About the Game
A stock-themed roguelike deckbuilder where the market you create can just as easily crush you.
Insider Trading is a deckbuilder about manipulating the stock market. Each run you play as a trader with a unique strategy and a deck of market-moving cards. Play your hand to move prices, controlling how the market reacts. Greed acts like rocket fuel, accelerating gains and risk. Only you can decide when to cash out and secure your profits.
Your Cards Break the Market
This is not a trading simulator. It is a deckbuilder built with your choices. Between market days, you enter the Aftermarket to draft cards from different pools, often taking upside alongside risk. Some cards strengthen your deck. Others weaken it. When the market opens, the deck you built is the only thing shaping price movement.
Strange Characters
Each character is a maverick trader with a unique approach to the market. Get to know their quirks as you play. Their starting decks and special mechanics open up new possibilities, encouraging strategies you might not try otherwise.
Precision Over Power
Command the market in each run, creating opportunities and risks as you build towards your weekly financial target. Push too hard and the cost of entry skyrockets. Play it too safe and the market slips away.
Key Features:
120+ cards to pump, crash, and exploit prices
60+ stackable pills and perks for wild synergies
Unlockable characters with unique decks and mechanics
Combo system rewards smart positioning
Disruptive events like recessions that can derail a run
Multiple difficulty levels for hardcore challenge
Is This Trading?
Nope. Insider Trading is a razor-sharp roguelike deckbuilder dressed up like Wall Street. Outplay the market, amass a fortune, and make Warren Buffett cry. The best part? You won't lose your life savings playing it.

Official update history
Hey, it's been a couple days since 1.1 update, and I've been fixing bugs that came along with the new update, as well as older bugs that existed before the update.
This is a post to share what exactly has been fixed or changed.
Bug Fix: Fixed price setting itself to '$0' and later leading up to broken prices (nan) when dropping the price by a massive amount from a high amount.
Bug Fix: Fixed the game sometimes dealing you less cards than your slot count, and later leading to crash.
Bug Fix: Fixed 'Virus' not deleting itself after trigger.
Bug Fix: Fixed the new 'Choices Matter' event permanently increasing the reroll cost of cards.
Bug Fix: Fixed perk's warning popup blocking the purchase completely.
Bug Fix: Fixed Sleeping Pill setting price to $1 when used under $1.
Bug Fix: Skip warning popup does not show up when balance > target amount.
Bug Fix: Fixed The Hand's overachievement bonus showing a negative amount when failing to meet the target.
Bug Fix: Fixed graphic bug that rarely happened when exiting the game while loading shop.
Bug Fix/Small Change: Junky now automatically sells pills when it is selected. Fixed a bug where Junky didn't remove pre-existing pills.
Bug FIx: Fixed the typo in Corporatism's description.
Bug Fix: Fixed unlocked decks showing a lock icon when just unlocked.
Temporary FIx: Exiting to main menu while the digestive pill was working led to a crash. Temporarily made it so that the home button is deactivated while digestive pill is working.
And that's it for now.
Thank you :)
ADDED NOTE ON FEB 21ST:
Hey guys, it's now been a little more than three days into the launch, and I'd like to first thank you for all the attention you've given to Insider Trading. The game just hit more than 200 reviews, and I am deeply grateful to be hearing how everyone is reacting to the game. Whether it was a positive review or a negative one, I appreciate all of you for taking your time to contemplate and express your thoughts.
While there seems to be a wide array of subjects that are being discussed at the moment, it seems that the biggest topics are on the general difficulty, balancing, and certain unpleasant mechanics.
Naturally, some of you love the challenges the game offers at the moment, while some of you wish things to tone down a little bit.
Once most bugs are out of the way, I'll head straight into tackling these by pulling the necessary levers, while at the same time being very careful to not damage my core vision of the game.
Things may start off in a mild way as I wish to avoid kneejerk decisions that could disrupt game's direction, or confuse the your receptions.
Trade decisions based on quick emotions never pay off well, and I feel I could say the same for development decisions.
But with that said, I will do my absolute best to keep things moving in a positive direction.
Insider Trading is definitely not a game for everyone, it will never be a game for everyone, but I do dream of making it enjoyable to as many of you possible.
I'm sure there are a few actions that could be taken, that will make the experience better regardless of which kind of user you are.
Thanks :)
Hey guys, Thank you being with Insider Trading on the release day, and special thanks to those of you who took the time to report bugs.
With couple hours into the release, I managed to track down a few notable issues, so I felt it'd be nice to make to a post to keep track of things.
As I expect there would be couple more bugs to be found over the next few days, I'll be editing this post as I make more fixes to the build throughout the next couple days.
Feb 18th Patch
Bug Fix: Counterfeit Bill displaying '2' at the bottom left corner with out any purpose removed
Bug Fix: Fixed the game from crashing when Control Freak interacts with Lockdown
Bug Fix: Fixed Negate setting skip reward tokens to -94 when it removed Black Friday
Bug Fix: Improved accuracy when changing affecting price around the minimum threshold ($0.0000001)
Other: Added a few more names of playtesters
Feb 19th Patch
Bug Fix: Fixed truncated Japanese Translations
Bug Fix: Fixed date display being to tight in Japanese UI
Bug Fix: Added few missing translations such as Bird in Hand's description
Bug Fix: Fixed typo 'permenently' to display correctly as 'permanently' in card descriptions etc.
