About the Game
Explore the birthplace of drift and dive into Japan’s iconic car culture!
JDM: Japanese Drift Master is an homage to Japan, Japanese street racing culture and drift. It’s an open world, story-driven experience, blending Tōge (mountainous) serpentines, with narrow rural roads and vast highways leading to a modern cityscape. With licensed cars and robust tuning options it’s a drifting paradise come true!

Driving Models
Designed primarily for gamepads, JDM boasts two driving models to choose from: Arcade, suited for a more relaxed experience and drift beginners; and Simcade in which all assists are off, trading full control over the car for more skill requirements to manage drifting. Players can switch between both models at any time during the game.
Open World
Soak in the atmosphere of Japan with the fictional prefecture of Guntama, created through mixing real-life locations from all over the country. With over 250 km of visually stunning main roads, standalone racing tracks and instanced events, set across winding mountain passes, rural areas and the city's bustling streets, you’ll explore diverse landscapes featuring traffic, dynamic weather, and day-night cycle systems.
Licensed Cars
Sit behind the wheel of legendary Nissan, Honda, Subaru and Mazda cars. Tune them mechanically with new parts and then fine tune the details. Experiment with visual parts: from hoods, through lights to full body kit swaps. Adjust the suspension, wheel camber, gear ratios and more. Finally, paint the car however you like using a free pick color palette. You want underglow? It’s at your disposal as well.
Story-driven Campaign
Step into the shoes of a foreigner determined to make his mark on the Japanese drifting scene. Compete in 40+ narrative-driven events and additional sidequests against the top drifters in the area. Experience this journey through hand-drawn manga pages, which add a unique and artistic touch to the game.
The Audio Purr
Experience authentic car sounds, captured through original recordings and brought to life with attention to detail, making you feel like you're truly behind the wheel. Cruise along picturesque roads while tuning in to genre-themed radio stations, including unique soundscapes of J-music, Phonk and even Eurobeat - choose the perfect soundtrack for your drive!

Ossu!
Before we go into patch details, we would like to once again thank the community members, who took the time out of their day, launched our test branch and provided feedback to our work in progress features. Your opinions helped immensely in shaping today’s update and we are very thankful for your support.
Based on the tests, the livery system addition to the Paint Shop has been postponed for now as we continue to fix the current issues with it, whilst expanding this feature with your suggestions in mind. Our goal right now is to bring it to you as soon as we can.
The second feature we were testing proved to be working flawlessly, so we’re extremely happy to announce that with today’s patch restarting an event will literally take only a couple of seconds to load up. That’s right, no longer will you have to wait for twenty seconds or longer to repeat a mission.
The second headliner today is the addition of the next Villain Side Story Campaign. Let’s look at details:
Patch Notes
Shortened loading times - event soft restarts
The loading times for repeating a mission (whether you lost it or just hit that restart button in the pause menu) have been drastically reduced. Re-loading an event should take no longer than just a couple of seconds now.
Note that loading the event for the first time will still need to load up all of the assets and it has not been influenced by this change.
New Villain Side Story Campaign - Honey Badger
Lt. Boswell’s origins story is now available. You will play through six new missions, consisting of time attack challenges and a drag tournament, to win the Honey Badger’s unique and heavily tuned muscle car.
Boswell’s ride is a true drag racing beast that will be able to fight with any car on a straight road, while also being a decent grip racer overall.
As always, you will be able to start the campaign by finding the Honey Badger marker in the open world and interacting with it. Completing the first mission will unlock the second and so forth.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue in Challenge Mode on the Bamboo Track grip race, where players could be instantly disqualified.
Fixed an issue in Delivery Missions, where the package could have been destroyed before the race even started.
Fixed an issue where the notification for unlocking Tiger’s Side Story sometimes displayed an incorrect text line.
Locked the ability to tune the Insteroid (mechanical and visual).
Fixed the incorrect placement of NPC driven Silvia’s S 15 nameplate during Chapter 05, Mission 03.
Fixed the camera angles in the Paint Shop for Nissan Laurel.
Additional small bug fixes across the entire game.
Later today our first ever DLC - Made in USA - will debut on Steam. Six unlicensed muscle cars and unique parts for them will be available for only 5,99 USD. If you want to support our work or just tackle challenges across Guntama in new beefy rides, that’s an expansion for you!

Ossu!
It’s finally time to unpack the entirety of the surprise we have promised you. When the game updates for you today you will receive access to a whole new four-mission long Side Story, featuring Hyundai Motor’s Concept Car - the INSTEROID.
The first mission unlocks after completing Mission 06 from Chapter 01 in the Main Story Campaign. The last challenge of this side story will become available after the ending of Chapter 04. Touge downhills, a time attack and a drag race against other Hyundai cars - the INSTER and the IONIQ 5 - are the events to beat while driving the Electric INSTEROID. Beating the challenges will of course reward you with the Concept Car for your garage.
As always, to access the Side Mission content you will need to drive to the event’s Point of Interest on the map and interact with it.
The INSTEROID
We’ve already said a few words about the new car but let us unpack this fearless drifter further.
INSTEROID is an electric Concept Car from Hyundai Motor, which truly blends the two cultures of modern gaming and motorsports - pixel aesthetics, animated plates (both inside and outside of the car), stylized clocks and enough power to shame the fastest of cars.
[p align="justify"]Being an electric, its acceleration is uncanny and for its small size it packs a really powerful punch - six gear shifts can propel it to 300 kph! There’s nothing quite like it in JDM and we’re having a blast driving it back at the office! We can’t wait for you to take it for a spin as well![img src="https://clan.fastly.steamstatic.com/images//44021335/2fd89da50a5328f66505cba7eebfec0fd4f18b7b.png"]

