About the Game
PEAK is a co-op climbing game where the slightest mistake can spell your doom. Either solo or as a group of lost nature scouts, your only hope of rescue from a mysterious island is to scale the mountain at its center. Do you have what it takes to reach the PEAK?
WORK TOGETHER
Need a Hand? You’ll need to rely on your friends to have any hope of scaling the mountain, which changes every single day. Help each other up ledges, or place ropes and climbing spikes to make the way easier for those who come after.
CLIMB
The Mountain Takes no Prisoners! Climb through 4 biomes on your way to the PEAK, each with their own life-threatening obstacles. You’ll need to scavenge for questionable food to survive, and manage your injuries carefully - every setback limits your stamina, making it harder to climb.
SURVIVE
Prepare For the Worst: Discover a variety of helpful survival items, from energy drinks to climbing spikes to the mysterious Anti-Rope. You’ve got no hope of making it to the PEAK unless you press every advantage given to you.
A NEW ISLAND EACH DAY
The game's map rotates out every 24 hours! Try out the new layout each day, or give the same island multiple attempts in a day until you conquer it.
EARN BADGES
A Well-Seasoned Scout: Show off your survival prowess with dozens of badges to earn and cosmetics to unlock.
CLIMBING IS BETTER WITH FRIENDS
Multiplayer in PEAK is friends-only - invite up to three other scouts through Steam to climb together, or face the mountain alone if you're really brave!
FEATURES
Climb with a total of 4 friends
Communicate through proximity chat
4 different biomes to ascend through
A bunch of questionable foods
Lots of different climbing items
Campfires and marshmallows

Official update history
Hello Scouts! Here’s a new patch for you ːPEAKsaluteː
In the previous build, we had some issues with the Bookworm badge where the progress would be reset at the start of every run, and the Guidebook Scrolls would disappear when opened. This led to some people losing their badges and prevented others from achieving it. Super sorry about that!
To make this right, we’ve added a temporary fix so those of you who earned the badge can get it without having to redo it. Flip the guidebook to the second page (the one with the Scoutmaster and Rule 0 on it) and use the salute emote - this should grant you the badge. This is a CHEAT that will work for everyone, so only use it if you already earned the badge!!!
Patch Notes:
GAMEPLAY
Amulets can no longer be cooked.
BUGFIXES
Fixed an issue where the Bookworm Badge would reset its progress at the start of every run
Guidebook scrolls should no longer disappear when opened
Fixed a case where longer runs would suddenly start lagging out of nowhere
Attempting to join a room that doesn't exist should no longer cause the game to get stuck on a loading screen
Fixed an issue where the Aeronautics Badge could be acquired by someone else in your lobby performing its requirements.
The Daredevil Badge unlock requirement should now work properly.
Fixed weight not being updated when placing an item into a backpack that is on the ground.
Fixed being able to start climbing when being carried by a condor and teleporting you back to the wall once the condor releases you.
The Play Dead emote now locks you from item switching for its duration, preventing an exploit where players could drop from heights and receive no fall damage if they swapped items rapidly in this state.
Fixed an issue where lava flows would give you stamina when hitting you, which would let you exploit them for extended climbs with items that grant invincibility.
Fixed an issue where other players taking poison damage would not cause them to flash purple.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Localization and text UI improvement pass throughout the game.
Reduced the intensity of the snowstorm effect in Photosensitive Mode.
The crosshair for the Rescue Claw will now turn yellow when hovering over a player as opposed to terrain.
The title screen is back to the beach, this is how it's gonna look FOREVER.
Enjoy!
* Fixed Steam Avatars not showing up at the right spot in the pause menu
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45656916/1c47b7d37260047303d9c7f2c69cb9497a96b1e0.png"]Hey scouts!
Apologies for the bugged amulet spawn location yesterday... This patch should prevent that from happening again! We also nerfed the frogs yet again, hopefully the last one?
BALANCE CHANGES
Reduced number of Clown Luggages needed to complete the Jester Achievement from 3 -> 2. May rework this achievement entirely later.
In the last patch we introduced a nerf to ropes by making it cost stamina to start grabbing them based on your distance from the rope. Since exploiting that lack of stamina cost is mostly a speedrunner technique and otherwise doesn’t affect gameplay much, we’ve reverted this change. Go nuts!
