Official update history
Greetings Awoken.
Following testing in our Open Dev community, we are pleased to announce that our latest Lost Skies update is currently rolling out to all players.
Thank you to everyone who jumped into testing and provided feedback. We’ve made several adjustments based on your time and efforts alongside a handful of brand-new additions.
Please restart Steam to ensure you download the latest update. Below is a detailed breakdown of the changes:
Exploration & Environment
Island Loading Improvements: We have optimized how islands load into memory. You should notice faster load times and a less pronounced stall when entering or leaving an island’s air space.
Environmental Hazards: Watch your step! Barbed wire has been updated and will now slow your progress as you move through it.
Ship Wrecks on Compass: If your ship is destroyed, the wreck will now appear properly on your compass regardless of distance, provided you were registered to the ship at the time of its destruction.
Ship & Resource Management
Ship Part Scanning: You can now use the Gall Disc to scan ship parts. This provides a full readout of stats, level, and the materials used in construction.
Loot Chest Overhaul: We have addressed the "loot vomit" issue. Chests now behave like ship storage containers, holding their contents securely until the island loot respawns, at which point any remaining items inside are cleared.
Inventory Logic: We've improved "Quick Move" functionality and updated "Inventory Full" notifications for a smoother UI experience. Additionally, inventory items placed on your toolbar will no longer be moved when using "Move All" or "Refill Stacks."
Ore Color Tinting: To help you identify resources at a distance, metal deposits now feature color tinting that matches their actual ore type, moving away from the uniform orange tint used previously.
Repair Drones: Repair Drones have been fixed and are now repairing as intended.

Gameplay, Combat & Progression
Skill System Revamp: You will find additional skills to level up, complete with new tooltips describing their benefits. \
Drift Rewards: Combat is now more rewarding, as killing enemies will award Drift. Furthermore, Drift acquisition now triggers when adding compendium entries, opening chests for the first time, and defeating bosses.
Databank Drift Scaling: Databank drift now scales with the island level. While earlier islands will award slightly less, it will be much more generous as you progress into the mid-to-late game.
Weapon Ammo Persistence: Weapons now properly persist their ammo You will see the ammo count on dropped weapons and the weapon tooltip will display both the ammo count and type. Important note on reloading: When you reload a full magazine is now deducted from your inventory at once (instead of shot-by-shot). Since you can't currently unload weapons when ammo type is shared, reloading fully consumes that ammo.
Priority Interaction: The interaction system has been refined. The object you are directly looking at will now reliably appear at the top of the interaction list.
Systems, Stability & Audio
Unity Version Update: We have upgraded the underlying Unity engine version. While this is mostly behind-the-scenes, it is a highly meaningful update for the long-term stability and future development of the game.
Ship Physics: Implemented a fix for a multiplayer-specific issue that caused ship-bucking physics.
Audio Fix: The Cutter "ringing" SFX no longer stacks at the scene origin.
General Maintenance: A number of other smaller miscellaneous fixes and backend improvements.
As always, thank you for your continued support & feedback. You can find a dedicated issues thread for this build HERE on Discord.

For a full breakdown of what's new, check out the detailed patch notes below:
Technical Fixes & Stability
Coherence 2.0 upgrade. This is a big one as it includes some important fixes for certain island entities not being in the right position for clients after the host leaves. It also includes some performance improvements, and other low-level fixes which will hopefully improve the overall stability.
Updated compression on ship part rotation storage. Hopefully the end of wall decorations rotating randomly 👀. Existing problems won't be fixed, but please let us know if you see it after correcting them.
When a ship fails to load from rare incidents of corrupted data, it should now try to load from the "shipwreck" data instead. Investigation is ongoing as to why this is happening to begin with.
Fixes to the way large ship containers work under the hood. This should prevent extra full containers from failing to sync with other players. This issue is troublesome. Please let us know ASAP if this re-appears.
"Double save" when Save + Quit is used from the main menu, has been resolved.
Fix for a rarer issue in the ship comfort system if the ship frame was altered whilst the comfort system itself was updating.
Should now be no longer possible to add a second helm or core to a ship at the same time as someone else whilst building.
