made a few changes to make life in Blomkest a little bit easier. Now you can tear down posters after placing them, and hovering over a poster shows you a tooltip with the poster's effect and the number of days it has left. In the store, we've greatly improved the shopping list UI. It's also possible to hide the cash register and scanner guides, so you can more easily keep an eye on your store.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/e4b0edab510c2714e3fcd18471431e1990a74d79.gif"]
Accessibility Settings
There are now settings to change the size of the dialogue font, as well as having it play automatically and appear instantly! We've added a motion sickness mode that disables the scrolling bus in the main menu and also disables UI animations. You can also unlock the scanner from the beginning, access additional visual options, and more.
Appeal Rework
We've completely reworked how appeal works, but in short: appealing shelves and boosters work more predictably and are a more worthwhile investment. Previously, in some layouts, customers would almost always go to shelves with the highest appeal rating, even when other appealing shelves were nearby. Now even lower-appeal shelves can also tempt customers, while higher-appeal shelves are nearly irresistible. (We've also increased the appeal cap from 5 to 10, and customers can make more impulse purchases overall.) Invest in appeal – it'll be worth it!
Customer Approval Rating (C.A.R.) Rebalance
Previously, it was sometimes unclear why customers became impatient and left negative C.A.R. reviews, even when you'd done everything "right." Now, if you are attentive to all of your tasks, customers are more likely to leave positive reviews – but the inverse is also true, so don't slack off! We've also added visual indicators to show when customers' patience is draining, so you can more easily identify issues:
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43640831/659999e0e1d9d1453c015115b77e9f08b13c5381.gif"]
"Stress Free" Mode
But what if you don't want to deal with impatient customers at all? We know there are a lot of players who prefer a purely "cozy" experience, so we've added a setting to turn off customer impatience entirely. If you just want to relax – or are traumatized by having worked in retail IRL – this setting might be for you!
Please Leave a Steam Review!
If you haven't yet, please take a moment to leave a review on Steam! Your feedback has been invaluable as we continue improving the game, and every review helps us reach new players.
Let us know what you think about the update, and until next time,
xoxo

'Deep Pockets' Update Overview
Some people in Blomkest have deep pockets...and others deep secrets. Discover new ways to spend your hard-earned shills once the main story is finished, embark on new quests, and uncover who's been pulling threads behind the scenes...
This update will give you some new things to do after you've reached the ending, so read on to learn what's in store (no pun intended).
Dig a Basement
You need more space and can't expand outward...so what about straight down? This update adds a new questline that sees you expanding Discounty once again. But as you've no doubt learned, nothing in Blomkest comes easy...and there might be some other people in town who take an unexpected interest in your new basement project. This questline can be started as early as Chapter 2, or later in existing saves, after finishing "The Old Staircase" quest.

A New Coat of Paint
Solruna has been experimenting with extracting the essences of color, and believes a new coat of colored paint might be just the thing to purge the negative energies Discounty brought to town. In a new quest, you will learn how to transmute items from your store into new colors for the shop exterior. (For a price, of course.) This quest can be started after seeing Solruna's third friendship event.
