Steam Patch Notes
Official update history
Hi Chefs! We hope you have been enjoying the new Flavors update. This patch includes some fixes and improvements, based on reports and feedback we have received over the past week.
Optimization
We have received a couple reports of sometimes crashing to desktop. This is likely due to memory. This can happen in certain points in the game during a memory spike, when the computer is already low on memory (eg. Several applications open at once / background tasks). We have added a lot of new assets into the game over the past few months (some of which are not visible yet), which may increase memory load.
This patch includes several optimizations that limit certain memory spikes to reduce the chance of a crash happening.
We also have larger optimizations in the works that will be implemented in a future update.
Improvements
Delivering dishes to tables and cleaning tables now provide a small amount of social EXP.
A few UIs have been slightly modified for better readability.
A new cutscene has been added to Epiphany in the Rain quest, to direct players towards the note on Uriel’s shop.
Improved Research tutorial with added visuals.
Improved descriptions for quests that utilize the research minigame.
Bug Fixes (most of these were fixed in earlier patches this week)
During Boba Madness, a cutscene error could occur when given Hasel ingredients inside her home.
During Epiphany in the Rain quest, an error could occur when holding Uriel’s parcel and triggering certain unrelated cutscenes.
Certain blueprints unlocked early after completing Into the Mines quest.
Max Research achievement not being unlocked.
Tooltips sometimes do not hide when moving items in storage.
Animation error when trying to pick up an item while running.
Fixed trapdoor sometimes not working correctly.
Fixed Décor value calculation not including “Home” category furniture during restaurant service.
Fixed home fridge ingredients getting swapped with restaurant fridge when receiving ingredient deliveries.
Fixed inability to purchase a pet before home has been upgraded.
Fixed sometimes being able to place furniture out of bounds when inside house.
Crafting and town contributions not consuming materials from storage correctly.
Fixed certain furniture items rendering behind walls when in build mode.
Visual error of player disappearing in bed in first home, before the bed has been moved or replaced.
Fixed some visual errors with certain clothing items.
News about our remaining updates and an updated roadmap is coming soon!
Hi Chefs! We hope you have been enjoying the new festivals! It’s really been exciting for us to see players trying out the new content. Big thanks to everyone posting suggestions and reports! A couple quick patches were made the previous week to fix some specific issues that players brought up. Here is one last patch to address some things we’ve noticed since the update.
Improvements
We’ve had many reports of the magnifying glass getting in the way of using tools. Since the magnifying glass is less commonly used, selected tools will now always override the magnifying glass. If your current selected item is a usable tool, you must swap to a different slot in order to use the magnifying glass. (For indoor scenes, you do not need to swap slots since tools cannot be used indoors). This way, the magnifying glass will never get in the way of using tools.
Farmers Wager tutorial during the Spring Harvest can now be started from the festival booth, as well as with speaking with Mae-Lou.
Random NPC chat bubbles will no longer pop up during cutscenes.
A dialogue will now pop up when trying to claim festival prize with a full inventory.
Bug Fixes
Fixed Amethyst Lance blueprint producing incorrect product item.
Fixed some festival furniture items having different visuals after being placed.
Fixed a UI error when trying to exchange festival rewards with a full inventory.
Fixed “Last Call” button reappearing after opening and closing main menu.
Fixed restaurant UI disappearing after using “Last Call” with a controller.
Additions
Dozens of new furniture items have been added to both the regular furniture shop, and festival exchanges. (Bathtubs, decorative vases, and floor tiles).

Our next major update will be focused on the restaurant gameplay and ingredient gathering. We will also implement quality of life suggestions related to the restaurant (like a pocket menu, and more sorting tools). More info soon!
Improvements
- Added item Stack Splitting. You can split item stacks when inside your main Inventory, Storage, Refrigerator, and Vending Machine.
- Improved inventory controls. You can now use Right Click (mouse) or West Button (controllers) to activate certain commands inside Storages and Shops like Transfer All, or Buy / Sell multiple. Previously, this would require Shift + Click (Mouse & Keyboard) or Left Trigger + South Button (Controller). This option is still available, however the key input tooltip has been updated to the simpler version.
