{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42850092/575ec4c0332bc14811be79aa53c53df0bdcb7ae5.jpg
PERFORMANCE
Added an experimental option to fix the stutters that players with uncapped FPS suffered when playing with high frequency monitors (requires more powerful PCs and changes to settings.json file).
This allows you to manually set the rate at which all game systems are updated (including camera movement, which was the main culprit for the stuttery feeling encountered at high framerate).
How to enable the fix:
- Download the file available on Focus Together here
- Replace your settings file with the pre-made one you just downloaded, it will activate the fix, but it will reset all the rest of your options to defaults.
Formatting tips:
- Make sure to respect the formatting of the json file (spaces, tabulations ...etc.).
- If you add the line in the middle of the text block, don't forget the comma at the end of it. It will not work without it.
- If the line that you add is the last line, it doesn't need a comma at the end.
Warnings & Guidelines:
- The higher you set the value, the more resource intensive the game will become, which can lead to potential slowdowns.
- We advise to try this experimental fix only if your system specs are vastly above the recommended specs for the game.
- If you want to try the fix, we advise to first set the setting's value to a framerate that your machine can hit most of the time in game (for example, if your machine can play the game at an average of 100 fps, even in intensive situations, then you can start with the setting's value to 100).
- If the game doesn't behave well with a high value, reducing it should help performance (for example, if a value of 100 leads to slowdowns, you can try 90 or 80, and adjust based on your tests' results).
- On the contrary, if the game runs well with the value that you set, then you can try to progressively crank up the value, to reach the smoothest experience possible.
- If you want to go back to the default behavior of the game, simply put the value to 60 (default), or delete the line from the settings file.
STABILITY
- In some rare cases, when the EOS matchmaking option is enabled, crash may happen when quitting the game or going into co-op mode. If that happens, disabling the EOS matchmaking option should fix the issue.
- Fixed a crash that happened with specific SteamDeck settings changes
- Fixed an issue that caused players to have a black screen during one of the tutorials
- Fixed an issue that caused Corruption Breach events to end when playing in co-op and the host dies
- Fixed a crash that happens when disconnecting from co-op sessions after one of the player dies

- Fixed an issues where players could skip the save conversion process from base game into Reign of Sand edition leading to further issues
- Fixed an issue that caused certain bosses to take extra damage in NG+

- Fixed a visual issue that caused options in the Anvil Menu to be grayed out when they shouldn’t (and the opposite for when they shouldn’t)
- Fixed a visual issue that caused the Anvil menu to display a broken reference under specific conditions

Get ready to conquer the Source and its tremendous mysteries! 💥
Watch Reign of Sand's launch trailer below:
All-new Challenge area: the Source
Explore the very fabric of God’s limbo and wield new powers in various epic challenges.
During your exploration, you’ll encounter special Rifts across the world. Interacting with these portals allows you to enter the Source as Nyaal. In this seemingly endless desert teeming with shattered giant structures you’ll face new challenges and unearth key elements that help you better understand the past.
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42850092/f7efc4ebeb4c3935a76d737ce316844b675b24c1.gif
The Source features exciting combat centered around the new gameplay mechanic of Wraith Abilities. Within the limbo, you’ll unlock wraith-like powers, allowing you to master the sand like never before.
- Transform into a Shellshocker and unleash a devastating tornado that damages enemies and generates momentum.
- Morph into a Mawer to perform a forward dash, damaging opponents as you pass through them.
Combine these new abilities with swift sand surfing to overcome this menacing sand limbo. Each challenge provides rewards and uncovers previously untold story fragments related to the War of Gods.

