About the Game
Nations is a real time strategy game focused on ruling a country through the history. The game provides a range of mechanics, such as economy, industry, society and wide lawmaking. You decide whether you focus on internal development of your state, or expending its territories – or maybe both of these things simultaneously.
You must provide your people with food, consumer goods, and a sense of safety, otherwise your state shall begin to collapse. Remember, that one destructive factor may cause another. Establish laws, construct buildings and manage resources in order to maintain your country stable and prosperous. Build up your military and expand to gain influence – but be careful who you attack. Some nations may be stronger than they seem. Some of them may be danger to you – conduct diplomacy and make alliances to secure your borders. Send your agents and organize covert actions to sabotage development of your enemy, or build up influence in their land. You embrace your goals and you decide how to achieve them.
The game is in early access, which means that new mechanics will be added, and some of already existing will be expanded. It is very flexible and meant to be modder friendly. Right now you can create your own nations, cultures and scenarios using simple text and graphic editors. In future support for modders is going to be expanded and an official, easy to use editor is to be added.

Dear players, this is supposed to be the last small update for version BETA 1.5, if possible. I have decided to start working on BETA 1.6 version, which is going to be focused on expanding availability and adjust the game to more players. My main goal for the next update is to finally add translations to the game and add new game mode or two, dedicated for players seeking for a more simple, dynamic gameplay. If possible, I would like to improve optimization and add some minor features. It is difficult for me to estimate how much time is it going to take, I know you don't like it when an update takes a long time (I don't like it as well), but I will do my best to fit below 2 months. I hope you understand.
If you are curious what languages are planned to be added, here is a list:
- Polish
- French
- Spanish/Latin Spanish
- Portuguese/Brazilian Portuguese
- Turkish
- Italian
- German
- Russian
The list is based on general popularity of a language and amount of game copies sold in the specific countries. In future I would like to expand this list to more languages – this is list of the planned in the next update. I need to emphasize, that those are planned languages – I cannot assure you all of them will be added at once, because I don't know yet how much time is it going to take.
Also, information of players waiting for Steam workshop: I was going to work on it this month, but I had total chaos in my private life and I barely found some time to work on this update :/ Currently I am planning to work on it after releasing BETA 1.6 or simultaneously. Most likely the updated related to workshop will be released as a small update to 1.6.
I hope you enjoy!
- extended crash report system
- added historical regions for the rest of the world
- every province can now be named. Names of rural provinces and uninhabited provinces will not appear on the map
- added option for armies, formerly marked as "coming soon" - since now players can regulate maximum numerical superiority used against enemy - this can limit unnecessary losses, as you can now decide, whether you want your army to use its full numerical potential (rush not caring about the losses) or adjust to the enemy and rely on qualitative superiority
- fixed a range of bugs, including some in tutorial and editor
For now only selected cities and towns were marked on the map, mainly in Europe.
I also realised that many cities are missing or misplaced, so I'm planning to fix them in the next update.
I hope you enjoy!
- fixed some countries not loading from saves (this bug may still occur sometimes, but much less often)
- fixed AI problem - didn't use territories of its vassal states to fight enemy
- fixed several other bugs
- changed some invalid values that made gameplay as small nations much harder than it was supposed to be
- lowered prices of rebuilding, foreign investments, decreasing dependence level and intelligence actions
- fixed several bugs related to revolts system, including one causing crashes
- fixed still existing monument bug
- fixed revolts save bug
- fixed colonization bug (hopefully)
- fixed several other bugs
- fixed several minor bugs
- fixed one save loading bug
- fixed free technology and culture upgrades in countries without cities glitch
- fixed one save loading bug – some corrupted saves should work now
- the AI should not declare wars now in ''no aggression'' mode at all
- seeing that many players dislike current aggressiveness system I have decided to add an option to regulate aggressiveness gain modifier – hope you enjoy!
Dear users, thank you for all support in recent days, thanks to you I can continue development of this game. I would like to inform you, that for now I am going to keep working on small updates focused on fixing bugs, especially those causing crashes. I hope soon I'll be able to start adding new content. Have a great time with Nations!
