Definitely Not Fried Chicken - "For All Your Legitimate Fake Business Needs!"
Definitely Not Fried Chicken is a business management sim with a Twist!Grow your drugs trade through legitimate fronts by managing both sides of the business. Acquire new "businesses", meet new clientele, develop more potent narcotics, make lots of money and leave a city in ruin!
Set in a sunshine soaked city in the glamorous 80's, DNFC will test your entrepreneurial business skills.
Build your drugs compound from the ground up, buy adjoining plots of land and expand. Design and lay out your complete production line and establish distribution routes. Fortify your compounds defences and make sure any "overly-enthusiastic" customers can't break in. Research and develop better strains of narcotics like marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine.
But simply making a great product is not enough, you need somewhere to sell it from! This is where your legitimate businesses come in - you'll need to build and manage these fronts, including selling legal goods to avoid detection, people gotta eat right? Run a chain of Fried Chicken stores or diversify your portfolio with other businesses. Different places have different people with different tastes.
The backbone of every business is your workforce, the people who tirelessly carry out the tasks you assign them for minimum wage. A happy employee is a productive employee so it's important to make sure your staff have the basic necessities like washrooms and a place to eat. A well furnished break room is great for staff morale!
And safety equipment will really help with staff turnover/mortality rates...

Official update history
The last update took us to new highs, now it's time to stick the landing, we've listened to your feedback and reports delivering you the latest fixes;
Bug Fixes:
Workers getting stuck ‘Looking for work’ after rearranging the factory / business layout.
Notifications indicating that an employee had died due to low air pressure when this was not the case.
Spawned products sometimes despawning before they are picked up by a worker.
Glass products not appearing semi-transparent when spawned.
Cloudy Meth chemical station not animating when used.
Item sale UI info remaining on the build menu after selling an item.
Item image remaining after picking up and placing an item.
Base set washing machines not making any noise when used.

Players can now disable police, the story and special client orders mid-game within the Settings menu instead of being forced to set these at the start of a new game. Special client rewards can only be unlocked through fulfilling the special client orders.
Animated orders refresh process on International Exports panel.
Re-balanced sound effects.
Added a reminder on the room groups modification panel that employees’ needs must be catered for within the room group rooms.
Swapped the prices of the Athletic and Running shoes to reflect their speed boost benefits.

Bug Fixes:
- Delivery vehicles sometimes driving past an open parking bay and instead circling the block.
- The Garage UI not updating properly after changes are made to the products delivered by that garage / vehicle.
- Products stuck on the ground will be despawned after 5 minutes.
- The time speed was not being taken into account during cleaning tasks, meaning cleaning up a product at x3 speed took the same amount of time as cleaning up a product at x1 speed.
- If a garage was deleted, the next garage would inherit the previously deleted garage’s sorting color and some other additional settings.
- Garages’ order (within the garage’s list to the left of the dispatch map) could change after saving and reloading the game. They are now ordered consistently.
- Removed a parking spot from Seal Avenue which workers were unable to collect products from.
- Pressing esc during room construction / deletion would cause the build cost / space indicators to be stuck on screen.
QOL:
- Garages are now sorted by oldest to newest. If the sorting color of a garage is changed it will go to the bottom of the list for its new sorting color.
- If a delivery destination is removed from a vehicle whilst it is parked there, it will leave to go to the next destination.
- Play an animation on a newly hired employee within the list & also when an employee’s sorting color is changed to highlight the new / modified employee.
Tutorial Bug Fixes:
- Tutorial landscaping objects were not spawning when starting a new game.
- Tutorial door placement indicators remaining in place even after placing a door in the correct position.
- Saving and reloading the game multiple times during the tutorial would cause the in-world tutorial indicators (e.g. the arrows above employees) to either not display or be positioned incorrectly.
- During the tutorial, players would be able to place the staff room door leading into the WC instead of the intended position leading into the kitchen.
- In-world green tutorial indicators would remain in place even if the applicable object’s placement was cancelled.
- When cancelling the placement of a tutorial object, the button indicating that the object needed to be placed would stop animating unless the menu was closed and reopened.
- The optional tutorial panel was closed if it was open when the player completed the optional tutorial segment.
Tutorial Polish:
- During the tutorial, snap objects into place if they are moved into the correct position and rotation.
- Remove the green tutorial placement indicators if an object is moved into the correct position and rotation.
- Removed objects’ grid occupations indicator for tutorial objects, it’s cleaner just to have the green indicator showing the outline of the object.