Bug Fix: Fixed poison pill or one trick pony duplicating 'Pay to Work' even though it should not duplicate cursed perks.
Bug Fix: Fixed 'NaN' price occuring when dropping price heavily from inf price, then lifting it by a flat dollar amount. (NaN price bricked the save and also broke the main menu, unlike INF.)
Bug Fix: Fixed target score being set to a wrong number when continuing to Infinity mode.
Bug Fix: Fixed visuals being broken when exiting and re-entering the game at the wrong moment.
Bug Fix: Fixed the game not continuing after day 80.
Bug Fix: Fixed debug interactions happening on Linux
Feb 20th Patch
Bug Fix: Added OpenGL launch option for Intel-based Mac Users. This will fix the broken text issue.
Temporary Fix: Added an automatic meta-progression save backup feature. I am yet to find the exact culprit behind why in certain rare cases the save data resets and bricks the game, but this temporary fix will at the least prevent the entire data from getting deleted, or bricked.
Let's hope that helps the situation and doesn't break things further.
I'll be on further lookout to see why this may be happening.Bug Fix: Fixed Black Friday permanently reducing the skip reward token by 5, even after the event gets removed.
Bug Fix: Fixed 'Surfer' displaying wrong price condition in it's description.
Bug Fix: Fixed token cost UI displaying the wrong number, when switching between the 'Upgrade' button.
Bug Fix: Fixed 'Monopoly' achievement displaying a wrong condition.
Bug Fix: Fixed typo 'permenently' to 'permanently' in even more areas. I'll go get elementary education once more.
Bug Fix: Fixed Fanatic stack resetting in various save/load situations.
Bug Fix: Fixed save file being corrupted, when loading with less cards than the slot count.
Minor Change: Changed Catalyst's card image.
Feb 21st Patch
Temporary Fix: FPS has been capped on 120, as I've been reported the previous uncapped FPS was burning up newer GPUs. Will add an option to customize the exact number soon.
Minor Change: Screen Flashes will entirely be removed instead of being reduced, when disabling the screen flash option.
Minor Change: In-game tooltip when playing as The Hand will be available, to explain how short selling works in the same way it's explained when Recession event is active.
Bug Fix: Fixed a bug where interest reset when exiting the game and loading it back up again on Black Swan
Bug Fix: Fixed -I.NFe2 popping up and bricking saves when triggering bunch of 2x Leverages to hit inf amount of shares.
Bug Fix: Fixed pill price text going out of bound when it cost 10+ tokens.
Bug Fix: Rare cases where using the pill Digestive caused crashes has been fixed.
Bug Fix: Fixed 'Annihilate' perk setting buff amount to negative when removing Overdose or Recycler has been fixed.
You may have to restart Steam or wait a couple minutes to see the updates live on Steam.
Known Issues
Known issues are on the bugs that I am yet to figure out the trigger, or to figure out an easy solution on.
If you are experiencing similar, or have possible suggestions on ways to solve this issue, please do let me know.
Adjusting window size in MacOS leads to crashes.
Certain Mac users reported the entire text to be broken.Fixed on Feb 20th. Seemed to happen for Intel-based Mac users. Launching with the new OpenGL option should fix this.Meta Progression and meta-progression save file being bricked on random rare instances.Temporarily patched on Feb 20th, by adding an automatic backup feature. Should not brick or reset the entire file, though I am still on the lookout for the exact cause, as this is not an ideal fix.Sound crackling on certain audio devices (certain Bluetooth headphones?
That's it for now.
Although I am looking through all Steam discussions and announcement comments and what not, I'd be able to respond the fastest when you report the bugs through our official Discord channel.
Again, thank you all for being around.
Excited to see where things could go from here on!
EDIT (6/28): Despite claiming the next update 'will come towards the end of June', it will be postponed slightly. I apologize for the delay.
I want to start off by saying THANK YOU to all of you for playing Insider Trading and sharing your thoughts on the game so far.
With Next Fest finished earlier this week, Insider Trading stands at 14,000 wishlists. I consider this to be a great achievement that would not have been possible without your support.
With that being said, this minor patch features yet another QoL, UI/UX changes, and bug fixes.
Content updates will come towards the end of June - this will mainly feature an overhaul of the events, and the 'Short Selling' system.
Content additions on cards, perks, and characters are expected during July and August.
The changes on 0.1.3 are as follows:
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45225045/495bf20843346a3dbdcfe68fdf1a1b6c375dbfe5.gif"]
QoL:
Togglable 'Day Separators' have been added, marking when a day started or ended right on the chart.
Zoom in / Out feature has been added to see the bigger scope of your progression.
4x game speed has been added (previous max was 2x).
The amount of shares bought is now previewed when hovering the cursor above 'trade' button.
Readability for card modification costs has been improved.
A tooltip has been added to explain the Combo system - more tooltips will come in the future for new user support.
