Just addressing a niche bug that could cause online games in unusual circumstances. Alongside of this are some more online stability changes, so to resume in-progress online games make sure everyone is on the latest build.
The online has come a pretty tremendous way since launch, but fixes like this are still thanks to player reports and log files. Thanks to everyone still sending me errors and bug reports!
Version Tweaks
Fixed a bug causing online games to disconnect if multiple players all with thorns died simultaneously to an attacking enemy.
Optimizations to how online processes combats to make it more efficient and less likely to crash in the future.

Micropatch 1.5.2
When preparing the game for Steam Deck, I made some font size adjustments to English fonts. These made it easier to read the game on Deck - but there are edge cases where you can get text overruns.
This patch is a micropatch that fixes the overruns that I'm aware of:
Player names in the stats cards and the Level Up panes are slightly shrunk
Flavor text is slightly shrunk and moved down a little to avoid overruns
The settings window applies a blur effect making it a little less visually cluttered while opened

Valve recently tested Doomsday for Steam Deck compatibility!
I made a few changes to the default branch in order to make it play a bit easier on Steam Deck. The game was originally tested on the console- but newer updates like the Compendium weren't checked and the text could be small and hard to read.
The text size is now a fair bit bigger for features where it was previously very small. I did some light testing on this- but it's possible there were some unintended results so if you see a bit of formatting junk then shoot me a message.
Steam Deck compatibility will still show "Playable" because we're just under the requested guidelines- but you won't see anything that's an eye strain to read anymore.
Content Changes
Fixed a typo in the feet loving ghost event.
Misc
Text sizes on the Collections menu, Achievement Tabs, button hints, and the Unlocks menu has been bumped up for easier reading on Steam Deck.
If the game is launched on Steam Deck and no prior save file exists, the resolution will automatically switch to Steam Deck's native resolution. If a save file does exist, the resolution won't change.
Future Projects?
I recently created a Steam Developer Page. You can follow me there to be notified when new games come out, or just to stare at the cover art for Doomsday and let the time drift around you.
Last month I started recruiting voice actors to join my voice roster for an upcoming project. You can find the posts on BlueSky or X- and if you're interested in submitting but didn't see it, feel free to contact me there or on the game's Discord server to submit an audition.
Once I've got something a little more substantial to share, I'll be polling the community for feedback and playtesting- so if you're interested in that kind of thing then consider joining the game's Discord server. There wont' be any movement for a few months, but I'll start dropping some sneak peaks in a few months when things have progressed a bit farther.
Patch Notes 1.3.4
This is set to be another small patch as we gear up for the wave 2 update. Special thanks to all the completionists in my Discord who have been sending in bug reports and typos! This patch is thanks to them.
You may notice that the last patch notes were for 1.3.2- so what gives? 1.3.3 was pushed out! But it was some backend online stability fixes, and I thought a patch note that just read "more online tweaks" wasn't going to be all that exciting.
Feature Tweaks
- Abandons are now counted even if you fail to save the world. Your stats pages will modify slightly as a result of this update.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a game hang that would occur after killing a non-boss enemy with the Blockbreaker item.
- Fixed a bug causing Doomsday Paradise 15 to misattribute all affection to Brymelle.
- Very many typo fixes
To the best of my knowledge the online mode should just work now, but as always please submit a bug report if you encounter any issues.

Online Bugfixes
- Fixed a bug that could cause disconnects when entering the character select screen.
- Fixed a bug that could cause disconnects when leaving the character select screen.