MORE FROG NERFS (fine you guys win)
Max Tongue Distance 22m->18m
Max Tongue Angle 16°->14°
Cooldown 10s->12s
Pandora’s Lunchbox can now add some Curse to you sometimes. Use at your own risk…
Pandora’s Lunchbox will ignore Invincibility when adding statuses to you. It was just a bit too good, sorry!!
Cooking the Book of Bones will no longer provide any benefit.
FIXES
Improved map generation to prevent Amulet statues spawning inside of rocks and making the Amulet unobtainable.
Basic scout hats and berets should now be properly textured to match new costumes.
The Scout’s Generosity amulet can no longer clone Scout Effigy. As a note, the Checkpoint Flag and other Amulets are also not cloneable.
Color Blindness Mode will now make the Arrow Shooter “laser“ more visible for those with red-green color blindness.
Anti-gravity spheres shot from the Antizooka now only last one minute to prevent soft-locks by placing one atop an unlit campfire.
Fixed the sprite that appears when unlocking the sash after completing Ascent 8.
Fixed a localization issue where Traditional Chinese text would display in Simplified Chinese.
Fixed the Bing Bong Airlines logo appearing backwards on the helicopter :)
Thickened the colliders on wrought-iron fences to reduce the likelihood of the player ragdoll getting stuck in them.
Fixed another scenario where the checkpoint flag could leave scouts in a broken state on another player’s screen.
Looker rocks should once again match the biome they’re in
Fixed an issue where cloning the jetpack with Scout’s Generosity created a jetpack with maximum fuel.
Glider fixes:
The Glider no longer gives forward momentum when ragdolled, such as when using the Play Dead emote.
Fixed the Glider’s networking so the positions of players using it are synced properly.
The glider now rotates forward in your hands when out of stamina as a visual indicator of its power being disabled.
The Glider now protects you from the sun’s heat in MESA.
Big Ghosts will now avoid spawning directly underneath players better.
Fixed an issue where Big Ghosts could sometimes spawn slightly too high underground, giving you less time to react to them after they spawned.
Okay! That's all for now. We're still keeping an eye out so let us know if anything else breaks in the meantime (But like, hopefully not)

PATCH NOTES 2.01.a ːPEAKbingbongː
Hello Scouts! Thank you all for your feedback and bug reports for The Final Ascent. We wanted to get this quick patch out before the weekend, and yes, we nerfed the Frogs a bit!
Patch Notes:
BALANCE
Frogs now have a global cooldown where no other frog can grab you if you’ve recently been grabbed.
Nerfed Infinite Stamina across the board (specifically to target Bugle of Friendship). Gaining an infinite stamina buff will no longer immediately set your stamina to max. It will still prevent stamina from reducing and allow it to begin to regenerate like normal even while doing stamina-using actions like climbing. It will also let you do stamina-using actions even while your bar is visibly depleted. We know some people really like using the Bugle in its current state, but we feel that it’s just too good compared to basically all other Mystical items when you understand how to use the mechanics efficiently.
FIXES
Fixed issue where players would stay muffled after dying to a flytrap
Fixed an issue where the Ritual Dagger could be used indefinitely.
Fixed an issue where killing a player who had placed a Checkpoint Flag with the Ritual Dagger could break their voice chat and mess up their character animations.
Fixed an issue with the collision of the backpack-shaped rock in \[REDACTED].
Fixed an issue where the level generation in \[REDACTED] could soft-lock a run by placing a rock in the wrong place.
Improved level generation in THE CITADEL to prevent floating obstacles.
Picking up an Amulet (Scout’s Ambition, etc.) now properly awards the Esoterica Badge.
Skeleton Scouts are now affected by spiders, flytraps, and arrow traps. (Be especially careful around the arrow traps…)
Capped how far forward the Big Ghost can spawn in GLOOM, to prevent it from appearing inside the stairs to the Citadel and ambushing you from below.
Glider no longer ignores custom run and ascent level’s stamina usage modification.
Portable stove cooking time restored to 60 seconds. Oops!
Fixed an issue where you could be stuck with permanent anti-gravity if you exited an anti-gravity sphere in specific ways.
Fixed an issue where scouts would sometimes not get achievements for completing biomes after loading an auto-save or reconnecting to an ongoing game.