Ship part damage should be more consistently visible to all clients. Previously would only work on freshly created ships, not ones loaded as part of world saves.
Fixed coherence configuration issue on Metal Stairs
All character dynamic hair and cloth should now simulate in the same timestep as the player (and thus be smoother/more stable)
Gameplay & Balance
Interacting with the shipyard when a ship is docked now shows the ship part stats (as it already does when interacting with the ship core)
Fixed several schematic issues - Please let us know if you're still seeing problems upgrading
A number of compendium fixes
Added drift learn and salvage amounts for recipes
Fixed some recipes that had no in-world loot objects
Reduced battery metal cost
Heralds should now aggro clients when the host is not nearby, including when the client enters a new world region without the host.
Heralds should now no longer congregate around islands, and will not chase you out of their world region. They'll shoot at you as you leave, but they'll hang back until you are out of range and they forget you.
Wind is now fully synchronised between the host and clients as well as now saving. So no spontaneous 180 degree wind swaps on reloading worlds.
Atlas lifters should now work on the spherical and cube keys for object / hole puzzles in the Midlands region for all players.
Harbingers have had a balancing pass and should now feel like a more appropriate challenge.
Sails have been made lighter across the board.
Rare sails upgrade now work again when crafting from scratch \
UI & Controls
Fix for rarer issues when resetting keybindings
Audio
VFX balancing around Orbs and Cannon audio
Updated Boss fight music
Known issues:
The following are new issues we’d appreciate any information on:
Possible for players when killed by falling tree, to not be able to move on respawn. Restarting the session resolves this.
Sometimes certain LDS Container entities (the thing behind storage, ships, and loot bags) will fail to save on the first save of the session. So changes made within 5 minutes (before the first autosave) might not save properly. Saves after this autosave should continue as expected.
And some existing issues of note we’re still actively working on
When crossing between islands, it’s possible for the ship to freeze for 10-20 seconds, or until you take the helm.
Possible to be left behind by ships under similar circumstances, causing players to fall into the sky.
Storage desync - this is due to duplicated “ghost” storage in ship data, still investigating.
Bald islands - we’ve had much fewer internal reports on this, so not 100% confident we’ve solved them all yet.

Again, thank you for your incredible support and for helping us identify these issues.
The Lost Skies Team

Adjusted aggro ranges for bosses to improve combat encounters.
Fixed an issue causing incorrect Drift costs when upgrading schematics.
Corrected the stats on certain wings that were displaying and functioning incorrectly.
Fixed various loot tables and drops leading to incorrect or no items dropping
Addressed a visual bug that could cause sails to become massively distorted. Side sails now fill based on sideways wind.
The notorious Herald "wiggle" has been removed.
Herald loot drops should now be visible to clients as well as the host.
Hip lamps are now brighter and more effective in dark areas.
Ships are now fully repaired when docking to a shipyard
Shipyards and holograms now correctly lower intensity at night
Island Physics objects now buoyant on death clouds if they roll off an island
UI & Controls
Fixed a major bug where the crafting queue was not interactable with mouse and keyboard.
Gamepad navigation in the Crafting Queue and after Learning/Salvaging schematics has been fixed.
Important on-screen messages like "Fuel tank missing" have been re-introduced and fixed.
Fixed an issue where UI prompts for actions requiring multiple buttons (e.g., rotating ship parts on a gamepad) were not displaying both input icons.
Ship Cores that are not yet registered will now correctly show the "Register" prompt instead of "Deconstruct".
The 'H' key for hiding the HUD can now be successfully remapped in the keybinding menu.
Fixed a rare issue where the input system could break if multiple keys were pressed at the exact same moment during rebinding.
Technical Fixes & Stability
Implemented a fix for the infinite loading screen that could occur during unexpected connection errors.
Fixed a critical bug where worlds could go missing for a host after an unexpected disconnection.
Joining and inviting friends via the Steam friends list is now working correctly.
The game will now correctly set texture quality and resolution upon the first launch to prevent performance issues.
Some fixes for naked island bugs - we are monitoring this closely and are aware there are still some lurking.
AI entities occasionally entering un-simulated state for a good few seconds fixed.
Audio
Numerous audio fixes and tweaks have been implemented.