- Fixed a bug that could cause disconnects at the start of an in-combat turn in larger games.
- Reduced the latency threshold before packet buffering to 50 ms from 100 ms.
- Fixed a bug where Fairy Godmother would display the wrong Tooth Fairies to joining players.
- The Shuffle Bug event no longer crashes the game.
Other Bugfixes
- Diverse Crowd now works as intended.
- The Rave effects have been restored to the Doomsday Party
We haven't had much in the way of bug reports since the last update, so this is a very small update.
The next content update will hit sometime this summer, so I'll be focused mostly on bugfixes until then. If you hit any issues, please leave a bug report in the Steam forums! It's the best way to bring them to my attention.
Fixed Bugs
- Fixed a bug where Goblin King wouldn't appear in the introductory "Doom Approaches" screen.
- Removed Puff Puff Pillow from the random item pool.
- The unlock menu will now show bosses in their holiday threads if they're dressed up
- Small Typo Fix
If you've been playing across multiple devices, I'd recommend signing on with your main device first to sync the correct data to the cloud.
Changes are as follows:
Gameplay Changes
- Weapon attacks are no longer free
Weapons were originally free because you need Multi-Wield to use them, so they they were effectively 1 Skill + 1 Item in terms of power so I didn't feel like they needed to cost a Brain to use as well. This was largely a mistake- because getting even 2-3 weapons was enough to ramp damage considerably. Weapons will still be very good, but now you might need some brainpower as well. - Breaker Blade now grants +1 STR on Equip, instead of +2.
Breaker Blade start was so much stronger than the others it was warping the early game. This tones it down. - Penetrator reduces enemy defense by 1 instead of by 2.
Penetrator just adding 2 damage to everything got really insane- especially in a multiplayer game where you might hit more than one. - Shop Odds Adjusted
The shop used to offer 1 common, 1 uncommon, and 1 rare item. This made it really easy to find a bunch of extremely strong gear (like diamond armor). The shop now rolls three times and offers:
1x Common Item
1x (50%) Common OR (50%) Uncommon Item
1x (25%) Common OR (50%) Uncommon OR (25%) Rare Item
This change means the Shop, in general, offers weaker gear. - Romance Requirements no longer scale with game difficulty
Most players were just going to a single location every single turn to meet romance requirements, and I think that's a lame gameplay pattern so I've made getting a date generally easier. - Enemy HP Increased
Enemies were getting one rounded very quickly. This change mostly affects Adventure and War mode- Vacation mode is mostly untouched. - Skulldweller Tweaks
Skulldweller having Thorns on Adventure Mode ended up being super punishing. I've taken the ability away, but kept it on his War Mode incarnation where having a stronger strategy is probably warranted. - Tutorials in the Pause Menu
You can now access all the tutorials in the game via the Controls Menu! A few players accidentally closed it, so this should help in case they need to revisit them. - New Transition in the Endgame
There's a new transition when the Doomsday Party is over! This'll be accompanied with a music change in the future.
Art / Animation Updates
- Skulldweller Skill Animation Update
- New Art for endings 3, 4, 37, 38, 42, and 61.
Bugfixes
- So, so many typos...
- Voiceline that plays when a Miniboss reveals has changed
- You can no longer "tab out" of the controls menu when you have a sub-menu open
- The Shuffle Bug group vote event now applies on Friendship as well
- Fixed a bug where you could Close the "Endings" popup with the escape key, and it would stall the game at the score screen
- Fixed a bug where buffing enemy demons would alter romance requirements
- Fixed a visual bug where items in your inventory would be loaded over your fighter in the wrong order
- You will no longer enter Sudden Death when an enemy is in its overkill state
- Tweaked the EventRunner so there should no longer be single frame hiccups when the dialogue screen appears
- Enemies will now start with the agility they were meant to have
- You should no longer get heart particles for completing romance quests that are disabled
- You should no longer get a quest notification about completed quests that are disabled
- Fixed a bug where a Gleo quest would appear if you had turned the questline down
- You will only receive a stat-based ending if it's your highest stat
- Fixed a bug where buffing monsters would give them higher difficulty skill loadouts
Patch Notes V 0.3
Hello! It's been a month without patches- but that's because the ones in the works were huge!
This is a beta patch- so there's a couple in-process things to note, which I'll do so below. Let's start off with a summary graphic of the changes, and then I'll go into upcoming features and so on.
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41677891/0d8e3a7941fcee4ee761c029e4fd5636cbedc431.png
Major Features
- Azla-Kathy joins the crew as the fifth playable character! I hope you come to love her as much as I do!
- Azla, Jim, Ben, Sophie, Stabby Jack, Hero, and Dark Knight (formerly Galaxy Knight) are all on the new visual system.
- Skulldweller and Plimbo are using placeholder art (Hero and Azla respectively) for combat for the time being.
- ~40 new scenarios and ~10 new endings.
- Revamped Tutorial System!
- A stats menu, tutorials menu, and ending tracker are now accessible from the title screen!
- Micah and Umbra join the cast- rounding out our romance options!
- Complete redesign of the difficulty modes. Enemies will get more items, skills, and stats at higher difficulties- and yours will be lower!
- Poison now loses half its potency after each turn instead of just one.
Minor Features
- The game's been tested on Steam Deck! There's been some tweaks to the UI to make it a better playing experience, and the on-screen keyboard now properly appears when selecting a custom name.
- New ending art for a handful of endings! We're chugging away on getting every single one custom art.
- The feedback form pop ups no longer appear after a game.
- Story Mode and God Mode have been removed.
- Dark Knight has updated voice lines!
- Lots and lots and lots and lots of polish tweaks.
In Progress
- Skulldweller should receive updated art within the next week.
- Micah, Umbra, Runt, Bubso, and many minions with missing art should receive their art soon.
- Plimbo will be receiving his own art soon as well.
- Stabby Jack and Dark Knight will receive a couple more animations to better signal their Overkill state.
- There are ~20 events currently being tested for implementation and those should roll out next week.
- Updated art for even more endings!
- More music! We're working on doubling the amount of music in game right now.
What to watch for
The Steam Next Fest demo will be coming up next week, and will be using mostly this patch- so there'll be a lot more frequent patching this week as new assets come in at the last minute and bugs get squashed.
Expect maybe a few more bugs than normal since there are so many features in the patch, and expect some enemy numbers to get tweaked as balance gets ironed out.
If you play the game and have any feedback- let me know! I'll have my eyes on the lookout.
For One Week Only- the Demo is Updated
To celebrate the end of the Kickstarter Campaign, I'm launching an update to the game's demo. This update includes:
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41677891/f41f673c07e4ff4ed8b99791298943b26728d1bf.png
- New UI that lets you select which curse to purify
- You can reroll items using right click.
- You can now reroll some curses- such as Purified Curses or Cursed Equipment
- Runt now has updated visuals!
- A complete revamp of the game's backgrounds!
The update is LIVE now! Take a look while you can!
Next Week and Beyond
The demo will be going down next week after the completion of the Kickstarter campaign. This is because I'll be completely redoing the visual tooling for the battle system, and I don't want to leave up a demo that doesn't represent the finished game.
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41677891/3b296f9eb4b56ef3dd533cc1698576fa59b1d11d.png
The demo will be returning when those changes are complete- and we'll definitely be around by February for Steam Next Fest 2023!

New to this build:
- You can reroll items using a right mouse click.
- The arena has new art! This is a preview of what's to come!
- Runt's been upgraded from his concept art to his sketch art.
- Bubso's voice has been implemented, and he has new placeholder face art.
- Gretchen and Narcella have their final face and minion arts.
Aside from that, I haven't shipped much in terms of content in order to keep this build as stable as possible. If you encounter any new issues please send me a message in the Steam boards or via Twitter/Discord!
Otherwise, enjoy the big event! If you want to give feedback while the game is in development, check out the game's website which has links to all of our social media.