A NOTE FROM THE PREVIOUS PATCH
We forgot to include changes to rope and chain behavior in the previous patch notes. Apologies! We've also seen some complaints about these changes so far so we'll take another look--but for now these are the changes currently in-game.
Jumping off a rope or chain will now properly give you a vertical boost.
Climbing a rope now costs sliiiiiiightly more stamina.
There is now a small stamina penalty for "magnet-ing" from far away to a rope or chain.
The chain you're currently climbing is no longer prompted as an interactable when you're on it.
Enjoy! /The PEAK Team

Hey Scouts! The team is still cooking on the final biome BUT we've also been working on a bunch of bug fixes, try it out.
Patch Notes 1.65.a
Major Fixes:
Fixed MOST REMAINING CASES where taking an item out while facing a wall (especially the backpack) would cause it to clip through the world and disappear. IT SHOULD NOW BE SUPER HARD TO DO
Bonking into the wall during a failed Helping Hand will no longer rapidly drain all your stamina
Significantly reduced the number of cases where Helping Hand would fail to be helpful
Minor Fixes:
Fixed issue where voice chat would break after leaving and rejoining a game
Reconnecting to a game with an item in your hand will no longer sometimes cause the player to take fall damage
Decreased patch install size slightly
Improved randomization of map gen seeds
Autosaves will now self-destruct AFTER a player successfully resumes the run, rather than when they start loading the map
Fixed Magic Beanstalks not showing up for late-joining players
Optimized a LOT of meshes (performance should be most improved in Roots)
Fixed lava rivers never showing up inside the Kiln
Mesa Oasis/Mirage will now appropriately randomize their trees and bushes
Scouts will no longer sometimes get Mentorship Badge for no reason
Modder Notes:
Updated Unity project version to 6.3.15f1
Number of maps in build changed from 21 -> 42
Raytrace shaders are now serialized into their respective fields in LightVolume
LightVolume.Bake and PropGrouper.Run have been made async methods
PropSpawner_* classes are now child classes of PropSpawner
Added LevelGeneration.Run console command (doing this during a run will probably just break your game, though)
The BiomeResults inside MapBaker.selectedBiomes now includes a list of the selected variantName for each respective biome
OK BYE
Fixed EVEN MORE CASES where taking an item out while facing a wall (especially the backpack) would cause it to clip through the world and disappear. IT SHOULD NOW BE SUPER HARD TO DO
Bonking into the wall during a failed Helping Hand will no longer rapidly drain all your stamina
Significantly reduced the number of cases where Helping Hand would fail to be helpful
Fixed an issue where most or all of the luggage would fail to spawn in the Kiln (maps have been regenerated)
Fixed plastic not rendering on Airplane Food and Trail Mix,
Fixed low-res meshes in Title screen,
Restored broken Landcrab splash screen,
Mesa campfire LODs reinstated,
Pulled hidden spore shrooms back out of the ground in Roots,
(Hopefully) Fixed all the invisible rocks in Mesa,
Mesa Oasis/Mirage will now appropriately randomize their trees and bushes,
Map count temporarily reduced to 14 to improve patch sizes until build stabilizes

- Are you encountering any invisible level geometry?
- Did you find any out-of-place assets?
Floating vegetation/rocks?
Vegetation/rocks with textures from a different biome
Objects that are obviously the wrong scale or the wrong orientation
- Did you find any weird lighting/shadows, especially in Alpine or Mesa?
ok back to working on the final biome update....................................................... SEE YA
Changes for this patch:
* Removed BombBeetles and TornadoHell from the list of potential variants for Roots and Mesa
* There should be slightly less spore clouds on some of the more challenging Roots variants (this is a temporary change to make these variants slightly less brutal while we look into making more holistic changes around Roots balance)
Added a new batch of maps for the daily rotation! Fixed the lighting issue in the Kiln that showed up last time we tried to post this patch!
And on the main menu you'll see a shoutout to Aggro Crab's new game :)
people ask whenever we add new maps so as an fyi: we have to generate new maps every month or so and add them to the game ourselves for the daily rotation. We'll have a solution sorted whenever we finish development on peak!
also yes we are working on the final biome! no you can't know when it'll be finished.
patch 1.62.b
EDIT: Patch has been rolled back because of a lighting issue -- we'll try again next week!