We've been in the lab and here's an assortment of user interface changes and bug fixes!
New Employee Management setting
- A button to re-hire dead employee's has been added. When your employees die, a button will be appear in their place, allowing you to replace their feeble entity with a new employee with the same equipment, room group, schedule and task settings. If you do not want to re-hire them, you can dismiss them.
- A button to duplicate employee settings. Once you've hired an employee with their tasks, equipment and room, there is now a button to duplicate them with all of their settings!
Save Backup system
- Your ten most recent saves for a game will now be retained.
- The load menu will show the most recent save by default
- When deleting saves, you can choose to delete an individual save, or all instances of a world and game.
Qol Changes
- Area of Effect emitters such as heaters will now be removed if a new room group is painted over them, previously only objects that belonged in the room would be removed.
- A tooltip appears when hovering over product logos on the dispatch map.
Bug Fixes
- Employees' positions within the employee list are now consistent. Newly hired employees will go to the bottom of the list. When an employee’s sorting colour is changed, they will go to the bottom of that sorting colour's list.
- Employees were sometimes not properly appearing within the list if they were at the top or bottom of the viewable area of the list.
- If a plot business types was changed, the finance panel would only display the new plot type's finance even when viewing previous days' income which would result in a mismatch.
- Time speed was not affecting characters' needs depletion, now when playing at the respective speeds, the needs will deplete correctly.
- Made load game UI larger to accommodate for certain localisations that were previously cut off.

Bug Fixes:
- Fix to products sometimes being invisible.
- Fix to vehicles sometimes taking very long detours when ‘circling the block’ if there was no parking available when they reached their delivery destination.
- Fix to delivery destinations (cash and special clients) being assigned to vehicles that are sometimes not being saved so the destinations would need to be reassigned after reloading the game.
- Fix to various issues when waiters were interacting with customers at the Lobster Restaurant tables.
- Fix to products clipping through the shelves within the trucks.
- Fix to ‘Expand character configuration panel’ tutorial indicator sometimes being displayed at the incorrect time.
- Certain buttons sometimes not being intractable after completing the tutorial until the game was reloaded.
QOL:
- Drop down selectors have been implemented for assigning Schedules and Room Groups to characters, which should be a big QoL improvement when many schedules and room groups have been created.
- Delivery vehicles will now automatically leave a business if there is no storage space available to unload its product to. This behavior is enabled by default but it can be disabled using a tick box in the vehicle configuration panel on the map screen.
- Drugs that cannot be sold at a business type (e.g. cannabis at the Lobster Restaurant), will no longer be unloaded by employees.
- Cash registers now cannot be put the ‘wrong way round’ on counters, which used to cause problems when characters tried to interact with them.
- Added a confirmation step when changing the business type of a plot so people hopefully will not accidentally wipe their plot design.
- The camera is now moved back to its previous position after it was moved for a story or client animation (e.g. the astronaut rocket launch). It is moved back after opening the plots menu (using the top left button of the toolbar).
- Vehicles en route to an order which is completed will be re-routed to their next delivery destination.
Other Changes:
- Updated ‘attackers defeated’ notification to ‘attackers have left’ text to reflect the fact that sometimes they aren’t defeated.
- The ‘products contained’ tool tip now fits the contents with no excessive padding.
- The curbs in the park where you build the factory have been tidied up.

Here's what we've fixed!
- The outline not showing when hovering over characters and appliances.
- Dead characters remaining in their standing animation after they die.
- Dead characters re-playing their death animation upon reloading the game.
- Shading issues on the floors and walls of the factory and businesses at night.
- The soundtrack not playing upon loading a large save
- Localisation fixes to various languages where the text overflows out of the text box.
- Selecting decorative items would display a $0 daily cost in the appliance panel.
- Minor graphical fixes to the Devil and Police Chief sprites.
- Various misc grammar fixes.
But we've also got some quality of life changes sprinkled in!
- Customers now leave faster if there are no business facilities that they care about present at a business (e.g. they want a roulette table but your casino doesn’t have one). This is technically a buff to businesses as it means more customers will be generated to visit your business, with there being a higher turnover.
- New building / demolishing mouse indicators have now been added to landscape painting as well as regular building construction.
- Characters and appliances can now be selected and configured without having the main ‘Plots’ panel open to the left of the screen.

