System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster by Nightdive Studios brings to you the modernized remaster of the FPS/RPG classic, featuring Cross-Play Co-Op multiplayer, Mod Support and more.
It’s the year 2114 and as you awake from cryo sleep on the FTL ship Von Braun, you are unable to remember who or where you are… and something has gone terribly wrong. Hybrid mutants and deadly robots roam the halls while the cries from the remaining crew reverberate through the cold hull of the ship. SHODAN, a rogue AI bent on the destruction of mankind has taken over and it's up to you to stop her.
Delve through the corridors of the derelict ship Von Braun and immerse yourself in the story rich atmosphere and environments. Explore deck by deck and unravel the horrifying fate of the Von Braun and her crew.

Fixed a bug in the TGA loader which was affecting textures in some fan missions.
The mouse is now automatically centered on the screen when opening the pause menu.
Fixed loading of malformed model data, sometimes seen in old fan missions.

A public beta preview of Patch 1.3 for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is now live on Steam! To participate, players will need to right-click the game in the Steam library and select Properties. In the Betas tab, choose "Beta" from the Dropdown list in the top left.

Patch 1.2 for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is now available on PC platforms, including Steam, GOG, Epic Games, and Humble Bundle, along with Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch consoles.
MULTIPLAYER
Select multiplayer enemies will no longer become invincible under specific conditions.
Fixed missing or overlapped items in the player’s inventory upon loading a save.
Adjusted multiplayer behavior so that if a player disconnects from the game, everyone will return to the main menu. This is to prevent saving when players have left the session, altering the amount of players saved in that session.
Fixed cases of player script data disappearing when returning to a previous level after loading a save, causing O/S Upgrades to be locked incorrectly, among other issues.
Fixed a crash on the Recreation Deck caused by the spiders in the ceiling.
Fixed cases of script data piling up causing “infinite” load screens. Depending on the specific circumstance, a new session may be required.
Fixed several AI-related crashes when saving.
Fixed multiplayer to prevent team killing during cutscenes.
GAMEPLAY
Added a separate save slot for quick saves.
Fixed collision bugs where the player could randomly get stuck in geometry.
Fixed an uncommon crash in the penultimate level when entering water.
Fixed the “Advanced Ammo Usage” English text being incorrect.
Fixed numerous ways of breaking the cutscene on the ops deck.
Fixed the Marines Year 1 voice line not playing.
Fixed issue where players were not being pushed around properly by the steam vents in the penultimate level.
Improved head tracking for enemies and multiplayer characters.
Fixed head tracking on crew bodies, which was especially visible when in water.
Fixed dropping armor and implants on gamepad not removing their bonuses.
Fixed the sharpshooter trait incorrectly using the lethal weapon multiplier instead.
Fixed one of the software shorthands reading RSRH for Research.
Fixed the direction of the mouse wheel being flipped.

Fixed the cyber interface only warning about toxic hazards upon opening the menu after loading a save.

Added the following config variables, these may be set in the player's user.cfg file in the saved games folder, or using the developer console “set” command:
“disable_flashes 1” allows photosensitive users to disable the red pain flashes and other full screen effects.
“shock_no_help 1” lets players disable the gamepad help text when opening the inventory.
“font_no_glyphs 1” lets players disable rendering of keys and buttons for in-game text.
“num_save_slots_sp” lets players customize the number of save game slots in single-player.
“num_save_slots_mp” is the same as the previous variable, but for multiplayer.

XBOX
Fixed a bug causing the game to crash when syncing settings between Xbox consoles of a different model.
Fixed 18 of the achievements not being marked as unlocked when restarting the game.
Fixed a crash when playing back videos with no audio in the Vault.
Fixed old 4:3 videos playing back stretched.
NINTENDO SWITCH
Enabled ad-hoc multiplayer.
Fixed a crash when playing back videos with no audio in the Vault.
Removed ambient occlusion option due to performance concerns.
MODS
Fixed wrong Relation IDs (and LinkIDs as well) when compared to NewDark.
Fixed dbmod fingerprinting check.
Swapped weapon scripts to use a metaproperty for achievements, instead of taking up the second script slot.
Additional improvements to the underlying engine to give the game better compatibility with NewDark.

Patch 1.0.1 for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster went live on PC platforms, including Steam, GOG, Epic Games, and Humble Bundle, on June 27. Since then, our team has been hard at work on an additional patch that’s live now on PC and consoles, including Xbox One, Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. We're still waiting for patch approval from Nintendo, with the patch expected to roll out on Nintendo Switch in the coming weeks.
HOTFIX (7.11.2025)
Fixed HUD scaling incorrectly when reverting settings.
Fixed saves sometimes failing to load.
PC PATCH #2 / CONSOLE DAY ONE PATCH (1.1)
Fixed music not playing at all in certain levels.
Added many more bindable actions on keyboard and controller, such as using more types of hypos and placing navigation markers.
Players can now hotswap their positions in a lobby session.
Fixed the options screen scrolling while using a controller.
Gun muzzle flashes now appear correctly on the ends of guns.
Raised maximum number of navigation markers from 1 to 12 per player.
Fixed the multiplayer menu sometimes randomly opening.
Fixed various animation and AI issues in multiplayer.
Fixed “Lean Toggle” not working properly on keyboard. "Lean Toggle" is now unbound by default on keyboard to prevent confusion.

KNOWN ISSUES
There is a bug that is causing players to get stuck on some corners. This will be fixed in the next patch.
The “Advanced Ammo Usage” help text is incorrect in English.
There are some quirks when using multi-monitor setups with at least one very high refresh rate monitor.
Customized bindings may be temporarily incorrect while the player’s inventory is open.
KNOWN ISSUES (FOR MODDERS)
There is a bug that is causing wrong IDs (when compared to NewDark) assigned to relations. This will be fixed in the next patch.
There is a bug that is causing fingerprinting checks to only succeed when all fingerprints match, instead of only one match being enough. This will be fixed in the next patch.

PATCH NOTES
Fixed invincible enemies in co-op multiplayer.
Fixed a bug where analog sticks on secondary controllers would not work properly, this was seen particularly on Steam Deck with an external controller attached.
Autosaves in multiplayer will now save the session information, preventing multiplayer playthroughs from being lost when relying on autosaves.
Added analog stick edge acceleration for controllers which increases the speed you look around at when the stick reaches its maximum distance. Turning around quickly is now easier without compromising precise aiming.
Increased the default turning sensitivity on controllers from 1.0 to 1.5.
Increased the default deadzone on controllers from 0.1/0.1 to 0.24/0.265.
General improvements to controller input.
Fixed the “apply” button in the mods menu having no effect.
Keyboard and Mouse controls have been moved to the top of the Controls screen.
Fixed flickering screens on some objects (fixes for other screens in-progress).
Fixed “the lights trying to talk” in Engineering B causing a crash for players with certain mods disabled.
We have been reading through all player comments and feedback, and are working to resolve reported bugs and issues as quickly as possible. We will have additional patches in the coming weeks.
