Built as a micro-scale 3D simulation (accurate to millimeter scale), this game takes you right down to life at the level of the tiniest life forms in our world!
Spawn as a tiny Monarch Butterfly egg smaller than a pinhead.
Grow and metamorphose into a glorious winged adult!
Spawn as a Jumping Spider inside a Silken Egg Sac, guarded by your mother.
Balloon through the Skies on a strand of silk, as you scour the lands, looking for prey!
Spawn as a tiny Praying Mantis born high and deep inside a massive, living "Tree World"
Grow and explore the massive tree for prey. Finally - Grow wings and fly in search of a mate!
... and so many more!
Survival
Lifecycles Mode
In Lifecycles mode players control an animal species from birth all the way upto its maturity.
Predator gameplay involves high-speed hunting and movement for continued survival, while Prey gameplay involves feeding and hiding from predators.
After reaching adulthood, players experience a unique Mating & Reproduction act for each species The entire lifecycle then repeats itself again with a new egg and a new gender.
Current Lifecycles in the game includes:
Praying Mantis Lifecycle
Jumping Spider Lifecycle
Monarch Butterfly Lifecycle
Common Blue Butterfly Lifecycle
Ladybug Lifecycle
Grasshopper Lifecycle
More species yet are featured in other game modes like Survival Sim (see below).
Survival Sim Mode
Survival Sim mode features elements of Survival without any emphasis on the Lifecycle of a species itself and is great for jumping straight in (no pun intended, in case of the Jumping Spider!) into your favorite species for a quick game.
Face Off Mode
"Face Off" is a brawler type one-on-one confrontation with another species, be it predator or prey.
Sandbox
Create & Design Nature Mode
Under Sandbox genre, the game features a unique "Create & Design, Nature" mode.
Players control a Sandbox map where they can add new plants, animals & props and control the flow of time. The Sandbox mode is extremely powerful and allows players to effectively create new scenarios and experience them as their chosen creatures.
Planetary Ecology Mode
This is essentially a 3D painting mini-game which allows players to paint biomes (as terrrain) over a planetary sphere. Simple educational narratives on Planetary Ecology are also included as part of this mode.
Fantasy
Under Fantasy, the game features a "Creature Quests" mode. These are unique adventure type quests with Steam Leaderboards for fastest time.
Currently these quests are available for the Jumping Spider and Ladybug species.
Casual
Finally, under Casual genre, the game features a "Free Exploration" mode.
Free Exploration allows players to leverage the game's powerful Random Map "Ecology Editor" to explore new random maps at their own pace, without the pressure of survival thrust upon them.
Other Interesting Aspects of this game
Procedural World Generation
Random Map generation is available for all game modes, players also get to enter their own "Random Seed to create potentially infinite variations of each time for endless replay value!

Official update history
This update brings some highly useful improvements to camera for Common Blue Butterfly and Praying Mantis, as well as important bugfixes.
Here's a visual overview!

Jumping Spider players do note that "Flipping Over" across leaves as an adult - a frequently reported issue by players, has now been fixed at last!
Happy flipping, as both the large Regal Jumping Spider and as the smaller Peacock Jumping Spider! ;)
Also, "Dragonfly Domination" Lifeycycles quest - has now been fixed to allow players who are full on bodyfat to still successfully complete this quest! This finally fixes a longstanding issue that players have reported for quite a while now :)

Game Music
Game music was playing just one track repeatedly ("Sweet Nectar Drinker" - the Blue Mud Dauber's theme song) instead of cycling through all the OST in the game.
To new players - the game has a large collection of OST tracks which you may have missed due to this bug if you got it in the past week.
Do play the game again with this patch to be able to enjoy the full range of music tracks that it has to offer :)
Male Monarch Butterfly Mating
All mating chem trails have been boosted to ensure that high-speed mating rituals (like the Male Monarch Butterfly's mating challenges) provide sufficient visual cues for players to be able to find their mates.