- More optimal Virtual Cursor (controller only) speeds when doing different activities.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed tooltips sometimes displaying incorrectly when playing on monitors that do not have an aspect ratio of 16:9. This issue seemed to be more common on Macs.
- Fixed inconsistent virtual cursor (controller only) speeds when playing on different sized monitors.
- Fixed Frier minigame inconsistent movement speed on different computers.
- Fixed Grill minigame sometimes unable to pick up ingredients accurately.
- Fixed restaurant order tab visual glitch / getting stuck + smoother animations.
- Fixed Restaurant service not auto-starting during certain quests.
- Fixed floor tiles sometimes not updating visuals correctly.
- Fixed floor tiles being able to be placed over Stages & Trapdoor.
- Fixed Ingredient deliveries not triggering when sleeping inside Greenhouse or Maintenance room.
- Fixed being able to interact with invisible Consumable Panel when inside shops.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed fishing rod sometimes not registering clicks.
- Fixed Time & Key inputs UI appearing outside the game screen on certain monitors.
- Fixed not being able to sleep inside the Maintenance room & Greenhouse.
Additional Improvements
- Can now use mouse scroll wheel to cycle through consumable slots.
- Smoother camera transition when equipping / unequipping the bow. Previously, the camera jumps too quickly.
- Added AM / PM to Clock UI.
- Increased collision box of Farming plants (slightly increased range for watering and digging).
- When watering or digging farming plants, the player will now face the direction of the target plant. (Some players mentioned preferring the previous watering method of using the mouse. The change was made to be easier to navigate on controllers, but we can look into a sort of hybrid system where either mouse or keys can be used to water & dig plants).
That’s all for now! We’ve made quite a few changes for the latest Version 0.62 update. Let us know if anything jumps out at you are if you want additional improvements in other features. Some changes can be made quickly, but bigger improvements will be reserved for the next major update.
We hope you have been enjoying the new update. This patch includes fixes to some user reports :
Fixes
- There was an issue with pets and vending machine data disappearing. This appears to be caused by something unrelated - (Cotton plants & Daikon plants in the greenhouse). This has been fixed now, and an extra safety guard has been added to Pets & vending machines to prevent similar issues in the future. We will continue to keep an eye out if anything similar reappears.
- Critic quest requirements displayed incorrectly in the UI. You may have been blocked by this as it appears the requirements have been met, but the button "Open Restaurant" could not be clicked.
- Fixed fridge sometimes losing ingredients before Fridge Upgrade quest (2nd story quest) has been complete.
- Fixed customer tooltip sometimes displaying incorrect completed dishes.
- Fixed hair salon error when player is wearing overalls, or not wearing clothes.
- Removed unavailable ingredients and seeds from collection logs.
- Sometimes, unavailable seeds may be acquired (like Sorghum seed). This has been fixed, and unavailable items will automatically removed from your inventory.
- Fixed maintenance room backdoor sometimes not working, even when Trapdoor has been placed. You will need to enter the restaurant once (with trapdoor active) for the fix to be applied.
- Fixed some text errors.
Balancing
Reduced base wait time of Tired staff members from 22 seconds to 15 seconds. (Wait is further reduced by 1 second per Endurance level of the staff member).
We hope you had a great New Year. We have a lot of exciting updates planned for Chef RPG in 2025. This first patch of the year adds a few improvements and bug fixes.
Improvements
- Greatly reduced game startup time (black screen period) - this was previously caused by large audio files. On Steamdeck, startup time reduced from 25 seconds to 5 seconds.
- Game file size slightly smaller.
- New recipe unlock animation.
- (Gamepad) “Interact” key now works as an alternate key for using tools, unless standing next to interactable object. For bow hunting & spears, it is still easier to press “Right Trigger.”
- (Gamepad) Virtual mouse now slows down when approaching the edge of the screen. This makes targeting things (like bow hunting / targeting furniture) easier.
- (Gamepad) When aiming the bow, the crosshairs will no longer default to the bottom-left corner of the screen. The crosshairs will appear closer to the middle of the screen, depending on the direction your player is facing.
