About the Game

Welcome... to Amber Isle! A shop management/social sim set in a quaint, friendly world of prehistoric animal islanders called Paleofolk!
You’re tasked with running Amber Isle’s only shop. Gather, craft and sell items to meet the needs of your diverse Paleofolk customers. Does your brachiosaur buddy need a canvas as long as his neck? Maybe your microraptor amigo needs a mini-sized chair? Perhaps even some water-proof paper for a plesiosaur in peril? Different customers also have different needs, behaviours and preferences to learn. Haggle, pawn, and counter-offer your way to the top of the Shop Rankings! It’s up to you to run a successful shop to bring Amber Isle back from the brink of fossilisation!

Name, customise and run your shop your way! Use your profits to unlock new shop decor, walls, floors and more. As your shop gains popularity, plan your layout wisely, expand your floorspace and make your shop more efficient.
Rebuild the island!
You can also use your shop profits to help rebuild the island and unlock new areas. Decorate with paths, foliage, and amenities to make Amber Isle an attractive destination. Only then will our Paleofolk pals consider packing up and moving in permanently!

Paleofolk come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and species- it’s not just dinosaurs! There’s Ice Age mammals, Permian amphibians, marine life, invertebrates, and more! Amber Isle has 48 different Paleofolk to befriend, all with unique personalities, preferences, dialogue, and quests.
Get closer to Paleofolk by hanging out with them and fulfilling their requests. As your friendship grows, Paleofolk will share new upgrades and recipes with you. With your help, they can even build their own stalls, cafes, gardens, and communal areas on Amber Isle!

The Story So Far…
Amber Isle is down to its last remaining residents; the grumpy iguanodon Mayor Clawsworth, the peppy pteranodon courier Maple, and the mega-keen megalosaurus intern Adi. In a last-ditch attempt to revitalise Amber Isle, Mayor Clawsworth reluctantly agrees to let you open a shop. During your adventure, you’ll learn more about your new friends, the history of the island and how exactly it fell into disrepair…

This patch features our biggest cosmetic content addition yet- over 100 new additions in total across the 5 playable Paleofolk species types!
These include new dino body parts, new patterns, new accessories, and colour layering options, allowing for much more intricate character customization and endless combination possibilities!
This patch also includes one of our largest bugfixing and QOL updates yet; including improvements to autosaving, balancing, quests, navigation, and increased performance across the game.

Patch 1.10 Changelog
✏️ Character Creator Improvements
New subsections for body parts have been added to allow even more customisation and layering of pieces.
(Dev note: These changes may revert some body parts and colour choices of your saved Paleofolk. This was an unavoidable side effect of splitting body parts into more subsections, which was necessary to allow for more control, and the space for new options. If this happens to your character - don't panic! You can go into the customisation menu and just reapply your choices.)
Colour / pattern selection has been rehauled and separated into its own distinct section.
(Dev Note: Previously, colours could be picked immediately when applying new body parts, but then the main body colours and pattern overlays would happen seperately, later in the menu in a different section. We thought this was inconsistent and fiddly, and can lead to confusion or frustration by having to navigate in and out of different tabs. So now, all body part picking happens first, then you apply colours in the next section!)
The pattern tab icons have been redesigned; They now more clearly reflect the area you are colour-picking for.
Fixed an issue where certain patterns could not be removed once applied.
Fixed an issue that caused wings (back item) to appear detached from the body.
Fixed an issue where hats would appear to float slightly on some head types.
Visual improvements and UI tweaks to improve readability.
A snowflake icon will appear over the new Patch additions, making it clearer which pieces are new to this patch!
👒 New Accessories (All species)
New Accessories including:
Glasses and shades (rounded + square styles).
Eyelashes (4 different styles).
Neck items: New bandanas, collar, and ribbon options.
Face Items: New eyepatch, band aids, and hairclip options.
New bracelet options.
New colour options: Existing accessories such as hats, wings and dresses now come in a wider range of colours and styles.
New festive clothing: Christmas and winter themed sweaters and scarves.
🎨 New Patterns (All species)
New ‘sock’ patterns added, allowing feet and hands to be different colours than the main body.
New tail tip patterns added, allowing tip of all tails to be coloured differently.
New muzzle/beak patterns added, allowing the snout/mouth area of all species to be coloured differently from the main head colour. This also makes it easier to make prominent beaks across many species types.
🔴 Theropod Updates
New head horns/crests: Options include horns/crests resembling species such as Dilophosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Cryolophosaurus, Guanlong and more!
New options for generic quills, scutes and spikes, on both the head and tail.
Option to have Adi’s brow horns and head fluff.
The spinosaur head now has 2 snout pattern options: short and long.
🟠 Raptor Updates
New head crests and fluff: Options include crests inspired by cassowarys and chickens, and additional cheek fluff options.
Option to have NPC character crests, including Gale’s peacock-inspired head feathers, Jophery’s cockatiel-inspired crest, Harley’s ‘ear tufts’ and more!
New pattern option: Barred wing tip patterns for all wing types, allowing the tips of the wings to be coloured differently.
The slender raptor head now has 2 snout pattern options: short and long.
New face pattern: ‘Eyeliner’ (Similar to Jophery). Allows patch around eyes to be coloured differently.
🟢 Small Herbivore
New head crests: Options include crests resembling species such as Corythosaurus, Lambeosaurus, Olorotitan and more!
New options for generic quills, ridged scutes, and sails, for both the heads and tails.
Pattern updates: Pachysaur head dome and Parasaur crest can now be coloured individually and differently from the main head colour.
🔵 Armoured Herbivore
New ceratopsian horns and frills: Options include horns/frills resembling species such as Pachyrhinosaurus and Protoceratops.
New stegosaurian armour: Includes head and tail plates resembling species such as Kentrosaurus and Wuerhosaurus, as well as additional thagomizer options.
Armoured herbivores can now have both thagomizers and tail plates/scutes enabled at the same time, rather than one or the other.
New pattern options for ceratopsian frills, allowing for more customisation and vibrant looks.
🟤 Mammal
New ears: Options include upright rabbit ears, floppy canine ears, smaller ears options, rounded primate ears, and more!
New horns and crests: Options include generic horns and tusks, as well as options resembling species such as Estemmenosuchus, Prolibytherium, Xenokeryx and more!
Pattern updates: Pawpads (hands) can now be coloured differently from the main body colour.
💖 Quality of Life updates
Performance improvements across the game.
Auto-saving improvements: Auto-saving now triggers more frequently:
When completing Paleofolk quests. (Does not include Tutorial.)
When completing chats with Paleofolk. (General chats only; Does not include quest or Tutorial dialogue.) This will massively increase the save rate during island exploration, as previously players would have to rely on returning home to save their island progress.
Balancing Improvements:
Increased the drop rate of Blue Flower resource.
Fixed issue where PF would haggle over extremely small differences in haggling offers.
Changed all treasures to be worth significantly more.
Fixed inspiration exploit during pawn interactions.
Added descriptions for Ambience items to make their effects more clear.
(Also fixed an issue where the wrong ambience item for Carpenter was being unlocked via Inspiration.)
👾 Bugfixes
Fixed a bug where some rewards would be unlocked but not granted to the player. This includes friendship level rewards, quest rewards and inspiration unlocks.