Fixed a bug where sub-biome audio, such as cave and forest ambience, was missing.
Heralds should no longer play their audio SFX after they have been defeated.
Ship Fixes
Ships sometimes disappearing on first load
Loading ships on a shipyard could cause dock state desync
Ship Undo/discard now works correctly across all clients
Fixed issues when destroying/deconstructing hull panels
The ship you are registered to and your death loot bags can no longer be unloaded after a save event
Loot bags and dropped loot items can no longer affect ships negatively
Fixed issues with ship parts going missing or desyncing when reloading/respawning on a ship
As always, thank you for your incredible support and for helping us identify these issues.
The Lost Skies Team
Hey Awoken!
It's been amazing (and a bit scary) to have so many of you check out Lost Skies so far - we're constantly reading your feedback, reviews and now to rolling out the first hotfix for the issues. (Please restart Steam to trigger the update)
- Removed collision damage on ship parts. This should help with the issues where ships turn into ship wrecks on reload or appear damaged. We're keeping an eye on all issues with ship spawning/saving. Side note: please don't leave your ship parked over cut tree stumps, as they'll grow back and push your ship out ːsteamhappyː
- Fixed datapads not displaying text panels unless PRISM is selected.
- Fixed UI/toolbar not reappearing properly if you close datapads with E.
- Fixed Worlds Adrift Legacy Pack schematics teaching the wrong schematics.
- Added some stone scattering to plains to avoid a potential soft-lock if you're stranded on an island with no ship and can't build a furnace.
Based on your feedback, here are the things currently on our radar as highest priority for next hotfixes (the list will be evolving as we learn more and is not exhaustive but hopefully helps to see the scope of upcoming changes):
- Keybinding issues
- Shipwrecks don't show on the compass
- Screenshake can be too excessive
- "Someone else is using this" message appears for a few seconds when opening the datapad
- First shipyard upgrade does not increase the number of blocks (but the following upgrades do)
- Public/friends rooms are not always showing in the server list (please join your Steam friends' games directly through Steam for now)
- Storage content can be duplicated (it shouldn't disappear anymore, as ships won't be easily destroyed on reload)
- Players can spawn inside the Ark and die, then permanently spawn from there in future
- If someone quits whilst on the helm, the helm will remain un-interactable for other players because it's still counted as in use
- Max mouse sensitivity is too low
Important! We're still looking for more info about these highest priority issues:
- Any crashes - player logs are incredibly helpful to dig into the cause, please submit via Discord
- - Any freezes - We would also ask for logs and/or videos, please! Please submit via Discord
- - Ships disappearing on reload - keeping an eye on this, as without collision, it might not happen
You can see the other critical issues we're prioritising for the next hotfix as well as some things we'd love to get more info about (especially crashes!) in HERE
We'll continue working really hard on the game that means so much both you all and our team - our goal is to make it as enjoyable for you as possible.
Thanks for your continuous support!
Here's what's happened:
- Demo Timer Removed: We've taken out the demo timer from all sessions. :celebrate:
- Friends-Only Lobby Fixed: Setting player lobbies to "friends only" will now appear correctly in the Join World list.
- Friend Invites Sorted: Inviting friends from your Steam friends or joining from friends now works correctly (you need to make a character first).
- Quest Resource Reduction: The first quest now needs fewer resources, making it easier and quicker to get started.
- Player Guide Update: Removed the Player Guide requirement to scan a 2nd databank to avoid a potential soft lock.
- Non-Latin Symbols Issue Resolved: The game now loads correctly even if PC or network names contain non-Latin symbols. (We're still investigating the saving issues for these cases.)
- Language Fallback Update: If your system language is set to Korean or Russian (which aren't part of the demo), the game now falls back to English instead of showing missing text.
- Host Disconnect Fixed: We've resolved an occasional issue where the host would disconnect when a client left the session.
Please be aware that this is a demo and we'll definitely continue optimising performance as we gear towards the release.
We truly appreciate all your insights and suggestions. Your feedback is making a real difference! If you notice anything else or just want to chat about the game, join us on Discord: Discord
Thank you so much for helping us make Lost Skies even better. See you in the Skies!
