Skater XL is the evolution of skateboarding gameplay. With it’s Independent Foot Control System and unique physics-based gameplay, skate gamers finally have the expressive controls they have always dreamed of.
Dive into skateboarding paradise with levels that feature famous skate landmarks and environmental elements, including Downtown LA, the ginormous The Big Ramp, Easy Day High School, and community created maps like Grant Park, Hüdland and Streets. Play as some of today’s top skateboarding pros Tiago Lemos, Evan Smith, Tom Asta and Brandon Westgate, or customize and create your own skateboarding legend with gear from more than 30 real skate brands. Skater XL is truly the skateboarding world’s digital counterpart.
Skater XL features include:
Freedom Of Expression - Skater XL’s physics-based controls don’t have any pre-programmed tricks - only the movement through the thumbsticks. Each thumbstick is connected to the corresponding foot of the skater and as the player moves the stick, the board instantly responds. Much like a musical instrument, the player has complete freedom, whether it be pushing to nail a line or skating free from.
Multiplayer Free Skate - Link up and skate with your friends in groups of up to 10 players and shoot replays together.
Real Life Iconic Locations - Skater XL levels are all inspired real-world skate areas and designed to ensure a constant flow of skate lines. From the DTLA Map with skateboarding landmarks around the Staples Center and LA Convention Center, to Easy Day High School’s sprawling campus of iconic skate spots like the Wallenberg Big 4 and the ‘Leap of Faith’, to the humongous ‘Big Ramp,’ where skaters can soar higher than a hawk.
Play As Real-Life Skate Pros - Select from renowned pros Tiago Lemos, Brandon Westgate, Evan Smith, and Tom Asta, all with their own distinct gear that fits their style.
Customizable Characters - The possibilities are endless to personalize the Skater XL experience. Players can customize their entire look, including their skater’s gear with different tees, hoodies, hats and shoes from over 30 of the most recognized skate brands like Vans, Santa Cruz, DC Shoes, Independent, Lakai and many more.

Dive into a passionate community with more than 100,000 members in Discord (the biggest Discord in the World for reference is Fortnite at 500k, amazing given that Skater XL is still in Early Access!) who create online zines, video parts, fakeskate brands, and hundreds of mods. Players can become part of a bigger ecosystem and join the digital skateboarding subculture where they can share their creativity on the newly launched Skater XL modding hub, Skaterxl.mod.io.

What is up guys? We wanted to let you know about a minor update we’ve made to the Public Branch of the PC game, with the addition of Challenge Lines in the News Feed. These challenges are a small addition designed to help you hone your skills, explore different skate spots, and warm up for your Skater XL sessions. The new challenge lines offer a variety of difficulty levels, providing opportunities to practice and improve your skating. Want an extra challenge? Try them switch or in the opposite stance.
All of the original map challenges in the game are now available in switch stance too and can be found in the Challenges menu.
We’ll be updating these challenge lines regularly, so check back in the News Feed from time to time to see what’s new. You can check out the first spot challenge at JKwon Plaza by opening the News Feed from the main menu and selecting the most recent article. Then hit “Play Challenge” and the challenge will start.
In addition, Evan Smith's gear has been updated to reflect his new shoe sponsor - Clearweather Footwear. Check them out and give Evan's character a play.

Today’s update contains the following improvements and optimizations:
- Deep reworking of many art assets and systems to give frame rate improvements across all original 1.0 game maps. An average gain of +8 FPS Downtown Los Angeles +6 FPS in Easy Day Highschool on base model Xbox One, with similar increases on low spec PC's and base PS4 and all maps now running at 60+ except for DTLA (which averages 59FPS).
- New GPU efficient “Decal” replacement system implemented allowing re-inclusion of extra detailing texture layers, reflections etc. in original maps.
- Updated animated elements in some maps including vegetation and environmental features.
- Nickname in Multiplayer now locked to platform username to prevent offensive and inappropriate names
- Minor bug fixes including PS4 memory crashes, environment and online player SFX volume saved settings not applied on game start, and bug in Replay List Menu where highlight replay from mod map (that is not current map) preview image is not shown properly.

We are very happy to announce that Skater XL Multiplayer Free Skate mode is out of Beta and now available for players on all platforms! With this update, friends from all corners of the world can link up online and share a skate session together.
Skateboarding is more fun with friends, and there’s nothing quite like hanging out, talking shop, and vibing off each other. That essential experience inspired us to create Skater XL’s online Multiplayer Free Skate mode.

Multiplayer Free Skate mode is built to replicate the energy and hype of a real life skate session as closely as possible. No rules or barriers, you and the homies decide where to skate, what to skate, and how to skate it. Whether you want to match each other trick for trick, choreograph party lines, or just vibe off each other in a more freeform way, Multiplayer Free Skate provides the platform.
The social component of skateboarding has always been part of our vision for Skater XL, so we’ve given Multiplayer Free Skate players the capability to capture and save video of impressive lines and momentous trick moments using the in-game replay editor. Videos are a big part of the culture and we felt it was important to give players a way to share and rewatch their favorite moments long after the session is complete. A check of the Instagram #SkaterXL will give you an idea of the amazing content that is already coming out of the creative community.
Multiplayer Free Skate is our first step in opening up social modes in the game and features:

Smooth frame rates and a lag-free experience are so important to Skater XL’s physics-based gameplay and, given the extra processing and complexity of running online multiplayer, we wanted to make sure this update would feel as good as possible for those on low end systems.
Alongside the development on the multiplayer features, work began back in January on optimizing many of the systems and assets in the rest of the game. A huge number of hours have gone into turning over every stone and reworking code, 3D assets, lighting, shaders, and more alongside the multiplayer systems themselves to squeeze out extra performance and FPS. The game now runs and feels significantly smoother on low-end gaming PCs even with many characters on screen during online play.
Also included in this latest update is a small injection of new character gear with shoes from New Balance and Es Footwear, as well as an apparel capsule from Dickies. As we continue to release regular updates, you can expect to see even more new gear hit the customizer.