- (Gamepad) When drawing the bow, crosshairs move slower for better aiming.
- Grape Pie (research recipe) is now an Epic recipe with Lemon as a 4th ingredient. It was previously incorrectly set as a common recipe.
- Increased Blender minigame ingredient hitbox size.
- Improved Blender minigame speed and ingredient spawn rate.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed brewing coffee & teas resetting restaurant menu.
- Fixed takeout tooltip graphical error.
- Fixed certain beds where the player sprite sleeps above the covers.
- Fixed wrong recipe rarities displayed in Research progress panel.
- Fixed being able to press minigame buttons when tutorial is open.
- Fixed unlock recipe panel sometimes overlapping with tutorial panel.
- Fixed some missing object colliders around game world.
- Improved colliders in the game world to reduce sprite clipping.
- Fixed some text errors.
Upcoming Update
We are now at the stage of working on new content for Chef RPG. The first update will arrive sometime around the end of February, and will focus on adding side quests, as well as improving the overall gameplay loop and adding new progression systems. The Festivals and Relationships major update will come sometime after that. Here are some of the new additions to expect for the first update :
- New side quests & rewards.
- New items and furniture.
- Random events in the game world.
- First stage of a progression system for White Ash Harbor (Unlock barber, new shops etc).
- Overhauling certain minigames.
- Balancing the economy and add more features related to Power Cells.
- Changing certain skills in the Skill Tree.
- New sound effects.
Let us know your thoughts and what else you would like to see in additional content. We may not be able to implement all suggestions immediately, but valuable additions will be added to the game in a future update. We look forward to seeing you in the next update!
We hope you are enjoying your holidays! One last patch before the end of the year.

COMING UP :
We will begin working on a medium-sized Gameplay Improvement update to be released sometime in December. Some areas we look into addressing :
- Cooking & fishing minigame improvements.
- Adding the ability to serve dishes in the restaurant.
- Adding “kitchen last call” for restaurant.
- Separating restaurant fridge size from building upgrades (upgrade fridge separately, with more storage potential).
- Rebalancing certain skills in the skill tree.
BACK AGAIN SOON!
Here’s a couple changes based on some preliminary feedback, and things we noticed could be improved.
CONTROLS CHANGES
- Added UI Right-clicks back for Mouse & Keyboard users (unlocking recipes, equipping clothes & tools, transferring items). We had initially removed this due to Mac users having right-clicks disabled by default, and potential conflicts with key rebinds. We found that as long as you do not rebind “Menu” or “Multiple” to your mouse right click, it should be ok. You can still use Shift + Left click to do the same thing. On Windows, the key prompt displays Right-click. On Macs, it displays Shift + Left click, but you can still use right clicks if you have it enabled.
- Added mouse Drag / Drop back into Inventory and Storage UIs. Was removed since we had to change some internal things for controllers, but we found a workaround to make Drag / Drop work again.
BALANCING
- Certain minigames were difficult when using a gamepad joystick (Ice Cream Machine, Frier, Grill). We added movement limits to the virtual mouse so it does not move outside the minigame area. Also, the speed of the virtual mouse has been slowed down for these minigames to make aiming a lot easier.
- Ice Cream Machine minigame ingredients now have a larger hitbox when playing with a gamepad to make them easier to target.
UI ADDITIONS
- Added a (Single) status for romanceable characters. They must be at least “Acquaintance” for this status to show. It will disappear if you become in a Relationship or after failing their dates.
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41514609/3a8a1a5fc25f9288343b25de08216cfa17997e53.png
- Change to Recipe UI to fix some text overlap.
- Added a Bed icon to your minimap (some new players were having trouble finding where to sleep). This icon will disappear after completing the first flashback.
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41514609/49d2d63abb9b0d905f9d0f608a1d89b0a40e57b3.png
- Added a House icon after you purchase a home. It will disappear after entering the home for the first time.
BUG FIXES
- Fixed Frier minigame displaying the wrong input key.
- Fixed Scroll wheel for Mouse and Keyboard users scrolling beyond UI limits.