New monsters join the cast!
New threats emerge in the world of Atlas Fallen! With Reign of Sand, we aim to offer you a refined combat experience and unique challenges to overcome. A diverse range of enemies is crucial to convey a satisfying sense of progression and ensure a consistently fresh gameplay experience. So, let’s introduce some of our new Wraith Challengers!
Morpher
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42850092/84c09c63b72153cd78a94502cfe8961f9413f8d6.jpg
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42850092/f2f59cc73868b401a34646605e354f0cc05988c7.jpg
The Morpher is a nimble new Wraith that challenges you both in the air and on the ground. While airborne, this foe attacks with swift strikes focused on speed and mobility. In contrast, it resorts to powerful melee attacks when grounded.
These two distinct behaviors require you to adapt on the fly to stand a chance.
Transmuter
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42850092/7dd6c18d1d2a325c2f84f124b11512d0794ac9c8.jpg
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42850092/e9a25746a609ecf4bcee7560a42af48e04e7f665.jpg
Prepare to face this bulky Wraith capable of devastating strikes.
It begins by unleashing powerful but slow attacks. Sounds easy to dodge, right? However, there’s a catch: each destroyed body part triggers an evolution in its combat pattern, granting new abilities that are significantly faster. This dynamic creates an evolving fight, forcing you to react strategically.
Weaver
Meet the Weaver - a small yet nasty parasitic Wraith. It performs a binding ritual to enhance its host’s power and spread the new Affliction status (available in NG+ only). Once the ritual is complete, it moves on to another host, starting the process anew. Despite its agility, the Weaver won’t attack unless provoked.
New Essence Stones
With Atlas Fallen, we’ve introduced a new way to play according to your preferences, featuring cool and unique abilities called Essence Stones. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock, find, or craft these powerful stones, each granting you impactful gameplay modifiers or super-powered abilities.
Reign of Sand update introduces 25 new Essence Stones to further expand your combat arsenal. Let me showcase four of them :
- Let’s start with Momentum Phoenix: A new Stone that summons a Tailwhipper. This creature flies toward your target, creating burning areas on the floor, damaging enemies, and generating momentum. It’s perfect for dealing with groups of wraiths, thanks to its impressive area-of-effect capability.
- Healing Alliance is another new Stone that proves incredibly useful for both solo play and cooperative mode. It summons a friendly Mender, which follows and massively heals nearby damaged players for 15 seconds. Additionally, the Mender can sacrifice itself once to prevent your or your ally’s death. You’ll quickly grow fond of this little companion!
- Some newly added Essence Stones are corrupted, making you more vulnerable to damage. However, they provide strong counterparts. Afflicted Overcharge is a simple yet super-effective ability. It conjures massive shockwaves around you, crystallizing all hit foes for an extended duration, immobilizing them while reducing their defense.
- Unleash your inner wrath with Bestial Claws. This new Stone summons Marauder claws, allowing you to shred enemies with powerful slash attacks. You can even chain these attacks twice to perform combo maneuvers with increased damage.
There are many more exciting new Essence Stones to discover, and we sincerely hope you’ll enjoy them!
You can learn more about Essence Stones here:
Corruption Breaches
In the world of Atlas, the Watcher is a giant floating divine structure that constantly gazes upon you, bringing forth threats and unexpected wraith ambushes during your exploration.
With Corruption Breaches, we introduce a new open-world activity—a dynamic event that offers an intense combat experience. These challenges constantly evolve, providing you with opportunities to earn special rewards.
As you venture through the game, you’ll come across special Breaches. Interact with it to reveal the type of challenge that awaits you. Each breach is influenced by unique gameplay modifiers, requiring you to adapt your playstyle to succeed. These modifiers set specific objectives and introduce buffs and debuffs to spice up the fight. For instance, you might experience a significant increase in Momentum gain but lose the ability to perform jumps during the challenge.
As you progress through these trials, you’ll encounter many other modifiers. These intense yet rewarding combats grant you materials, unique Essence Stones, and new customization options.
New Game +
With Reign of Sand, we aim to provide additional and meaningful ways to enjoy a new playthrough. But we’re not stopping at a simple replay!
After completing the main story campaign once, you can choose to start a new adventure in our newly-added New Game + mode. Carry over all the equipment, materials, currency, and character progression you’ve already accumulated and enjoy a new super-powered playthrough.
New Game + introduces an updated enemy population, providing surprises along the way. Stronger, unexpected foes can now be encountered in earlier levels. Be cautious, as each of your enemies can be corrupted by the Weaver, a new support monster that buffs nearby wraiths with Affliction, causing them to deal additional special damage. If you get hit by their attacks, your health will be reduced. Defeating the Weaver quickly is crucial to increasing your chance of victory.
Additionally, NG+ brings 3 new armors and unique rewards, including new Essence Stones to adjust your progression to the challenge. But that’s not all—we’re introducing a new Weapon Upgrade System that allows you to further improve your different weapons with stronger, impactful modifiers.

New Difficulty Mode “Nyaal’s Nightmare”
Once you’ve completed the main Story Campaign, it’s up to you to increase the challenge by selecting the newly added “Nyaal's Nightmare” difficulty, exclusive to NG+. With an updated enemy population, this mode requires you to master all game mechanics to face even tougher foes. Alternatively, you can choose to play NG+ on the difficulty level of your choice, simply enjoying a playthrough with overpowered capacities.

Revamped First Hours and New Voice Cast
We’ve made significant enhancements to the game’s opening hours and universe introduction. Our focus has been on improving pacing, refining storytelling, enhancing cinematics, diversifying combat, overhauling VFX and SFX and addressing various specific areas to create an overall enhanced player experience.
With Reign of Sand Update, you’ll also encounter a fresh voice cast for several characters. This includes both male and female main playable protagonists, as well as Nyall—the entity that powers your Gauntlet. With the talented support of Ben Starr (known for Final Fantasy XVI and Warframe), who voices the male player character, we hope you’ll enjoy this new perspective on our sand-covered fantasy world.
