About the Game
Allows you to play animated wallpapers on your desktop.
Designed to run efficiently in the background with minimal impact on system performance.
COMMUNITY
Explore live wallpapers created by other users and set them as your background instantly.
IMPORT YOUR OWN
Already have something? Use any image or video from your computer.
CREATION
There are three simple ways to create your own animated wallpaper:
Generate from a prompt: Describe a scene. AI creates an image, then animates it into a seamless loop.
Animate your own image: Import any photo or artwork and bring it to life instantly.
Remix existing wallpapers: Take any wallpaper and generate new variations with AI.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Community wallpapers and importing your own files are unlimited and free.
AI creation comes with an included allowance, no extra purchases:
Images: up to 5 per day.
Animations: 3 on your first day, then 1 per day during your first two weeks, then 1 per week after that. Unused animations bank up (up to 5), so you can save them for later.
If a generation fails due to an error, the attempt is returned to you.

New
- Search by mood - search now understands a wallpaper's mood and style, not just what it depicts, so queries like "cozy" or "dark and moody" find fitting wallpapers even when those words never appear in the title.
Improvements
- Home rows no longer repeat the same artwork: remixes and re-generations of one wallpaper are grouped, and only the best version shows. Search still finds every variant.
- Row titles now match what the rows actually contain; rows that couldn't deliver on their title were removed.
- The recent wallpapers row favors new wallpapers that are picking up favorites, instead of strictly newest first.
- Wallpapers that keep getting passed over give up their home-row spot to fresher picks.
- The page indicator bars under each row are now clickable: click a bar to jump straight to that page.
- Prompts are capped at 2000 characters, with a clear message if you go over.
Fixes
- Various stability and reliability improvements.
New
- Limits, explained - the create studio now shows how many animations you have ready and when the next one arrives, and a "Why the limits?" link opens the full breakdown: what each creation costs, how image and animation allowances refill, and how unused animation slots bank up.
- Original creator credit - remixed wallpapers now show an "original by" line crediting the creator whose work they build on, including remixes made by editing an image.
Improvements
- Running out of images or animations now tells you why and when the next ones arrive, instead of a bare "none left".
- Home rows are titled by style and subject, and each row sticks closer to its theme.
- The 1080p enhancement applied to every animation uses a new, better upscaler.
- If an animation fails to render, its slot is returned automatically.
Fixes
- An unread error notification is no longer lost when a newer notification replaces it; it returns once the newer one is dismissed.
- Republishing a wallpaper no longer re-announces its old favorites as new.
- Fixed a case where switching wallpapers could silently fail.
- Various stability and reliability improvements.
Improvements
- Seamless wallpaper switching - picking a new wallpaper now hands over directly from the old video to the new one. No more still image flashing on screen while the video loads. (Windows)
- The wallpaper resumes almost instantly after you close a fullscreen game or unlock your PC. (Windows)
Fixes
- Fixed the wallpaper disappearing and reappearing about once a minute on setups where a wallpaper was assigned to a specific screen but not to all of them. (Windows)
- The screen selector's numbered buttons now render as true circles. (Windows)
- Various stability and reliability improvements.
New
- Per-monitor wallpapers - a screen selector in the top-left corner lets you target all monitors or a single one. Playing, generating, and importing apply to the selected screen, so each monitor can run its own wallpaper. (Windows)
Improvements
- New animations generate at higher video quality.
- Wallpapers render sharper during playback, especially when scaled up to fit your monitor.
- Favorites are now the one counter you see everywhere: the creator leaderboard ranks by favorites, and the launch toast reports new favorites on your published wallpapers instead of keeps.
- The first-launch welcome note now has a Join the Discord button. (Windows)
Fixes
- Creators tied on the leaderboard no longer share the same rank number.
- Various stability and reliability improvements.
New
- Pause while covered - wallpaper playback pauses when a window fully covers a monitor or the session is locked, and resumes the moment the desktop is visible again. Saves GPU and battery; can be turned off in Settings. (Windows)
- Creator updates on launch - if your published wallpapers earned new keeps since you last checked, a toast tells you the total and which wallpaper gained the most.
- Weekly leaderboard - the creator leaderboard now has Weekly and All-time tabs.
- "This one didn't count" - when a failed or flagged creation is refunded, the failure message now says so, instead of leaving you guessing about your remaining daily creations.
Improvements
- Rejected generations now explain what was flagged so you can reword instead of retrying blind, and images featuring branded products are no longer rejected.
- New community wallpapers get plain, descriptive titles that say what they show.
- The Public toggle in the hero now explains why publishing is unavailable instead of silently doing nothing.
- First launch is less busy: prompts appear one at a time and the review ask is gone.
- Settings now shows the app version.
Fixes
- Animations that fail now say so, with the reason when one was rejected; previously they could silently disappear.
- A connection drop or app restart no longer loses a pending animation; checking resumes until the result is in.
- Your last wallpaper appears in the hero immediately at startup instead of a brief empty frame.
- The report dialog opens correctly from the hero and stays open for a retry if submitting fails.
- Various stability and reliability improvements.