Ossu!
[p align="justify"]Oh boy, this is definitely the biggest update we have introduced to the game so far. A lot of smaller and bigger changes, a multitude of community requests coming to life and new features that we promised in our roadmap. And bug fixes, a lot of bug fixes.[p align="justify"]Hopefully everyone will find something that they were waiting for here. Let’s Drift!Patch Notes
New Content
Nissan GTR R35 EBA
[p align="justify"]Introducing the R35 EBA, a car considered by many as the ‘final form’ of the GTR series. It comes with six bodykits available to be unlocked and costs 4,900,000Y to buy at the dealer. The stock version expands the roster of our grip cars.New Racing Tracks
[p align="justify"]Hakome Stadium - a sports arena made into an ultimate race challenge; Takekaze Tōge - a racing track located at the foot of the volcano, hidden within a bamboo forest. You will find both by looking for a trophy cup marker on the map - for the former it’s Ichikara East, for the latter - northern-west side of the volcano. Available from the open world or the Challenge Mode in the Main Menu.Side Story Campaign - Tiger
[p align="justify"]Following the path set by the “Rise of the Scorpion” update, which expands the plotline through opponents’ backstories, a new side story campaign is introduced to the game. The Tiger’s campaign follows the tale of Naoto Date - one of the players’ major opponents in JDM, from his childhood dream, through tragedy to a second chance at life. The campaign consists of 9 events, summing to 11 completely new races. After completing Chapter 02, Mission 01 the first part of his campaign will be marked on the map. Completing the whole campaign will reward you with Tiger’s boss car (known from the main campaign).Wheel and Rims modification
[p align="justify"]An expanded feature for the already existing Car Setup in the game, allowing for the modification of wheels and rims. This feature will allow players to further visually tune their cars to their hearts’ content. There are up to 7 new settings, depending on the wheel selection, available to modify. The options include rim diameter and width adjustments, as well as offset options. You will be able to change the tire profile between low, medium and high, change the tires’ width and modify spacers. Finally, you will be able to alter the rim lip type. The changes are cosmetic only, so feel free to experiment!Optimization and graphical settings
XeSS 2.0 support
[p align="justify"]JDM is now running XeSS 2.1.1.1, including Frame Generation and Low Latency technology. Its implementation vastly improves performance on Intel and AMD cards and has been set as default for the owners of said GPUs.Multi Frame Generation for DLSS
[p align="justify"]The game now supports Multi Frame Generation times 2 and times 3 for Nvidia RTX 5xxx owners. This feature can be turned off (default) and on from the game’s graphics options menu.Decreased Loading Times
[p align="justify"]We are still exploring ways to further decrease the loading times across the entire game but today we have a first batch of changes. Through various optimization processes done across the entire game the loading times should be a little shorter. We have completely removed loading screens when accessing Shops available from the Main Menu of the game - Change Car, Tuning Shop, Car Setup.[p align="justify"]With the amount of changes made to the graphics engine the game may want to redo the Automatic Graphics Settings Configuration on launch.Handheld Devices Support
[p align="justify"]We improved the general performance on handheld devices; we improved the UI positioning; we added dedicated graphical presets and balanced the visual optimization. Handheld users, please let us know how the changes improved your performance.Other
- [p align="justify"]Mesh optimization for improved performance.
- [p align="justify"]Level streaming improvements.
- [p align="justify"]Reduced the memory usage in the most demanding areas of the open world.

Underground Races
You will now see the weather conditions for the race ahead of you. It’s communicated through the pop-up screen when driving into the side mission’s marker in the open world.
We’ve balanced the races in rainy conditions.
Sushi Delivery
We have removed the Delivery Laurel from side missions (you will still use it in campaign missions), you will now deliver the packages in the car you were driving when interacting with the side mission marker in the open world.
Landmarks
We have fixed the issues with the infamous Kaguchi Valley and Inadani Village landmarks. They should now properly register when taking a photo in their respective spots.
Physics
Balanced the Arcade physics model.
Improved FWD (Front Wheel Drive) car physics.
Improved AWD (All Wheel Drive) car physics.
Improved collision and force compensation physics.
- [p align="justify"]Resolved physics issues causing undesirable outcomes and unbalanced forces acting on the cars.
Other Changes
\ Added a new sound effect when the car lands on the ground after a jump.
\[level design] Added a new, short road towards the volcano, which leads to the Takekaze Tōge race track.
\ Fixed two items in the smartphone.
\ Car telemetry now displays proper values.
Bug Fixes
\ fixed A LOT of bugs connected with car models and car parts. Mentioning every single change here would bore you to death, so please, after the update if you see an issue connected to a car or one of its modifications that has not been fixed, give us a holler.
We’ll make one single exception here, as it was a very commonly requested fix: issues connected with the Yotsuhoshi Revolution have been solved.\ Fixed an issue where, in some instances, resetting the car back on the road would blast the car away.
\ Fixed issues, which were causing the game to crash. Minimised the probability of such issues to reappear.
\ Fixed an issue where the smartphone would react to the default input press, even if the key was rebound.
\ The navigation will no longer readjust its path to the Tuner Shop after the “New parts are available” prompt on the screen.
\ The UI will no longer disappear, if the player opens the map right before a race starts.
\ Some on-screen text and notifications have been fixed or adjusted to better reflect the situation in the game.
This wraps-up the patch notes for September.
We hope these changes will drastically improve your experience while playing JDM.
As always, if you encounter any new bugs and issues, please report them to us through our customer service tickets, which can be accessed HERE.
[p align="justify"]We’re continuing to work on promised features. The next big thing ahead is the Car Livery system.
