About the Game

Starting from your new home in the remote archipelago, ‘The Marrows’, take to the water and scour the depths for curious collectables and over 125 deep sea denizens. Dredge the Depths
Someone wants you to dig up the past, but can you trust them and will it ever be enough?

Steam Patch Notes
Official update history
We've just released update 1.5.3 for DREDGE. This update addresses what should hopefully be the last round of bugs for The Iron Rig.
Patch Notes:
Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the Aurous Anchor could be duplicated. Players who already have excess Aurous Anchors can get rid of them by doing the following: Deploying them all at sea (via Inventory > Cast Overboard). Save and Quit the game. When loading, only 1 will be preserved, which you can collect.
- Fixed an issue where 16:10 aspect ratios were considered unsupported.
- Fixed an issue where a handful of ooze spots in Twisted Strand and Stellar Basin could not be cleared under certain conditions.
- Fixed an issue where SteamDeck detection was not working in certain conditions.
Thank you for your continued support!

We've just released update 1.5.2 for DREDGE.
This update fixes a handful of bugs and improves a few areas that have been catching players out since our release of The Iron Rig the other week.
Patch Notes:
Adjustments
- Exotic bait no longer requires the correct rod to be equipped in order for it to be placed. You'll still need the correct rod to catch whatever shows up though!
- The Foreman will make it clearer that you can talk to him if you run out of ooze patches to siphon up.
- Increased the size of the ooze markers on the map.
- Added a map marker for the rig's location before you visit it.
- Added 1-2 nautiloids to each of their spawn locations.
Fixes
- Fixed an item duplication bug.
- The portal from the Aurous Anchor now visually layers better when placed on ooze.
- The Leviathan will no longer be able to consume players as they're in the process of docking at the rig.
- Fixed an issue where one patch of ooze couldn't be fully cleared in Twisted Strand under certain conditions.
- Fixed an issue where players could mark bait spots on their map, causing a number of flow-on issues with the map and spyglass.
- A handful of small text fixes.
Additionally, the whole team is incredibly grateful for your support. The reception to The Iron Rig has exceeded our expectations, and we're so happy you've enjoyed diving back into the world of DREDGE.

This update contains a handful of small bugfixes and performance improvements to the game. Check out the full patch notes below.
We’re hard at work on our next DLC, The Iron Rig, and are looking forward to sharing more about it in 2024!
Patch Notes:
Adjustments
- Various optimizations to reduce the game’s memory usage and improve load times.
- Reduced the volume of the Aurous Anchor’s portal idle SFX.
Fixes
- The grids at the ice shards in The Pale Reach now only accept ice axes.
- Fixed an issue where some lines of text (at The Airman, and The Collector) would hang when run in some languages (Japanese, Chinese, Korean) with Text Speed set to “Fast”.
- We’re aware of a few more instances of this occurring in some side quests, specifically when refusing to pick up quest items from NPCs. To avoid this, you can either:
- Reload, and do not refuse the item.
- Change your text speed to “Normal”.
- Added missing ambient audio to the shrine in The Pale Reach.
- Fixed a typo in the line that describes the dog vomiting.

We've released a small patch to address some continued reports of players encountering issues with their save data. It makes us really sad to hear that a few players have lost their progress in the game, and we want to apologize to those affected. With that in mind, these are the notes on the improvements to our save system:
- Players who were unable to open the game due to corrupt settings files should now be able to play.
- Added multiple levels of data verification before, during and after saving the game.
- A history of up to 50 backups is now kept (per save slot). These are stored inside the backup-saves folder.
Right, now we're back to working on our upcoming 1.2 update! Here's a quick peek at one of the new wildlife species that will soon be showing up alongside your boat. We can't wait to see what amazing photographs you all take when photo mode releases!

Patch Notes:
- Fixed an issue where your Dredge Crane could disappear when upgrading hulls.
- Re-added Dredge Cranes to save files that have been affected by this issue.
We appreciate the players who reached out via the Forums, Discord or Support channels who helped us solve this. We are currently working on a larger patch that will address any other situations where equipment could go missing, as well as a few balance tweaks and quality of life improvements suggested by our community.
So far, we've processed and sorted over 700 individual tickets reported through the in-game feedback form - and there are hundreds more we've yet to go through!

