About the Game

Draw and sell art on the go using your handy foldable easel. Explore the endearing puppet town, get to know the residents and what makes them tick. Help them out with commissions, like drawing a new ad for Steve's restaurant! Or why not buy a studio so you can work from home, just like the good old days?

Use your hard-earned cash to treat yourself in the art supplies store. Maybe one of the many new tools will tickle your fancy? The crayon they just got in stock looks pretty sweet! Or perhaps that heart-shaped canvas? You as an artist needs every edge you can get to stand out! The residents of Phénix may also carry some cool items they could give you, if you help them out of course.

Revive your art career and take on the challenge of the Museum of the Masters in the art-starved town of Phénix! You are Passpartout, once a renowned artist whose glory was lost after a mysterious disappearance. But now, with your landlord putting you on the street, it's time to pick up your brush and show the world your true talent.

- Easy point & click gameplay, for a chill time exploring and interacting with the world.
- Literally drawing your own art, unlocking fancier tools along the way.
- Selling your art on the street, or in your studio.
- Doing commissions for the townsfolk of Phénix!

Official update history
We’re releasing an update today that will mostly focus on a whole lot of minor fixes that we’ve been working on for a long time. It also includes the addition of a new brush that has been requested multiple times in our Discord community. See the full list below.
Additions
- New brush! The Norlic brush, inspired by the request of one of our most active community members! This new brush allows for easier and more detailed blending of colours, available in Benjamin’s art supplies store!
- Automatic language selection on start-up.
Fixes
- Rotating the sword pieces during the quest to get Shakespeare's skull should no longer result in a non-functional, square sword.
- Wiped away stuck bids.
- The colour of palettes should now be the same both while looking at them in the toolbox and while painting. You were not going crazy.
- Save file thumbnails will always appear.
- Fixed the rotation pivot of various interface elements.
- Fixed issues with flickering real-time light sources.
- The traversal UI no longer looks funky.
- Various buttons that sometimes stopped working will now always button properly.
- Selling a painting would sometimes result in all inputs ceasing to function, this is also now fixed.
- Players should no longer occasionally be whisked away into a boarded up house when loading a save file.
- The Australian sun has been tamed.
- The sound of the museum roof being lifted is now originating from the museum roof rather than at the centre of the world.
- The painting interface should now be a more suitable size for any canvas you decide to put on it.
- Passpartout would sometimes become afflicted with rapid onset glaucoma when rotating the canvas, causing his strokes to miss the target. He has been healed.
- The Teleshop interface should now always go away when you want it to.
- Increased the frame rate of some animations that would appear stuttery.
- Characters disconcertingly teleporting around the world should no longer be seen, even on ultra-wide monitors.
- Console input hints should no longer be visible on PC.
- The destroyed masterpiece now obeys the standard model of particle physics.
- The palette now contains all the colours of the palette when shown in the toolbox preview.
- Drawing on wallpaper does not completely screw up the wallpaper painting interface.
- When playing in ultra-wide resolutions all dialogue boxes should still be fully visible.
- The texture of the car that you draw on should no longer degrade in quality over time.
- It is now possible to change the quality settings of the game without discouraging customers from buying your art.
- Drawing on a golden silk canvas that has already been drawn on will no longer completely remove the old drawing.
- A hole in the ground into the infinite abyss has been filled.
- A lantern poking out through a wall is now properly aligned with the wall.
- The shop interface no longer pops out of existence. Well, it does, but you can’t see it happen anymore.
- The new canvas star icon should now act more predictably.
- Anti-Aliasing should now be active when you expect it to be.
- The intro house painting experience is now less sad because at least there will always be paint applied to the canvas even if Passpartout’s hopes and dreams are shattered.
- Various performance improvements.
- Various localization mistakes were fixed.
Happy painting!
We were made aware of an issue with the game when loading certain older save files. This patch fixes so they load properly.
A special thanks to all in the discussions forum who helped us pinpoint the issue!
- The studio looked a bit too well baked on the outside, so we turned down the heat somewhat.
- Adrienne should no longer improvise with lettering when making posters in polish
- Fixed an issue where a saboteur drew some extra lines on your fine art if you played on a low frame rate. This will retroactively fix paintings made since patch 1.0.2 and on (since october-ish).
- Someone (me) forgot to add the localization for the new things in Japanese. This has now been un-forgotten.
This is the final update for the year as we in the studio head into our blankets for the holidays. With that, thank you all for playing!
See you all next year!
Apologies for the inconvenience this caused! We'll continue listening and improving upon this content update. Hopefully it's smoother painting for you all from this point on!
This patch also contains some improvements to how settings are loaded and applied, which should help users who experienced issues entering that menu.
As some users have made us aware, currently the game can struggle to handle save files correctly. This has unfortunately lead to loss of save progress for users affected. To fix this, the save files are moving to another home!
So what do I need to do?
Glad you asked! Most of the times, nothing! When you launch the game after this update it will attempt to copy your existing save files over to the new location. The old save files will also be kept safe & sound where you last left them, though the game won't use them anymore. Should the game fail to move the files for you, you can always move the files manually. To do so there are these following steps:
- Navigate to Documents\Flamebait Games\Passpartout 2\
- Copy your steam-XXXXXXXXXXXXX folder
- Navigate to C:\Users\\AppData\LocalLow\Flamebait Games\Passpartout 2
- Paste the folder in here
- The save files should now appear in the game!
There will be a bigger update coming soon-ish. We just didn't want to wait any longer with this particular issue.
Until next time!
Mattias here with another small update including some fixes you've been reporting!
- Fixed various minor localization issues.
- Trying a fix so the band member stops going wild playing their own music.
- Fixed so the brush selection UI never gets a weird grey flickering background.
- Fixed so you can't ruin your save by accidentally burning key items over at Hope.
- Fixed so the canvas buttons don't think they are bigger than they are.
- Fixed an issue where Passpartout's extravagant painting poses would cause some PCs to crash.
- Save files should now be more stable.
Thank you to everyone who helped out with reporting issues. We'll continue keeping a track of the bugs you report and still have many to squash ahead!
Happy painting!
//Mattias
Unfortunately we didn't manage to find and squish all the bugs before release. In this patch we're fixing some of the most critical ones - leading to the game locking itself, namely:
- Chatting to Margaret about Brianna's mission no longer leads to an eternal staring contest.
- Lancecour no longer soft-locks when playing in Korean.
- Added crash diagnostics to get better details of what may be causing a few users experiencing crashes when painting.
We'll keep a close eye on all the bugs and issues you run into while playing, we're lurking all the forums and communities to gather a nice list of things to fix. Here's a few we've noted so far that we'll look into in the future:
- The hitbox on the buttons on the right side of the canvas take way more space than they should, leading to accidental clicks.
- One of the band members can sometimes get too excited and start playing their own music at the same time.
- Canvases in the overworld have a not-so-nice-looking stripe-y effect.
- Lancecour can go full exorcist with his head while sitting down. Creepy stuff.
Again, huge thank you for your support! With this the development team will be checking out for Easter Holidays for a well deserved long weekend. Next week we'll be back and energized.
Happy painting!
