About the Game

New Features
- Main Menu : The main menu now features a live background. When the game launches, players are placed in front of the mall, where shoppers enter and leave beneath the Mall Rivals sign, rest on the benches and walk past the storefronts.
- Lobby : The lobby has been redesigned as a stage inside the mall, with a live background that reflects the mall's own theme. Each player appears on stage with their name tag and ready status, and a counter shows how many players are ready. Players can customize their character, adjust the match setup and open the chat without leaving the lobby, and can look around using WASD or by dragging.

Mall Rivals Team
Fixes
Stores Selling a store, or losing it for unpaid rent, no longer breaks the game when another player is inside it. That player is now moved out to the entrance, drops
what they carry, and any open menu closes.
Stores Resetting another player's stores from the tablet now clears all of them. Before, it could stop partway and leave some stores half emptied.
Pets Knocking out a pet no longer breaks the game. The pet now lies down instead of walking around while it is knocked out.
Multiplayer Leaving a game no longer causes errors while the game shuts down, whether you had a store open on your tablet or the mall cops were after you.
Saves A save file can no longer be left half written or missing if the game is stopped while it saves. The last good copy is kept as a backup, and temporary files left
behind by a crash are cleaned up.
Saves Deleting a save now also deletes its backup copy, so a deleted save cannot come back and no longer takes up disk space.
Thanks for all the reports. Keep them coming in the discussions or on Discord, they are what these patches are built from.
Mall Rivals Team
Today's patch is a multiplayer clean-up pass. Most of it hits the moments where you join someone else's mall and things quietly stopped working for you and not for the host.
Fixes
Invisible employees - This one is still hurting some players so we are sorry about that, it's really a rare case and rejoining solves the problem but we've applied some other precautiions.
Dead controls on screens - if the store monitor, day kiosk or board TV fails to open, you are no longer stuck with a screen you cannot leave. Press Escape to close it and keep playing.
Store monitor video - videos no longer skip every few seconds or sit on "Video unavailable" until you rejoin. A failed video now retries, then falls back to Mall TV on its own.
Talk menu closing itself - talking to people in someone else's mall no longer opens the dialogue and then closes it a moment later.
Changes
You now get told why you were jailed - a message names the offence when a mall cop takes you in, including the repeat offender case that skips the arrest dialogue entirely. Pickpocketing and breaking into a store now have their own names instead of a generic one.
\ When hosting a game fails, you now get a clear message instead of a spinner that never stops. \ Players who joined the host's game no longer get a stuck hotbar after a vendor puts an item straight into their hands.
Mall Rivals Team
This is our release candidate build. Everything below came from your reports.
\ Things you buy from a wholesaler or vendor now stack in a neat pile on the floor, instead of spreading around or landing inside walls, benches and other boxes.
\ The wholesaler screen now works like your tablet: each product shows its box price, buttons change how many boxes you want, and a Clear Cart button empties the order.
\ You can no longer change your wholesaler order while a purchase is going through.
\ A box you are placing now shows at its normal size. Before, a box you had just picked up could look too small or too big while you placed it.
\ You can no longer put a box down inside another box, a shelf or a counter. The game puts it in a free spot nearby, or tells you when there is no room.
\ When you are knocked down, moving the mouse now turns only your head, not your whole body. Other players see it the same way.
\ The rotate hint while placing furniture now shows Q, R and the mouse wheel, instead of only Q
\ The mouse wheel now turns furniture one step per notch while placing, instead of turning too far
\ Boxes and items now appear straight in the hands of players and staff. Before, other players saw them fly in from far away.
\ At the register, one click now scans one item. Before, you sometimes had to click an item more than once.
\ Hints for placing and using what you carry now show E and the left mouse button, instead of only E
\ Rack shelves holding small boxes no longer say the rack is full while positions are still free, and the boxes on them now sit in their real positions for everyone.
\ When you buy from a wholesaler, boxes that do not fit in your hotbar now go into your shopping cart if it is close by.
\ Customers and staff now walk around you instead of walking into you.
\ Putting a box on a rack shelf now tops up boxes of the same product already there. A full shelf still takes the box if the items fit into the boxes on it.
Thank you for hammering on this build and reporting everything you found. You made the release candidate flawless.

Store signs no longer appear detached and floating far from the store after loading a save
Hello Rivals!
Quick hotfix while the coffee is still warm.
\ Loading a save mid-day no longer leaves the mall empty of customers for the rest of the day

\ Tablet stock counts now display the correct numbers for clients in multiplayer
\ New stores no longer flood with customers all at once \ Joining a game in progress no longer triggers a fake "Mall upgraded!" notification
\ Mall cops now reliably detect and pursue violations near floor boundaries (escalators, stairs)
\ Fines and bribes no longer reduce mall tier progress
