About the Game
Build Your Train
Build your train from scratch in Heat Death. Construct structural elements such as walls, floors, and ceilings, and then install power generators, heavy weapons, drones, shields, and many other modules to your train. You can also personalize your train’s appearance and layout by selecting and arranging decals and modules.
Explore a Dynamic and Frozen World
The world of Heat Death is vast, dynamic, and unforgiving. Explore frozen lakes, mountain ranges, caves, frozen jungles, and cities where you can find loot, unlock new equipment, and discover the fate of humanity! Since you can move your base, you can explore these environments with ease!
Survive Deadly Storms
The environment itself is your first and most challenging enemy in Heat Death! Keep yourself warm during snowy storms by creating and upgrading your train or by taking shelter inside other buildings. Manage your resources such as power and food to stay alive.
Defeat Hostile Drones
In Heat Death you'll face various enemies that aim to attack and destroy your train. You can either build defensive modules such as auto-cannons, shields, and friendly drones to fight back or make your train fast enough to outrun them!

We're excited to announce that the new Beta update v0.3.6.b is now live on Open Beta branch!
Caution: This is a Beta update. It could contain bugs and may rarely undergo heavy changes. If no problem, it will be promoted to production version after a while.
If you come from previous production version and want to experience a solid continuation of that, you should wait for it.

Changelog compared to previous Open Beta update:
- New Prologue: Experience a brand-new prologue where you can control a fully built train! This section marks the beginning of our complete story overhaul, which we will continue in upcoming updates. Please note: You must start a new game to experience this new content.
- New Stackable Chests: You can now stack chests on top of each other! To help with organization, the chest body now displays the first item inside, making it easier to manage your inventory.
- New Light Module: A new, brighter, and larger wall-mounted light module is now available to unlock and build for your train.
- New Window Modules: You can now further customize your train using two new window modules. These can be unlocked after reaching the mountain side station.
- Graphical Improvements: We've made improvements to the game's graphics, which should result in a sharper overall look.
- New Sticker: A new sticker has been added to the underground mountain station!
- New Snow Particles: We've changed the snow particle effects. They should now look much denser and more realistic.
- Destroyed Engine Indicators: When your engine breaks, you will now be alerted with a full-screen error notification on the train control panels. Additionally, you will see smoke particles coming from the damaged engines.
- Enemy AI Change: Damaging enemies now alerts them, making combat more reactive.
- Performance Optimizations: We've made several optimizations and tweaks that should result in slightly smoother gameplay in certain areas.
- Various Bug Fixes and Tweaks
To opt into the beta version, please follow these steps:
1. Open your Steam library and right-click on "Heat Death: Survival Train."
2. Select "Properties," then go to the "Betas" tab.
3. From the drop-down menu, select "openbeta - Open beta."

New Station: The map has been expanded with a new underground station. Find a way to power it up to explore what's inside!
New Battle Arena: The most difficult battle yet awaits you! Overcome this challenge to gain entry to the new station.

- New Enemy Type: A new heavy enemy type has been introduced. This enemy is resilient to energy shells from the Rapid Burst, but you can easily destroy it using Icicle.

What's New:
- Respawning: We've changed the respawn system so you'll always respawn on the train, whether you have a body scanner or not.
- Module Deterioration: Modules will no longer deteriorate on their own. However, they will take damage during storms. You can protect them by enclosing them with walls and a roof.
- Multi-Engine: The effect of the second engine on train speed has been increased.
- Resources: We've increased the availability of resources, and blueprint costs for certain modules have been further decreased.
- Save Slots: We've added two more save slots, bringing the total to five, to help you better organize your playthroughs.
- Tweaks and More: Various tweaks and bug fixes to enhance your overall experience.

What's New and Improved:
- Challenge Adjustments: We’ve reduced enemy counts in both easy and normal difficulty levels to smooth out your gameplay experience.
- Power Boost: Power cells now add 600 power capacity to your train (previously 500).
- Enhanced Energy: Fission fuel generators now generate more power—+300 in easy mode and +240 in normal mode (up from +180).
- Stronger Trains: Build 33% heavier trains with the same acceleration power.
- Slower Deterioration: Modules now deteriorate slower in easy mode.
- Warmer Interiors: Staying inside your train before constructing a heater is now 15% warmer.
- Reduced Enemy Damage: Enemies deal less damage in both easy and normal modes, giving you a fighting chance.
- Tougher Scrappers: Scrappers are now twice as durable in normal mode and completely indestructible in easy mode (unless you blast them directly!).
- Solar Panel: The Solar panel produces 60 power under the starlight, and it won't deteriorate anymore.
- Blueprint balance: Blueprint requirement for certain modules and crafting recipes has been reduced.
- Resources: We've added more materials to the stations. Also, it's more likely to find resources inside the lockers and enemies.
- Bug Fixes: We’ve fixed a few bugs affecting the battery charger and SeedEx placement.
- Tweaks and More: Various tweaks and bug fixes to enhance your overall experience.
