Regular Updates as the Final Version of the Game is Completed
More than 20 updates have already been carried out, each bringing new features and/or improvements to the game. While waiting for the development to be completed, you can enjoy regular updates that further enhance your gaming experience. In some of our recent updates, new features have been added, optimizations implemented, and themed updates released, such as Christmas and June party themes. On the other hand, you can also choose a life of crime, undertaking dangerous tasks such as drug delivery, bill collection, or facing the city's factions. Conquer your space, take control of criminal operations, collect profits from the operation, and recruit other criminals to help you in new ventures. However, be careful, as the police forces are always vigilant to outlaw activities!
This is an Alpha version in early access intended for enthusiasts who want to enjoy the game casually or individuals interested in actively participating in development by providing valuable feedback on their experience. The current content may contain bugs, and the mechanics present in the game may be subject to instability or temporarily disabled for necessary polishing. The development of the final version of 171 is progressing very well! The entire team is dedicated to delivering a complete and polished experience for all players. We’ll be announcing important news and a release window soon.
We’re heavily investing in expanding the content for the final version. Our goal is to deliver a full world inspired by the rich diversity of São Paulo: small towns, farms, open fields, major cities, mountains, beaches, and more. We’ve also expanded every other aspect of the game: a greater variety of characters – with different styles, behaviors, and accents to reflect greater diversity – more vehicles, and much more interactivity with the game world. We want this experience to feel brand new and far more immersive compared to the Alpha version.
It’s worth highlighting that all the work done in the Alpha version laid the foundation for reaching this new stage. Creating the core systems of the game takes much more time and effort than expanding them. But once these systems are in place, adding and improving features becomes much faster. For example, creating the first vehicle system may take days or even weeks – but adding a second one can take just minutes after modeling. This logic applies to all other game systems.
We’re also working on an engaging story mode that dives deep into the characters and their motivations, allowing players to truly immerse themselves in the world of 171.
We know many of you are eager for news – and that makes us proud. Right now, our main focus is fully on completing the final version. That’s why Alpha updates and promotional content have been released less frequently, just like this update. However, our commitment to the project remains strong! We’re constantly expanding the team, bringing in new talent, and doubling down on our vision.

- Now, the death screen automatically restarts the game after a few seconds.
- Physics have been added to the soccer balls throughout the map.
- When loading a saved game, it starts at Nicolau's house, allowing quicker access to the saved vehicle.
- Shortcuts for quick weapon access have been added using the numbered keys 1 to 5.
- Sun shadows have been enhanced for a smoother effect.
- Motorcycle configuration updated to fall and lose speed more gradually upon collision. This prevents Nicolau from falling with every collision, but in significant crashes, he will fall.
- Configured unmanned motorcycles to fall on their own when moving above 5km/h.
- Increased character optimization distance (characters were walking in low frames too close to the player).
- Added the ability to change the weapon model through the controller when there is more than one weapon in the same category in the inventory.

- Fixed an issue with savegames that were not loading in certain situations. Now, savegames are correctly listed in the saved slots for loading.
- Fixed an issue with savegames that were not being saved in certain situations. Now, save slots can be used normally to save progress.
- Fixed the name of the newly added vehicle, Mercanto, which displayed the wrong name after the player entered the vehicle.
Important Notes:
- After the migration of the graphics engine, we noticed some issues when reloading saves made in the TWO WHEELS update. Unfortunately, the saved vehicle in the garage and conquered areas could not be recovered in this update. However, everything else will continue to function normally. We are willing to assist anyone who wishes to recover the saved vehicle in the garage and conquered areas in their progress. To do so, please contact us via email at: [email protected] during this month of December and January, providing details about which areas were conquered or which vehicle was in your garage, including possible vehicle customizations. We appreciate your understanding in advance.
- Make a backup of the savegame files located in the "Appdata/Local/BGG" directory before proceeding with the update.
IMPROVEMENTS
- Implemented a dynamic statistics system in weapon and weapon modification stores, where each item dynamically changes the attributes of accuracy, range, and weapon capacity.
- Reduced the camera shake effect when Nicolau shoots.
- Improved the artificial intelligence of the recruit.

- Fixed an issue with old save games that did not load correctly (experimental).
- Fixed a blockage that prevented the player from taking characters as hostages.
- Fixed the collision of bamboo that was causing cars and characters to get stuck.
- Fixed the tuning of the Mercanto car, where it was possible to add body kits from another car.
- Fixed some situations that blocked the selection of weapons.