Deck display modes(DISCARD, FULL DECK, REMAINING) are now immediately swapped through clicking arrows, rather than having to close out and reopen the display.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45225045/0693f755757fa58877ebc5e8e96b0afb0d0a6cd3.png"]
Localization:
Chart colors can now be customized inside the language tab. This feature has been requested by international users who had a different color scheme for candle charts. Please note for the time being that this only affects the chart and no other UI elements.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45225045/b78efb132301399c5e75ba1eb283875cb79dcf6b.png"]
Balance Changes:
While I am reluctant to touch on balancing before content additions are to come, a few had to be changed due to them causing undesirable results.
Perk, FEEDER, has been capped to add +5 maximum retriggers on a single card. Previously uncapped, Feeder often caused infinite loops when multiple copies were held at the same time.
Rapidfire has been changed into a RARE perk. (Previously common). Multiple copies of this perk, together with 'New Normal', have been causing overflows a bit too often.
Bug Fixes:
Most bug fixes have been made with immediacy, without a separate announcement throughout the past week. The following is a list of what has been changed.
Freeze during the tutorial, which occurs for certain users, has been fixed.
Display bugs for FOMO, Flock, and Birdman have been fixed
Bug with Flock, and Upturn event has been fixed
Volume slider now adjusts the volumes linearly, as intended (previously exponential)
Fixed 'screenshake' setting failing to affect screen shake effects in certain animations.
Fixed 'Reset' not triggering in certain situations
Fixed game off-positioning itself in setups with multiple monitors
Again, thank you all for playing Insider Trading.

Hey, with SNF starting just yesterday, another update has been put up.
Alongside bug fixes and minor balance adjustments, beta translations have been made for CJK languages.
The changes are as follows:
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45225045/d1431fe410aef645d8506a606294e5d757911629.png"]
Beta Localization for 4 languages
Translation added for Korean, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Japanese
This can be accessed from the title screen.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45225045/c1287d0f3777fab9e945a19865fa95958f3682c5.gif"]
Bug Fixes
Fixed an inconsistent crash that occurred when returning to the main menu or replaying.
Fixed the infinite trigger bug on the Swan card. It was funny, but it had to go.
Fixed combos not triggering properly when multitype cards were consisted.
Fixed Price panel being displayed on top of other visuals (as in victory screen)
Fixed play time not being displayed properly
Other Changes
One Shot event has been disabled in the current build, and is replaced with a new event: Upturn.
While I am against making frequent balance changes in this early demo stage, one shot proved to add little change to the game, also being unclear on its effects. A new event has been added to fill up the pool.
Tooltips are now show even when the mouse is one 'move' or 'discard' mode.
The tutorial has been slightly adjusted to warn players against lifting the price to an overly high level.
With events and price locks remaining to be a debatable mechanic, gameplay stats and user feedbacks will continue to be observed during this Steam Next Fest.
As always, thanks for playing, and I'll be glad to hear your experiences on the official Discord page or the Steam discussion board.

Hello,
It's been three days since the demo has been released.
I thank you all for playing the demo, and providing wonderful feedback on the game's direction.
Speaking of Feedback...
Many users have been negatively reacting to several events, especially the Manipulator, which changes your tokens by +/-10 depending on the stock price. Although I have temporarily nerfed this specific event in this patch, I will quickly seek ways to completely overhaul this and other events.
Another issue that was commonly brought up was the inability to buy stocks when the price exceeded $1,000. Many players thought this was a bug, or an unpleasant mechanic. Similar to events, I have added a temporary UI to warn players when the price exceeds $1,000, but in the long term, I will seek ways to change this mechanic.
Major updates regarding these problems are soon to come, but for now, this update focuses on quick bug fixes, and QoL patches.
The changes are as follows:
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45225045/91c3003a5ed09a82500d82b38fc2f148b6e7b88e.gif"]
QoL
Added a small UI displaying each card's effects as they trigger (can be switched on and off in settings)
Added more QoL settings, including an option to enlarge tooltips and tooltip texts
Added tooltips for each option in the settings
Broke down graphic settings into more detailed criteria
Capped minimum price to $0.0000001
Added a warning tooltip when the price exceeds $1,000 or reaches the capped minimum
Balancing
Nerfed Monkey Business to buff other monkeys by +1.5x, effect stacking linearly with each trigger (previously exponentially). This will keep the card's power at about the same level in lower trigger counts, and weaken it in higher trigger counts.
Nerfed Manipulator event to modify tokens by +/-7 (previously +/-10).
Bug Fixes
Fixed sound adjustment not functioning properly
Fixed Steam initialization, causing crashes for certain users
Recentered 'Game Over' screen
Reduced the frequency of background animations in the start screen
Fixed the crash happening during the tutorial
Fixed certain cards modifying stock price by more than -99%, causing an overflow in the balance
I will constantly be fixing bugs or balancing issues as they come up; but I expect the next patch log to consist of larger changes, mainly touching on the core mechanics.
If you have any suggestions to give, or bugs to report, please do so through our Discord channel.
Again, thanks to all of you for playing Insider Trading.
Please drop a Steam review to share your experience.
