Hello Hunters,
As many of you know, Way of the Hunter 2 recently entered Early Access. It’s been quite a ride so far — as with any game launch, there were a few hiccups along the way — but overall the response from you, the players, has been incredibly positive and motivating for the entire team. Thank you for that. It truly means a lot to us.
Over the past couple of months, our focus has been almost entirely on getting the sequel ready and supporting it through its Early Access launch. That said, we want to reassure you that we have not forgotten about the first game or the community that helped it grow into what it is today.
You may have noticed a small update downloading for Way of the Hunter. This was only a minor asset change in the main menu to update the Way of the Hunter 2 banner window with the current information. Even though we have been very busy lately, rest assured that we have also been monitoring issues in the first game.
Several players have encountered bugs that we still plan to revisit and continue investigating. This includes the so-called “fitness bug,” which we are fully aware of and have been tracking internally. While we cannot yet provide a clear timeline for when this issue will be resolved, it remains on our list of priorities that we intend to address first.
If you run into an issue in Way of the Hunter and haven’t reported it yet, please do so via the THQ Nordic Redmine, to help us track and investigate the problem.
Also, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out Way of the Hunter 2 in Early Access. There’s currently a launch sale, which makes this a great opportunity to jump in at a lower price, experience the game as it evolves, and have a real say in shaping its future updates and features.

Hi hunters,
After Update 1.29.1 went live, many of you reported issues that needed our immediate attention. Some players experienced certain herds losing their genetic potential after loading a save, with a few habitats affected more heavily than others. For those impacted — we’re genuinely sorry.
The addition of turkeys in 1.29.1 unexpectedly put pressure on parts of the herd-management logic, which caused some herds to break and trigger resets. That one’s on us, and we’re truly sorry for the frustration it caused. Over the past two days, we’ve been digging into the issue, and the hotfix for Update 1.29.1 is now available on PC.

Hotfix for Update 1.29.1 - Breakdown:
Corrects the English name for Merriam’s turkey (other localizations will be fixed in an upcoming update).
Resolves an issue where Mule deer near the lodge could spawn in unusually high numbers.
Stops the herd-genetics reset from happening going forward.
Protects save files for anyone who had not loaded the game after Update 1.29.1. If you backed up your save or hadn’t launched the game yet, your herds should remain intact.
We want you to know that we’re still actively investigating the issue. Today’s hotfix focuses on preventing any further progression loss while we continue looking into the issue.

Halloween, the perfect time to head out after sunset and see what’s lurking in the dark… if you dare. This patch adds a handful of cosmetic touches to capture the Halloween spirit and set the right eerie mood for your hunts. You’ll find pumpkins decorating lodges and cabins across Nez Perce Valley and Transylvania, and glowing animal eyes lighting up the night on all maps after sunset.

Hotfix Patch 1.28.1 is now live on all platforms, fixing pedicles on Common eland so they properly scale with horn size and correcting the in-game encyclopedia entry to display the right score range.

The Common eland has arrived in Tikamoon Plains – a true giant among antelopes and a worthy challenge for any hunter. Strong, resilient, and majestic, the eland will put your tracking and shooting skills to the test. This update also brings a range of gameplay improvements and refinements. Aiming now feels smoother thanks to reduced blur on iron sights, and the zeroing for the Prairie Hunter the Jack iron sight has been adjusted to 50 meters for more accurate shots. We’ve also refreshed the audio experience with updated sound effects for the Steyr-Gams rifle and several rifles from the Hunter’s Advantage Pack.

Update 1.28.1 also brings important fixes inspired by your reports. The electronic caller delay has been resolved, its UI now updates correctly, and the hunter sense dot alignment on the Prairie Hunter the Jack has been corrected. We’ve also smoothed out some localization issues and minor environmental glitches, like the levitating grass on Nez Perce Valley. For more details, please check the patch notes below.

We've been closely monitoring the issues reported since the release of update 1.26.4. Hotfix Patch 1.26.4 is now live on PC. This patch addresses critical stability issues, including multiplayer crashes and startup problems, to deliver a smoother and more reliable experience for all players.