The game is now in the middle of a major update release cycle, with development for both the Praying Mantis and Leafhopper Lifecycles occurring simultaneously along with new visual content for plants and environment :)

Input rempapping fixed
Custom keyboard inputs now save correctly, this was broken in a previous update.
Players will now be able to remap controls again without issues!
Monarch species menu improvements

Fauna selection screen for Monarch Butterfly now combines the Lifecycles and Survival entries (which were formerly separate for the Monarch) into a single species entry for better consistency.
Players can still choose to play as the adult Monarch straight away by simply choosing "Survival" instead of "Lifecycles" in the species menu :)

Rebalancing: Completing Spider Lifecycle Made Easier
If you had any issues completing the Jumping Spider lifecycle (and reaching Mating!) at all, do try again!
A large number of rebalancing changes aimed at making the Jumping Spider lifecycle much easier to complete were added with this update. More additions are planned too, and will be based on your valuable feedback.
Notable mentions:
- Food Intake bonus of 25% for Players.
- Major bugfixes to scripted "Quest predators" to ensure they do not return to harass players.
- Player walk speed automatically reduced if a leaf has silk tent on it.
Major bugfixes
Several important fixes were released spanning Gen 1, Gen 2 (and Gen 3!)
- Various performance issues addressed across the board relating to AI population and their CPU usage. Benefits are mostly clearly perceived in Gen 2 but applies to the entire game and all other species too!
- "Gen 3" Pollen Grains and Beltian Bodies now correctly spawn upon birth.
- Chem trails of Gen 2 sandbox fauna no longer show up during Gen 1 gameplay.
- Camera Improvements for interaction with larger predators; more to come along these lines soon.

Gen 2 Sandbox Survival - The Model For The Future
Inspired by the Jumping Spider's Generation 2 gameplay, the current plan is to adopt this model for all species in the roster as the new Lifecycles format.
In this new format, "Generation 1" will feature Quests, Educational narration and Linear paths to help new players and establish a baseline, while "Generation 2" will feature a pure Sandbox Survival experience with emergent gameplay and completely unscripted, non-linear experiences.
The Grasshopper's Lifecycle will adopt this model at some point; quests and narration suitable for this species will be added to Gen 1 while Gen 2 will continue to offer pure unscripted sandbox action.

Complete Gen 1 spider lifecycle to unlock Generation 2!
Do not miss out on the new Generation 2 Jumping Spider gameplay, it is a completely new experience!
Gen2 Free Roaming is a pure Sandbox experience without any formal quests like Gen1. You must survive a densely populated map with prey and predators while growing and moulting. Player specific bonuses present in G1 to make life easier are not present in G2 making it a different experience from the get go.
So be sure to try Gen 2 Free Roaming as a Jumping Spider! :)

G2 spider family with two egg clusters! Population keeps increasing with each generation playthrough.
Looking Ahead
There's a lot of exciting directions for the game to explore from here. With another member of the roster completing its life story, the game comes closer to its goal of depicting lifecycles for the entire existing roster.
Proceeding in that direction the next logical choice would be "Ladybug Lifecycle", offering great visual interest and predator gameplay on multiple levels. However other options are also open, including lifecycles for a new species or exploration of other topics in the vast domain of nature.
We'll see! :)

The Ladybug's lifecycle is planned to be taken up next. Further improvements to the Grasshopper are also being made along with a general round of bugfixing and other improvements for the larger game.

Start your game as a female butterfly, Mate, Lay eggs, but then continue into the next generation as a male butterfly! Or you may do the opposite...
Either way, be sure to play both genders because male and female have drastically different gameplay. Male butterflies feature 5 mating challenge levels for you to master.

Ultimately, this is a pure joy and happiness update. Donning the role of butterflies and experiencing their mating is a very happy and uplifting experience. Your mind needs beautiful and positive images of nature just as surely as your body needs nutritious food! I hope that this update will provide players young and old alike, with something soothing for your eyes :)
This particular update carries a certain depth and value beyond its visual and gameplay components, so players are highly encouraged to stay among the butterflies, for as long as you like!
Multiplayer would be an ideal addition to this update too, so hopefully that can be prioritized for development at a later point in time.
