About the Game
Cursed Companions is a co-op horror game that responds to every word the players say. Every player is cursed with a forbidden word, like “Okay” or “I think”. If anyone says it, the player takes damage.
When you say the right words, you can heal your friends or disarm traps.

But when you say the wrong words (i.e. "Follow me!") you could wipe out your team.
Dungeons are randomly generated, every run is a brand-new experience.
Over twenty different monsters to encounter and ‘befriend’.
The Foul Moth
"[The Foul Moth] kinda looks like a Labubu." - QuarterJade.
Watch your mouth! The Foul Moth punishes players who swear.
The Meatgrinder
Roast or get roasted! Shout “Who’s your daddy!” to send the Meatgrinder packing!
The Bride
Scare The Bride away! Bad pickup lines and awkward confessions are your best defense!
Team up and tackle a variety of co-op modes. Battle bosses in two standalone stages or dive into tougher dungeons in Challenge Mode. Push your limits in Endless Mode to see how long you can survive.
Monsters aren’t the real threat in Traitor Mode; your so-called friends are. It’s a chaotic social deduction mode where Traitors secretly sabotage the mission.
But don’t be too obvious as others can call an ‘Emergency Meeting’ to vote you out!

The game is 'always listening', the game uses voice-activation game mechanics.

Text to Speech - Robot Voice!
We’ve added Text-to-Speech! Type away your spells, works if your mic somehow fails or if the environment is too noisy or if you can't shout 'will you marry me' in the cafe.

How to use: Hit to open the chat, type your message, and a robot voice will read it aloud to everyone. It is proximity based as well. So use it to trigger spells or curse words you have problems with.
Also use this to your advantage for maximum trolling.
The Victory Statue

After clearing a Co-op Act, this Victory Statue will appear. Use it to instantly start a new game with your current group without having to jump back to the lobby. Many new players didn't know what to do when they cleared the boss in Act 1, so this statue will help lead players to the Act 2 and 3 without having to exit and enter the game again.
Graphic Settings & Ultrawide Support
We hear you and we've now added support for higher resolutions and Ultrawide mode. Expanded the graphics menu so you can tweak settings. You can also disable post-processing effects. We've not tested on all known monitor layouts and resolutions, so if you see an issue, do let us know on our Discord. Tell us if you have problems on OLED 32:9 ultrawide 4k monitors so we'll have an excuse to buy one for testing! (PS. We are kidding)
Audio Control

The mute button is way more obvious now. And we've put the icon on the player, so if you can't hear them, you'll know why.
We've also added a volume boost. If your friend sounds a little soft, you can now boost them to crank their volume up. Your custom volume levels for other players will also save automatically so you don't have to crank it up or down again whenever a new game/level starts (in the same session).
Steam Invites

Quick Invite: You can now invite friends directly through the Game Settings or the Steam overlay. So what you can do is create a new game, then instead of sending the lobby code, you can directly invite your friends to enter the game.
More Home Decor save slots

Sometimes you want to impress your friends, sometimes you just want to make a mess.
Three Save Slots: You now have three slots for your House Decor instead of just one.
Auto-Load: Your last saved layout will automatically load up whenever you host a new game.
Traitor Mode Settings viewable by everyone
You can now press Tab at any point during a match to see exactly what the game settings are. So this way you'll know what the win or lose conditions are in Traitor mode.
New Menu Music created 100% in-house and safe for streaming
We've replaced the Main Menu music with an original soundtrack we produced in-house. It's 100% unique and safe for streamers - no more worrying about YouTube or Twitch copyright strikes! Let us know in Discord what you think of the music. :)
Other QOL Changes
- Ice Wand & Boomer Bomb: These now freeze monsters completely instead of just slowing them down. Relax Bro!
- The Matron: She now has a red glow at her feet when she's alerted.
- Singing: We’ve reduced the volume threshold for the singing requirements for the Conductor and Simon to make them a bit more forgiving to pass.
- Localization: Updated several Spanish and Italian words that were previously failing to trigger.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed those instances where dungeons would overlap or misalign.
- Dead Spectate Chat: Dead players should be able to hear each other.
- Cleaned up the audio glitches for the Foul Moth and Screamsucker
- Fixed a network bug that caused some players to disconnect the moment a portal opened. May still trigger sometimes - still working on further fixes.
- Teleportation sound is no longer global (i.e the Wayhome Stone, Teleport Stone)
- Fixed an issue where House Decor wouldn't load properly when restarting in Challenge Mode.
Phew! That was a lot of changes! But we are confident it adds a new level of polish to our game. Hopefully the bugs fixes work out. And as you know, you can always reach us via our Discord, we are there always listening and chatting with you.