- Fixed an issue that blocked sparks on the wheel of the car when in contact with the ground after the tire burst.
The reason why this update is larger than usual is due to the graphics engine update to Unreal Engine 5. The upcoming game updates will return to a smaller size.
GAMEPLAY
- Weapon customization system: In addition to the visual aspect, each weapon modification now has a practical effect during gameplay. You can now customize your weapons at a specific shop on the map. Customization options include:
- Standard or extended magazine, providing a larger ammunition capacity before needing to reload.
- Addition of scopes (arcade), allowing for increased zoom during aiming, depending on the chosen scope type.
- Addition of lasers, improving shot accuracy.
- Addition or modification of stocks and grips, increasing weapon stability during shots and, consequently, accuracy, depending on the chosen stock type.
- Addition of suppressor, reducing the sound of the weapon shot for a more stealthy approach. Moreover, you can customize the paint of your weapon according to your taste.
- Added enemy cover system: During confrontations, enemies now seek protection behind trees, buildings, and other obstacles when in danger, providing a more dynamic combat experience.
- Introduced the possibility of recruiting criminals in conquered areas. Recruits follow and protect Nicolau in his endeavors, engaging in conflicts against authorities, other criminals, and even pedestrians. Recruits accompany Nicolau on foot and also get into vehicles when necessary. They can shoot and participate in confrontations even while inside vehicles. When in the passenger seat of a car, they lean on the door to shoot, while on the back of a motorcycle, they can shoot to protect the player.
- When the ammunition of a firearm is depleted, it remains in the inventory, facilitating management between purchasing ammunition and paints in the shops.
- Introduced a new radial weapon selector system:
- Traditional mode: By scrolling the mouse wheel, you can quickly access available weapon categories.
- Detailed mode: By pressing ALT and moving the mouse, you have full access to the weapon inventory, allowing you to switch between categories and models while the game is in slow motion.
- Consumables can now be accessed through the weapon wheel, providing greater control and resource management.
- Christmas theme added to the game map.
OPTIMIZATION
- Deep optimization in some of the game's core systems, including an improvement in the object spawn system throughout the environment and enhancements in the navigation system and raycasts of characters and vehicles in the world, resulting in a significant performance improvement in gameplay.
- All models, textures, and materials of buildings and property objects, such as gates, fences, doors, and windows, have been reworked and optimized. This has led to a reduction in the number of draw calls, ensuring more efficient rendering of the environment and, consequently, a performance increase.
- Support for super resolution has been updated through the implementation of DLSS 3.5, providing an enhanced visual experience.
- The option to change the game's DirectX has been added, offering two options:
- DirectX 11: More suitable for older GPUs.
- DirectX 12: Recommended for newer GPUs.
- The Apex Destruction methodology has been replaced by Chaos Destruction, promoting a more advanced and efficient approach to managing destruction in the game.
IMPROVEMENTS
- The game engine has been updated to version 5.3.2, enabling the use of more recent development tools. Currently, we are not yet utilizing the cutting-edge rendering and physics tools available in Unreal Engine 5.
- Models and textures of all firearms have undergone a redesign.
- Specific improvements in armed combat.
- Enhancements in camera position and FOV.
- Camera shake effects have been improved, providing a more immersive experience.
- The gun firing particle has also been enhanced with a more realistic lighting effect.
- Nicolau's aiming and shooting animations during armed combat have been improved.
- Animations for the game's weapons have been added, with specific movements for each detail of the weapon, including the Trigger, Bolt, Cylinder, Tile, Hammer, etc.
- Reloads have also received improvements; now, the cartridge is removed and inserted back into the weapon during the reload animation.
- The blur effect has been enhanced, providing even better definition to the game.
- The subprefecture flowerbed, which had reliefs that could affect vehicle handling, has been leveled to provide a smoother experience.
- A firing effect has been added for helicopter shooters, increasing immersion and realism during combat.
FIXES
- Fixed an issue that prevented the game from progressing in the menu when selecting Mandarin language, where the error displayed the text '171NPC' on the initial menu.
- Fixed LowLevelFatalError issue on some older GPUs.
- Fixed an issue with pedestrians' cars not turning the wheel during a curve.
- When popping a wheelie on the motorcycle, the rear wheel now respects the ground location.
- Mitigated the possibility of car wheels climbing on nearby objects.
- Corrected the direction of the muzzle flash.
- Fixed animations and content with negative values when using consumables.
Other Information:
During the implementation of DLSS 3, we were surprised by the anticipated release of FSR 3. However, due to its timing in relation to our development sprint, we opted for implementation in subsequent updates, thus bringing performance improvements to more players.
Some animations used in this update are placeholders. We will be acquiring mocap equipment at the beginning of 2024. This will assist us in creating custom animations for use in the game.
The progress of the weapon wheel construction is constantly evolving. It will receive even more features in the upcoming updates, and your feedback is crucial for good progress. Some functionalities using a joystick are currently limited but should be updated as soon as possible.
Note: The game currently has partial controller support, as described on our Steam page. However, it should be stabilized as development progresses towards the final version of the game.
The DirectX system, when changed in the settings menu, requires manual game restart for the correct application of the system. An automated restart system will be implemented once we introduce a custom launcher, due to engine limitations.