The Plaza has had a snowy makeover for the holiday season! The snow in the Plaza is automatically added and is a timed event, resetting in early January ❄️

Along with new decor items, we've been squashing bugs for Amber Isle! Our fourth update contains fixes to several bugs reported by the community. This includes the issues players have been experiencing where Bosco and Clover would destroy the shop. We hope you enjoy Update 4 and Amber Isle during the festive months! 🎄
NOTE: The sled inside the Tundra can currently create a softlock when used. However returning to the menu or fast travelling can unblock the game.

Patch v1.8.17 fixes numerous issues across the game, including soft locks in the shop & quests, issues with quest rewards, and flow issues. It also includes improvements to the UI, camera, and performance, and adds the ability to save customised presets.
NOTE: If you have been experiencing softlock issues when interacting with Bosco, Clover or any other Paleofolk in the shop, please clear your Steam cache. To clear your Steam cache from your Steam client, select 'Steam' in the top left of your client menu and then select 'Settings'. In the Settings panel, select the Downloads tab. Then select the 'Clear Download Cache' button at the bottom of this menu.
NOTE: If your game is glitching or behaving strangely (particularly with dialogue or the shop), this could be due to a Steam issue with your game files. To verify your files, open Amber Isle’s properties in Steam, select the ‘Installed Files’ tab, and click ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’.
EDIT: For anyone who inexplicably is still having problems with our Bosco after our third patch, the best thing to do right now is to just refuse to serve him so that your shop doesn't softlock. We've now have been able to get a save where the block is 100% reproduceable, so we should be able to get to the bottom of this MENACE once and for all!

Today, we've released our first hotfix patch for Amber Isle, which fixes a number of bugs since the launch of our shop management-sim last week! This patch also introduces automatic save backups to help you restore your save in case of any future softlocks.
Our whole team has been overwhelmed with the love and support you've shown for Amber Isle and we're happy to release this patch to address soflocks and critical bugs reported to Player Support over the past four days! 🧡
v1.0.1 Patch Notes
- Fix: Accidental completion of region rating quests when loading a game.
- Fix: Adi grants the player additional items when crafting for first stocking of the shop.
- Fix: Quests saving in a broken state or continuing slightly as you return to the menu.
- Fix: Resources now can't be collected just before talking to Maple to stop the game locking.
- Fix: Player save file sometimes becoming corrupted when returning to the main menu or quitting the game.
- Fix: Issues where the game allowed you to enter the meadow or open the shop during the tutorial at an incorrect time causing the player to become trapped during various quests.
- Fix: Adi disappearing and not sleeping during "Where is Adi?"
- Fix: Mayor grants the player additional amber during the Ambience tutorial, allowing the player to purchase the required item.
- Fix: Issues where the Ambience Quest, Shop Ranking UI, and Mortgage Quest could all trigger at once locking the game.
- Fix: Issue where the shop would lock because a customer wouldn't approach the counter.
- Add: Save backups are now included in the save folder under a folder called "BACKUP", allowing roll back to an earlier save if needed.

⚠️ New save files can be overridden by previously deleted save files, causing a soft-lock
Please Note: If you return to main menu, delete your save file, and create a new one in it's slot, your deleted save will override the new one, causing a number of issues.
To avoid this issue, after deleting a save, restart the game before creating a new save - this will not cause the issue to appear.