With that in mind, let's take a look at one of your most suggested features that we've added in this update: the Temporary Storage Tray!
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40894993/4214b420993f5792a87c0687d33c3c7dbee4b2ca.gif
This unlocks after you complete the introduction quest, and allows you to store fish (and trinkets and materials) temporarily so that you can re-arrange your cargo. Any items left in the tray when you exit fishing mode will be lost!
Patch Notes:
- Added temporary storage tray.
- Added controller rumble.
- Various performance improvements.
- Various SFX and music balancing changes.
- Literally hundreds of text fixes and adjustments across all languages.
- Adjusted the dredging minigame to better communicate that the notches should be avoided.
- The dredging and fishing minigame animations now respect your color preferences.
- Adjusted mouse button glyphs to be slightly clearer.
- Adjusted xbox controller d-pad glyphs.
- The default binding for "Back" is now X. If you have played the game before, your binding won't be adjusted unless you reset it (or reset all settings).
- Added more colors into the accessibility dropdowns.
- The title logo of the game now changes in Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
- The T17 splash screen audio now respects volume preferences.
- The T17 splash screen video has changed to a custom DREDGE logo.
- Potentially fixed a crash that was preventing the game from running on Windows 7.
- Fixed an issue where the Trader's pipe wasn't smoking correctly.
- Fixed some geometry where players were getting stuck on the shoreline.
- Fixed an issue where Crab pots sometimes would not open or behave correctly for players using the Russian language.
- Fixed an issue where the spyglass would remember its previous vertical position when re-activating it.
- Fixed an issue where capital i's would appear as squares for players with a Turkish system locale.
- Fixed a number of text-wrapping issues on the map for some languages.
- Fixed an issue where text line breaks were in bad places in Korean.
- Fixed a number of issues that could arise if the player was interrupted while docking (for example, if docking 'through' a placed crab pot).
Known Issues:
- When rebinding a control on Mouse & Keyboard, the screen says "Press X to cancel binding", but you actually have to press ESCAPE.
- Some item descriptions and backgrounds do not follow your color preferences.
- The spyglass sometimes opens to strange orientations.
- One of the Mayor's dialogue lines about the old fisherman is messed up, in german.
Also, since we last spoke, we've pinned a FAQ topic to our Steam forums.

Thanks for playing <3
We have to start by saying THANK YOU to everyone who has played DREDGE: CHAPTER ONE so far. We've had literally thousands of you play our little fishing game, which has blown our expectations out of the water.
We've just pushed a new build of the demo live with some bugfixes and improvements. All of these came from the feedback you've given us, either via our Discord or the in-game feedback form - so keep that feedback coming!
Here are the patch notes:
- Fixed a critical issue where players managed to uninstall their engine while out at sea.
- Fixed an issue where the tooltip could disappear when installing equipment, making players think they were stuck.
- Fixed an exploit where a puzzle reward could be claimed repeatedly.
- Fixed an issue where particles on character portraits (flies, dust, etc) scaled incorrectly at high resolutions.
- Fixed an issue where the boat's light could be in an incorrect state when loading the game.
- Fixed an issue where the camera could get confused when docking near a crab pot.
- Fixed a typo in one of the Mayor's lines that we must have not noticed for literally a year.
- Fixed a couple of slightly embarrassing chinese translations. Please note that all of our translations are currently being improved for the full release.
- Added a "Reset All Settings" button on the settings screen. Please note that the confirmation dialogue has not been translated into other languages yet.
- If players get lost and dock at Little Marrow before completing the tutorial quest, the Dockworker will pop up and remind them where Greater Marrow is. Please note that this line has not been translated into other languages yet.
- The encyclopedia 'page turn' animation was too severe, so it has been adjusted.
- The default master volume of the game is now ~25% quieter. Existing players will be unaffected by this change until they adjust it in the Settings menu.
- Adjusted the lighthouse ambience to be much less grating on the ears.
- Adjusted some camera colliders around Blackstone Isle.
- Add SFX to a previously silent group of sea creatures.
- Re-planted some floating trees at the top of some islands.
And some significant known issues:
- There’s an issue where sometimes you need to disable steam’s PlayStation / Switch support for the game to correctly register these controllers. To solve this:
Close the game > right click the game in your library > Properties > Controller > Override for DREDGE > Disable Steam Input > Reopen the game
Alternatively, go into your main Steam Settings and disable PlayStation controller support under the controller settings. Please note that this will affect all of your Steam games. - Crab pots may stop working even though they have a few hours of durability left, but only when playing in russian language. Yeah, don't ask.
- The game fails to launch on Windows 7.
- Some game UI does not scale nicely on 4:3 aspect ratios.
Q: How do I know if I've received the update?
A: It should say "1516" in the bottom right corner of the title screen.
