About the Game

STILL WAKES THE DEEP is a return to the first-person narrative horror genre for The Chinese Room, creator of critically acclaimed games such as Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and Dear Esther.
You are an offshore oil rig worker, fighting for his life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. All that remains is to face the unknowable horror that’s come aboard.
Search for your crew and help them survive if you can. Run, climb, and swim through the flooding corridors and storm-lashed outer decks. Face a terrifying, unrelenting foe. And pray that, one day, you get to see your family again.
The Chinese Room – with its reputation for world-class world-building, audio, writing, and acting – delivers a symphony of action, trepidation, tender emotions, and awe.

Hey everyone.
Today, we are releasing a small patch that packs a punch - by thawing the frozen and demystifying the hidden. Thank you all so much for your patience as we have been working on this - your reports helped us identify patterns and locate the problem!
Patch Notes:
Fixed an issue that caused the fog to be incredibly potent in Still Wakes the Deep, especially on the deck. Now you can see your
monstersfriends clearly!
Fixed an issue that caused freezes when the corruption effect played on both Still Wakes the Deep and Siren’s Rest, especially on AMD GPUs. This should have a positive knock-on effect for anyone who has other GPUs and also experience this issue.

That’s all for now. Thank you all so much. 🌊

It may be the holiday season, but your shift isn't over – Cadal is tempting the staff back to the Beira D with promises of gold, frankincense... and Muir. A free update for the game is available now - we added a new Silver Screen visual mode, and a Chapter Select option to jump into the story wherever you please.

Silver Screen mode allows you, the players, to immerse yourselves into the game in a stark monochrome, providing an even more cinematic atmosphere. See the Beira D in a new light as you fight to survive on the collapsing rig – no yellow paint in sight. Silver Screen mode can be toggled at any time from the Video section of the Settings menu.

Also new to Still Wakes the Deep is Chapter Select, allowing you to relive your favourite moments of the game whenever you choose. The game has been separated into 23 scenes, allowing you to experience memorable scenes – such as Caz's standoff with Rennick at the start of the game, or the eerily beautiful elevator ride through the pontoons – whenever you like. Chapter Select is available from the main menu. We really hope you enjoy these and get excited about Still Wakes the Deep all over again.