FIXES FROM PREVIOUS PATCH
Forgot to mention in the last update notes, but here’s a couple notable fixes from the previous update:
- Fixed display issue for players with extra-wide ultrawide monitors (32 : 9 ratio) where game objects on the edges of the screen were not blocked off by black bars.
- Fixed an issue of the game generating a (YOUR_LOGS) folder on desktop. This was meant for internal testing and slipped through to the release build. If you see this folder, you can just delete it.
WORKING ON NEXT :
- Some Mouse & Keyboard players requested having alternate keys for Interact & Movement. We can add this in a few days.
- We are still in the process of integrating Steam’s Controller API – for now it might not default to the correct controller setting. If your controller isn’t working, you may need to go to the Controller settings in Steam, and select Gamepad. Once we are fully integrated, it should become the default option.
That’s all for now!
Patch #11 is up with some more fixes. Thank you for the reports!
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue in the restaurant where sometimes 2 customers can sit on one chair. This could potentially cause other issues as well.
- Fixed Flour Mills not working on Macs. This was a very strange issue since mills work 100% on PCs. We will test on Macs some more to see if there are any more discrepancies compared to PC.
- Fixed an issue where the player can place multiple dishes on the same counter.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes brewing an unlocked alcohol still produces waste product.
- Fixed an issue trying to collect flour when the inventory is full – you will receive nothing, and the flour mill is emptied.
- Fixed SFX in caves not followings volume settings.
- Fixed some misaligned clothing animations during cooking.
- Added code to prevent interacting with things during the recipe unlock animation – this can cause issues.
- Improved object interactions inside restaurants - - it was sometimes hard to interact with things when standing next to a customer or staff member.
Improvements
- Changed the way the reputation is calculated. Our goal was to have reputation become harder to obtain, the higher your current reputation. The previous formula did not reflect this too well. We want each level of restaurant reputation to reflect a certain dish quality and décor value. The table below shows the target Dish Quality and Décor Values in relation to restaurant Reputation. Scoring higher than these values will raise reputation, and scoring lower will lower reputation. Wait Time reputation change is no longer affected by your current reputation.
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41514609/a4528106091cf46e51e28e4da6b123d269a4be00.jpg
Mac Mouse Right Click
- A couple users have reported Right Clicks not working on Macs. Assuming you are using the Magic Mouse, the default design and setting on Macs use only one mouse button instead of 2. To enable right clicks, go to Apple Icon -> System Preferences -> Mouse -> Enable Secondary Clicks.
Coming Up!
We will begin working on the controls update and might not post small updates for a while. Some other community suggested improvements might also be added. We are very excited to release these upgrades in a few weeks!
Patch #10 is up with a couple more bug fixes and changes.
Bug Fixes
- Added missing animations for unique character clothing (eg. Aloys fisherman outfit, Uriel’s Butcher apron). These items were actually not meant to be obtained yet, but an error in the code let these slip through and some players obtained them. They had incomplete animations, so there were animations glitches when wearing them, especially when using tools or cooking. Animations for all unique clothing items have now been added, so you can now wear these without issues.
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41514609/c973a459e747b66b3354e2d0410280afe293333b.png
- Fixed an issue where sometimes the player is unable to interact with the fridge during service.
- Fixed a visual issue with fridge indicator sometimes flashing off even when next to player.
- Fixed an issue with Fermentation tanks where it always shows question mark, even when the alcohol has been unlocked.
- Fixed an error where the restaurant can be opened after 1am.
- Fixed social UI character sprites where some characters had incorrect skin colors and missing pants.
- Fixed an issue when changing clothes with a tool equipped can undress the character for a brief moment.
Improvements
- Some players have expressed confusion towards the restock rate of pets in the pet shop. Currently, one new pet is added to the pet shop every 7 days, with a limit of 6. When the shop is at maximum capacity, no new pets are added.
This has now been changed so that one new pet is added every 3 days. If the pet shop is at capacity, one existing pet will be swapped out with a new one.
There’s a few harder to replicate bugs we are looking into. These are rarer occurrences so shouldn’t cause too many problems, but we should find a solution soon!