Here's what we've fixed!
- The room cost indicator getting stuck until reload, next to the cursor when trying to build an unaffordable room.
- Characters bladder status continuing to fall while paused and drinking coffee
- The room type indicator displaying the wrong room in some circumstances
- Custom garage names not updating on the in-world UI after changing
- Sfx not playing sometimes in the nightclub speakers and the Craps and Roulette tables
- Garages retaining the old garages name when deleted and replaced
- The Billboards and Hotline monument buttons would sometimes not be interactable
- AOE text entry field would fire other keybindings when a number was being entered.
- Being unable un mute the game if was muted then exited, then reopened and un,ited again
- When changing plots, if a character's configuration panel was open, it will now close automatically.
- Minor Cleaner UI changes
- Some instances where the cursor would flicker
But we've also got some quality of life changes sprinkled in!
- Garages now display how many destination you've assigned them
- A small icon is now displayed next to the cursor when in build / demolish and object placement modes to help with current mode identification.
- Garages’ in-world UI now display their name and products accepted by the vehicle even while out for delivery
- The animation for replaying back UI text no longer plays, but filters in immediately
- Worker task logos now have an accompanying tooltip letting you know what the task is if hovered over
- An animation plays on the bank balance if you're broke and can't afford what you're tying to buy.
- If the end-game scenario has been triggered, the message from the clients with instructions will be re-displayed upon loading the game
We've also added some features;
- Options to play without the police, story and special clients, or combinations of.
- Removed character item points, so you can kit people out as you need.
- Optimisation which should lower ram spikes.

Here's what we've fixed!
- Workers placing incorrect items within the production line appliances (Such as placing a candy bar on a cannabis dryer).
- Putting commas are full stops in schedule/ garage names would cause the selected plot to change (This is because , and . are the keybindings to change plots)
- Tool tips getting stuck on the screen until the mouse was hovered over another tool tip trigger.
- Characters not animating when changing the view plot or hiring a new employee.
- The new room indicator getting stuck on screen when trying to build an un-affordable room.
- Playing incorrect sound effects when obtaining an object to place.
- If a garage was deleted, a new placed garage would retain the previous garage's name, instead of the default.
- Garages with custom names were not displayed when reloading the game, until another garage's name was modified
- Custom garage names not updating on in-world vehicle UI if the name was changed while the vehicle was out of view of the camera
- Ambient sound effects not playing around the city
- Lobster shop fryer baskets being misaligned
- Controls being available during the opening cutscene
- Text box getting momentarily stuck during the initial save when starting a new game
- Mouse displaying on screen during game loading
- Boxing stations being placable at business store rooms, despite not having any function at businesses.
- Loud SFX being played when an attacking group spawns.
- Lampost overlapping with scrapyard vehicle entrance.
- Various grammatical errors
- Being unable to un-mute the game in the settings if the game was muted then saved then reloaded.
But we've also got some quality of life changes sprinkled in!
- Dialogue text can now be skipped by clicking on the dialogue buttons or within the text box.
- Dialogue texts moves at a consistent pace.
- If a worker has no tasks assigned, rather than "Looking for Work" the status for the worker will say "No tasks assigned to me".
- Localisation options are more visible on the main menu
- AOE level overlays now display a tooltip reminding players that the output can be adjusted if you click on it
- Default sound levels hahve been adjusted slightly to queiten in-world sfx in relation to other audio types.
- Custom cursor now used on main menu
- Cash register sound effect is now only played when the player spends money.

Following your feedback, we've addressed some bugs and rolled out some QoL fixes with optimization improvements! Check them out below:
Changes:
- Garage Names are now displayed on the in-world UI whilst they are parked and being loaded and unloaded.
- Garage names are now displayed within the products accepted configuration panel shown when the garage is selected
- Vehicles now use the new slimmed UI which displays contained products with a tool tip
- Have added additional looping loading screen images.
Optimizations:
- Further optimizations to overall performance
- Removed a frame drop that occurred when opening the employee list that contained a large number of employees.
Bug Fixes:
- Gun traps sometimes not triggering when being walked in-front of.
- Traps not triggering after selling a broken trap and then placing a trap of the same type fown
- The cooking pot going invisible during the lobster and crab cooking animations
