The Lord of the Rings: War in the North™ - Legacy Edition expands Tolkien’s epic legendarium, delving into the brutal, untold story of Agandaûr, a Black Númenórean and servant of Sauron who has rallied an immense force in the ruins of Fornost. While Frodo and Samwise embark on their journey to Mount Doom, a new Fellowship must rise and defend the North. Let this be the hour when we draw swords together!
Choose Your Orc-Bane – Seamlessly hot-swap between three uniquely skilled characters.
Eradan: Dúnedain Ranger–Stealth and precision with bows and swords
Andriel: Elven Loremaster–Magical support with healing and area-of-effect spells
Farin: Dwarven Champion–Tank-like durability and devastating melee attacks
Co-op Fellowship – Play with up to 2 friends online or in split-screen co-op. The survival of your Fellowship and all of Middle-earth depends upon your uniquely skilled heroes working together. Fight together or die alone!
Deep RPG Progression – Customize your hero with unique skills, abilities, and gear. Collect powerful weapons and armor to shape your playstyle.
Command a Great Eagle – Call upon Beleram, a mighty Great Eagle, to strike from the skies and turn the tide of battle.
Iconic Cameos & Locations – Encounter familiar faces like Aragorn, Gandalf, and Elrond as you journey through lore-rich locations including the Elven sanctuaries of Rivendell and Lórien, the daunting heights of The Lonely Mountain, and the fog-laden paths of Mirkwood.
Darker, Grittier Middle-earth – Experience the brutal reality of war with mature storytelling, blood-soaked battlefields, and the desperate fight to defend the North against Sauron’s advancing armies.
A World Full of Peril – The world is gnawed by nameless things. Face ruthless Orcs, monstrous Trolls, deadly Wargs, spectral Barrow-wights, and the dark sorcery of Agandaûr’s forces in epic battles across Middle-earth. Don’t be hasty—Agandaûr commands even greater terrors, summoning Fell Beasts and Creatures of Shadow to his aid.

Clearer roads north: quest tracking fixes and cleared progression blockers keep your journey moving
Headshots are back: ranged attacks land true on goblins, Uruk-hai, and more
Fallen heroes return: back in the fight with at least 2 health and power potions and 20 arrows or bolts
Companion, visual, and audio polish across Middle-earth
Bug Fixes
Improved co-op stability, with fixes for crashes during matchmaking, on loading screens, and when returning to hubs like Bree and Fornost.
Fixed players joining a host getting stuck on the map selection.
Fixed a freeze that could occur when another player with a slow connection joined during a loading screen.
Fixed a progression blocker in Fornost where a goblin could be launched somewhere out of reach.
Blocked off an area in the Grey Mountains where heroes could be knocked out of bounds.
Fixed when Scroll 7 would not count toward the "Cult of the Lidless Eye" side quest.
The Urgost introductory cutscene no longer skips when loading the checkpoint.
Mission summary stats are now kept when returning to town mid-mission.
The War-Mechanist Achievement/Trophy now counts kills across your whole fellowship instead of per character.
Headshot hitboxes have been restored on goblins, Uruk-hai, and other enemies throughout the game.
Health potions now fill the health bar steadily, as intended.
Allies no longer get stuck after opening a Secret Stash, and can now be called to a stash from farther away.
Luin now keeps moving as intended after loading a save.
The revive prompt no longer appears when another player is already reviving a fallen hero.
Fixed some equipment getting lost when using a respec token.
Map fragments are no longer wasted when used from an inactive character's inventory.
Fixed distorted audio that could play when finishing an enemy with a critical strike.
Undead no longer T-pose during a Barrow-Downs cutscene.
Textures in Osgiliath, the Coldfells, and Urgost's Lair no longer vanish when viewed from certain angles.
Fixed severe stretching on some character models.
Item description panels no longer disappear when equipping certain weapons during combat.
Item notifications now show the correct amount when sending the same item multiple times.
Removed an inaccurate loading screen tip.
Faster EULA scrolling with a controller.
Smoother mouse wheel scrolling in settings menus.
Added Steam controller glyphs for Steam and Steam Deck.
