About the Game
Don’t Panic
Sunrise. Twilight of Earth. The world is ending. Acrid auromas of sun-scorched streets fill the air. Blackened corpses gnarled into shapes of agony line streets. Peering outside is enough to scorch eyes from the socket. The only refuge is in the night.
But the night belongs to the Visitors.
Let the Right Ones In
A knock on the door. A solitary voice, begging for refuge. They look like us. Talk like us. Smell like us. Are they us? Look for the signs.
Your Guests, Your Death
Isolation is not an option. The Visitors will overwhelm us. Let some in. Hear their stories. Some will help. Some will need help.
Some are Visitors.
Do What You Must
The Visitors kill. Kill them first. Interrogate the guests. Do what must be done.

Official update history
- Fixed the softlock when trying to kick out a certain character after you discover their shocking secret;
- Adjusted texture size for the Debtor (Funny Guy);
- Fixed "you have no place for me" dialogue lines referencing wrong characters;
- Fixed incorrect name display of the new characters when they were mentioned by another guest as the ones occupying their place in the house.
- The Mushroomhead now properly visits you only after you complete the game at least once (excluding the ending where you get killed);
- The Mushroomhead now also properly appears after reloading;
- Changed the Exit key for French keyboard layout (AZERTY) to be A instead of Q;
- After you decode the message on the radio, you can speed it up by holding Shift on keyboard or the Right Trigger on the gamepad;
- Fixed an issue where Pretty Thing’s baby wouldn’t show up in the appropriate hiding places. What can we say, he was too good at hiding!
- Also improved the checks for the Pretty Thing’s belly growth process, so it would save the states more reliably. Let us know if you still see it roll back to a normal state;
- It’s no longer possible to click your self into a softlock by interacting with the TV or the bed multiple times;
- Fixed the issue where you could no longer interact with beer after the Hunter or the Fatman would come into your house;
- The mushroom and the apple no longer reappear after reloading;
- Fixed the localization for the Intruder, where he would mistakenly say that you have no place for him;
- Fixed the localization error for the Fatman in Spanish and Portuguese, where he would give a whole {0} of a consumable. Such generosity!
Boring technical stuff:
- Updated Unity Engine to a newer version
- Mushroom Eater will now visit you as a usual random Visitor, even on your first playthrough. Previously he'd come only on repeated playthroughs after reaching any non 'game over' ending
- Second fix for the disappearing Visitors when attempting to save at night and reload said save. This time for sure
- The Usual Suspects achievement should now properly unlock
- Fixed the occasional softlock when attempting the save on quit. If you still encounter this issue -- let us know
- Also, hopefully fixed the black screen that appeared after certain endings. Send us a bug report if it persists
- Fixed an issue with the Mushroom Eater ending: saving via Kombucha on days 7–10 before unlocking any ending, then completing a normal ending, would incorrectly unlock Mushroom Eater . The game now properly tracks whether Mushroom Eater was unlocked at the start of the run
- Fixed the Day 14 ending bug: previously, player position could save incorrectly if not saved via Kombucha (causing issues with the auto-save)
- Adjusted video playback: videos now should play correctly on all PCs, fixing black screen issues
- Balance change: Energy on days 7–8 increased from 2 → 3
- Fixed an issue where pressing Esc when in the pause menu’s settings would cause the cursor to appear in 3D scenes
- Fixed incorrect bribe behavior for the Twins and the Best Son
- Added a failsafe for older saves with a specific issue, that caused the progress to be wiped upon reloading after Patch 1.1.14 Your pre-patch progress should now be restored;
- Fixed with the mouse cursor caused by minimizing the game or playing with mouse and controller simultaneously;
- Fixed the issue with falling through a certain hole, leading to a certain place Embrace the End ending;
- Fixed the "Breakfast of Champions" achievement. Now it correctly unlocks after using coffee and cigs, instead of beer and cigs;
- Fixed a rare bug caused by saving on quit while you were loading into a different location. Upon reloading this caused the player to fall through the house;
- Removed an odd interaction that allowed you to start drinking beer, and kill a guest while still playing the drinking animation. Now you won't be able to close the fridge until the drinking animation is over;
- Added a failsafe for the peephole interactions. Hopefully, now nothing is going to break when you look through it and immediately try to exit;
- Neighbor's phone number properly appears on your wall after you choose to skip the tutorial day. You can even call him right away!
QoL Features:
- Added save on quit feature
- Manual saves no longer get deleted on game completion
- Now, after completing the game at least once (specifically with end credits) and starting a new walkthrough, you're able to skip the 1st day (the tutorial with the Neighbor)
Fixes:
- Fixed an issue where phone numbers and character identities would get randomized upon reloading
- Fixed an issue where not all 3 cultists would enter your house. The prodigal son has returned.
- FEMA agents no longer target characters with whom the player interacts more often than others
- Various localization fixes for multiple languages
- Changed Japanese font to DotGothic (except for button prompts)
- Updated character atlas for Korean language, hopefully eliminating any missing symbols in Korean localization.
- Fixed one of the Cultists not appearing in the Collection -- previously, you needed to speak with every Cultist. Now the entry is added if you just agree to accept them into your house.
Heya!
Thank you for playing the demo! And for finding and reporting a bunch of bugs — which we have now fixed. Some of those were… pretty unorthodox, like pulling a guest from their room just to shoot them in another one. But anyway, here are the patch notes, so you can enjoy the demo (and eventually the full game) without these annoyances!
Patch Notes
Changes:
Changed the Super Visitor’s smile in one of his sprites;
Changed the photo of a desktop near the phone to instead feature the photo of the Owner’s wife.
Fixes:
On first launch, the demo turns on the Vsync by default, and sets display resolution as close to 1080p as possible, after accounting for your display’s dimensions (1920x1080 for 16:9, 1728x1090 for 16:10 and etc.). On any subsequent launches, the demo will still save any custom settings you might set.
Fixed the issues with “Who You Gonna Call?”, “Family Dinner” and “Harsh Compromise” achievements;
You can no longer drink all the beer during item-use animation. Sorry, but turns out excessive drinking really is not good for you;
The game no longer softlocks if you get a visit from the FEMA agent, while you have nobody else at your house. He’s just a human after all…
You can no longer “pull out” a guest from their room by quitting it while initiating the dialogue. As such, it’s also not possible to execute them in another room and get softlocked when returning to the guest’s original room;
The fridge and other similar interactables no longer become non-interactable if you spam Exit while opening the fridge;
The game no longer reads the first click on the window as a proper input, when bringing it back from being out-of-focus;
Initial fix for the cursor appearing in 3D parts of the game and blocking you from interactions. We’ve found one potential scenario of this happening, but couldn’t get it show up otherwise. So if you encounter it still — let us know.
Enjoy the demo and Steam Next Fest! And don’t forget to share your feedback with us. Cheers!