Improvements
- Community browsing is much faster - Explore rows, search, and the gallery now load almost instantly.
- Deleting the wallpaper you are playing now hands playback to your newest remaining wallpaper instead of leaving the screen empty.
- With an empty library, the home screen now shows a proper starting screen instead of a blank area.
- The billboard's info now reads as one credit line (Now Playing, type, creator, counts) instead of a row of button-like chips, and counts of zero are hidden.
Fixes
- Fixed extremely slow loading and downloads for players in Russia - the app now connects over a route that is no longer throttled there.
- Switching wallpapers on the home billboard no longer flashes gray - changes now read as a smooth cross-cut.
- The still-image badge on cards was nearly invisible; it now sits on a clear glass chip.
- Deleting a wallpaper that just finished playing could silently fail while the player still held the file (Windows) - it is now retried and, if needed, cleaned up on the next launch.
- The app icon now displays correctly in the Steam client and community.
- Various stability and reliability improvements.
New
- 10 new languages - Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Italian, Ukrainian, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Czech. The app is now available in 18 languages.
- Seamless animation loops - generated animations are trimmed to loop without a visible jump when the clip restarts.
- Animation countdown - while your wallpaper is animating, the billboard shows an estimated time remaining, and a notification appears the moment it's ready.
- Redesigned home screen - browsing leads: a full billboard of what's playing, search, and community rows up front. Creation tools open from a single Create button.
- Saved is now Favorites - hearts replace bookmarks everywhere. The Favorites button shows how many wallpapers you've collected and pulses when a new one lands.
- Still-image badge - a small photo icon marks non-animated wallpapers in the gallery, so you can tell stills from animations at a glance.
Improvements
- Animations now come from an allowance that refills over time instead of a flat daily limit: you start with 3, gain one per day for your first two weeks, then one per week, and can store up to 5. A countdown shows when the next one arrives. Images stay at 5 per day.
- Your own wallpapers show a Delete button right on the billboard, so removing a creation no longer means hunting down its card.
- Community browsing and search respond faster during busy hours.
Fixes
- If an animation is rejected by content moderation, its use is refunded in full.
- Wallpapers now cover monitors that come online after startup, such as a display turned on after login. (Windows)
- Fixed a crash when wallpaper text used certain rare scripts. (Linux)
- Creator names written in rare alphabets now display instead of being dropped.
- Search no longer briefly shows the Create suggestion before results have loaded.
New
- High-priority startup - your wallpaper can load right at login, before the desktop finishes coming up. Turn it on from the first-launch startup prompt or in Settings. (Windows)
- Update prompt - when a new version is ready, the app shows a prompt with a one-click Quit to update.
Improvements
- Wallpapers are added to your library only when you bookmark them, not automatically when you play or download one.
Fixes
- Closing Steam no longer stops your wallpaper or kills the tray icon. The wallpaper keeps playing, the tray stays available, and the app reconnects on its own when Steam reopens.
- Stopping the app from your Steam library now quits it cleanly.
- Clearer startup status: the app now tells "waiting for Steam" apart from "offline" and no longer spins an empty loading screen when offline.
- Correct monitor sizing on high-DPI and multi-monitor setups. (Windows)
- The first-launch startup prompt no longer briefly freezes the window. (Windows)
- The app updates correctly when high-priority startup is enabled. (Windows)
- Better fallback on KDE and Steam Runtime setups where the desktop integration was previously unreachable. (Linux)
- Various stability and reliability fixes.
New
- KDE Plasma video wallpapers (Linux) - Animated wallpapers run natively on KDE, keeping your desktop icons and layout in place.
- Leaderboard ranks by keeps - Creators are now ranked by how many people keep their wallpapers running, instead of by saves.
- Keep and save counts on the spotlight - The featured wallpaper shows how many people keep it and how many have saved it.
Improvements
- Cards no longer show the count chip or NEW badge.
- Errors now show a clear retry message instead of technical text.
- On first launch, your imported wallpaper appears in the spotlight right away.
- More reliable wallpaper switching and restore on KDE.
Fixes
- Fixed the app failing to start on some clean Windows installs.
- Fixed unsaving a wallpaper not always sticking.
- Fixed the animating indicator appearing on the wrong wallpaper.
- Various stability and reliability fixes.
Wallpaper Animator Update
Daily generation replaces energy
Energy has been replaced with a daily generation allowance for full-game owners: 10 image generations and 3 video animations per day, reset at midnight UTC. No credits to spend or save. In-app energy purchases have been removed.
Unlimited community downloads
The download cap in demo on community wallpapers has been removed.
Keeps count and NEW badge
Cards and the hero now show a public keeps count: the number of people who have run a wallpaper for an hour or more, rather than just opened it. Wallpapers published in the last week show a NEW badge.
Smarter Discover rows
Discover rows are now ranked by keep rate from a much broader pool of themes and franchises, instead of a fixed lineup. More rows, ranked by what people actually keep running.
Polish
New ringed-planet app icon. Smoother Discover scrolling on Linux.
Every creator can now compete & gets extra energy depending on how liked the wallpapers they share are.
These updates are meant to incentivize high quality wallpaper creation.
