Welcome to the depths of the Backrooms! Dive into a terrifying and unsettling journey where reality fades and nightmares come to life. I am proud to present my solo-developed game, offering a total immersion into a world as mysterious as it is disturbing, soon to be available in early access on Steam.
In this immersive survival game, you will explore the labyrinthine corridors of the Backrooms, an extraordinary place where the boundaries of reality are blurred. As a passionate solo developer, I have devoted countless hours to recreating the oppressive atmosphere and sense of dread that dominate this sinister environment.
The early access of my game promises an immersive and captivating gameplay experience, with realistic graphics that plunge you directly into the heart of the Backrooms. Soon, you will be invited to uncover the hidden secrets behind its walls.
The game stands out for its diversity of gameplay modes, including a solo story mode for those who dare to face the horrors of the Backrooms alone, as well as an enriched multiplayer mode. The latter offers a cooperative story mode, allowing you to share this frightening adventure with friends, and an innovative escape mode with procedural level generation, ensuring each player a renewed experience and unique challenges in every session.
Your feedback has been an invaluable source of inspiration. As a solo developer, I have listened closely to the community to incorporate significant improvements into the game. Level Optimisation & Improvement
- Level FUN: Various optimization improvements.
- Prison: Performance optimizations along with several visual reworks.
- Level 150: Various optimization improvements.
VOIP
- The VOIP muffle effect is now disabled by default.
- You can re-enable it at any time from the lobby settings if you prefer the immersive audio effect.
Changes & Improvements
- Changed the default Anti-Aliasing setting to None.
- Added new Anti-Aliasing options: None, FXAA, and TSR. This allows players with lower-end PCs to achieve better performance.
- You can also experiment with the Anti-Aliasing settings and Resolution Scale to create a more pixelated, VHS-style visual effect if that's your thing :)
- The Anti-Aliasing options will continue to evolve, with DLSS support planned for a future update.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Stamina regeneration could become permanently locked.
- Fixed connection issues affecting some players.
- Small material fixes and improvements throughout the game.
- Fixed material issues in the Level Editor startup area.
- Fixed the Poolroom water shader in Found Footage.
- Switched back to Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) as the default anti-aliasing method to improve image quality while maintaining solid performance.
- Added a new Resolution Scale option in the graphics settings. Players can now adjust the internal rendering resolution to better match their hardware and achieve the best balance between visual quality and performance.
- Made several minor lighting adjustments and optimizations to improve overall performance across different system configurations.
- Two new multiplayer levels are coming soon! Stay tuned for more details and upcoming updates.
This setting is now available again to improve visual comfort and overall gameplay experience for some players.
Improvements
- Re-enabled the intro map.
- Added DirectX 12 shader precompilation support at startup to reduce gameplay stuttering and shader compilation hitches.
Fixes
- Fixed Lumen auto-detection on low-end PCs, ensuring the appropriate alternative lighting method is selected when Lumen is not supported.
- Fixed Lumen Software Ray Tracing support for graphics cards limited to Shader Model 5 (including devices such as Steam Deck).
- Fixed a missing body camera effect in Level Fun.
- Fixed the water electricity shader in the Found Footage Poolroom and Prison areas.

- Fixed an issue where solo door interactions could behave incorrectly in Found Footage mode.
- Fixed a player rotation issue inside Level 0.
- Fixed Player Name text rotation when a player was upside down.
- Fixed multiple shader-related issues.
- Fixed an issue where walking in water in Found Footage mode produced no sound.
Improvements
- Updated the lighting method to improve overall performance.
- Solo exploration has been fully reimplemented for single-player
- Fixed a bug where Escape Mode achievements could unlock incorrectly
- Improved crouch responsiveness on the client side in high-latency environments
It’s fairly short, but it should help expand the solo experience a bit and add more atmosphere overall.

- Fixed a softlock issue that could occur when someone pressed the button after opening the inside train in Level 150.
- Improved player skin texture resolution.

Language Support
- Language support has been updated.
Escape Modes – Map Selection
- You can now select Escape Mode maps with size settings, similar to the older version of the game.
- This brings back a more flexible and customizable map selection experience.
