With the New Paths update, we’re expanding the foundations of Morbid Metal’s progression and exploration systems. This update is focused on giving you, the players, more control over your experience while introducing new environments to master.
What’s new:
Difficulty Settings

The feature so many players requested! You’ll now be able to tailor the challenge to your preferred playstyle. Whether you want a more punishing run or a smoother entry into the game’s systems, this gives you flexibility without compromising the core experience. Choose the difficulty level in the Void Hub before starting the next iteration and beat the Prophet to unlock even harder challenges.
The difficulty levels are (easy → hard):
Beginner,
Regular,
Advanced,
Expert,
Morbid.
B1 Sub-biome — Sunken Grounds

Descend into a newly introduced sub-biome in the Sublime Gardens.
Expect tighter navigation, environmental pressure, and new tactical considerations to handle formidable enemies.
B2 Sub-biome — Abyssal Assembly

A sub-biome in the Steel Sanctuary expands the world further, introducing a more hostile and complex combat space. The new wallrunning mechanic, enemy compositions, and layout design will push your adaptability.
But that's not all! Here are the newest patch notes:

Abyssal Assembly sub-biome in Steel Sanctuary, accessible through the Prophet’s Lair

Removed refund option in the Void Nexus
Fixed:
Elite enemies were invincible / barrier was not destructible
Menu sometimes scrolled endlessly after ALT+Tab
Players would sometimes fall through the ground when teleporting
Enemies could sometimes get stuck underneath the floor during combat, preventing the combat from ending
Hooks not working in certain cases
Void Nexus starting node is not being centered when opening the menu
Extra VRAM Routine and its Eden Blessing are not properly updating values on the skill UI
Echo Implant dashing to Saru sometimes made you stuck in ceiling
Crash when ALT+TAB during character unlocking cutscene
& many, many other small fixes.

- Fixed: Movement speed routine (FlightResponse) does not break movement anymore when running and then jumping up slopes
- Fixed: FlightResponse routine does not stack anymore
- Fixed: Boss Prophet not dying Fixed: Boss Prophet duplicate in Phase 3 Outro (death) cutscene
- Fixed: Loading Corrupted save file stops the game from loading (infinite black screen)
- Fixed: Enemies with Barriers sometimes not taking any damage (damage number is 0 or 1)

- Changed: Absorbing Barrier now healing up to a certain limit, instead of healing each time
- Change: Remove Save game when application is turning off, only Save game on Run End, Player Death, Player Teleportation, when using the Quit to Menu / Desktop button in pause menu

⚖️ BALANCE CHANGES
- Changed: When the inventory slots are full, players are now granted Void Matter instead of Nano Chips
- Changed: Corpora are now unlocked with 1 Soul Core instead of Void Matter
- Changed: Animation recovery after Ekku Upslam skill made quicker
- Changed: Animation recovery after Ekku Air Attack made quicker
- Changed: Slightly decreased slowdown duration on echo implant
- Changed: Reduced Echo Implant Damage Modifier scaling
⚡ OTHER
- Added: Large text size option in accessibility, which is enabled by default on the Steam Deck.
- Added: Routine selection after combat now lets players skip the selection resulting in them now getting a routine and skipping the selection
- Added: Current and max number of equipped Routines is now shown in Routine info while selecting
- Removed: Lightning spheres dealing damage over time on enemy minions in Prophet fight Phase 3 have been removed

Today we have a quick hotfix to address some of the issues. Don't worry, your builds are not nerfed too much so you can continue to make the enemies leak themselves!

🐛 Bug Fixes
Boss Health Lock – Bosses can no longer be dealt damage during cutscene transitions between phases
Bleeding / Status Cleanse – Bleeding is now properly removed when a boss transitions phases; it is also generally purgeable now as intended
Echo Implant – Echoes can no longer be implanted on a target that already has one active
Invisibility Glitch – Fixed an issue causing the player character to occasionally turn invisible
Voidhub Floor – Fixed a bug where players could fall endlessly through the floor in Voidhub
Tutorial – Fixed the tutorial not triggering popups or allowing damage to enemies
Routine Selection Tooltips – Tooltips in routine selection now only appear when a card is selected, not all at once
Credits – Corrected a name in the credits

New Known Issues
Flux Dash sometimes does not move the player forward is still an issue. We are aware and are working on a fix. In the meantime, the issue can be worked around by performing a basic attack with Flux. This makes the dash work as intended again.
Shop Interactables (Corpora Enhancer, Corpora Recycler, Protocol Enhancer, Void Stone) are sometimes locked and not interactable.
