About the Game
Bob’s life is in your hand! It’s time to slip into your scrubs and grab the nearest scalpel (saw or sink plunger), and enter the Bossa Labs Medical Facility in this physics based operating theatre of chaos.
Take on the cream of the medical establishment in riotous competitive challenges and play frantically blood-splattered games in Surgeon Simulator 2’s rib-tickling Campaign Mode.
In Story Mode you perform operations, opening ribcages, choosing transplant organs, making sure Bob doesn’t bleed out – it’s a barrage of botch jobs which will test every element of your surgical skills. As the pressure to keep the patient alive mounts, you must work like a well oiled machine, choosing to help, or hinder, the life-saving efforts in this unique and pandemonium pumped game.
In Campaign Mode Reveal the truth behind the mysterious medical facility with a plot crafted by award winning writer Rhianna Pratchett which has more twists than Bob’s intestines.
Nothing is ever straight-forward including head transplants – who would have known? The Bossa Labs Medical Facility is as much a character in this game as your fellow surgeons and seems to be totally trying to sabotage your surgical career with its labyrinthine corridors, devious puzzles and tricky traps.
From space stations to discos, bowling alleys to carnivals, your fellow surgeons have been creating some incredible and unlikely scenarios for surgical procedures – and they are all yours to play in with more levels and games being created all the time! Jump in and let the adventure begin!
Publishers note: prior to the transfer of Surgeon Simulator 2 from publisher tinyBuild to Infogrames multiplayer functionality was removed from this game. The team at Infogrames is currently evaluating this decision. For the foreseeable future the title remains a fun, irreverently funny romp through the world of high-stakes surgery.

Steam Patch Notes
Official update history
- Levels showing with 0-star ratings in the thumbnail and terminal.
- Parties do not re-matchmake when restarting a level after a player leaves.
- Loss of some controller functionality when closing a community-made level.
- When in a party and the host leaves during Creation Mode, all players are brought back to the lobby.
- Various localisation fixes.
Update Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas to version 1.5 on PC to gain access to the following patches:
- Level ratings now correctly appear on the thumbnails in the terminal, so you can easily see which is a highly rated level!
- General UI improvements, such as ensuring appropriate buttons are highlighted.
- Newly created and validated levels can now be seen in the ‘Newest Levels’ list in the terminal.
- Fixes for the terminal displaying as blank when loading into the lobby.
- We’ve given Bob his blood back in the Surgery 101 level… where did it even disappear to!?
- SFX fixes in Creation Mode.
- Improvements for controller on PC, including a fix for loss of controller functionality when viewing Community-Made Levels in the terminal, and the ability to ‘favourite’ and ‘unfavourite’ levels using controller input.
- Winning players will now (rightfully!) be displayed on the end of the level screen in Campaign Levels.
- Thumbnails for Community-Made Levels levels now appear, rather than being stuck in a loading state.
- Levels no longer appear as ‘invalid’ when players create a custom queue.
- Sometimes the vactubes get a bit blocked, and now all players will receive a ‘Tubes Jammed’ prompt should an issue occur.
- Backend improvements to speed up the client.
If you encounter anything that doesn’t seem right in-game, remember you can always submit a ticket to our customer service team here. Happy surgery-ing! 2022 is the year you’ll get your medical licence, we can feel it.
- Adding a friend in Steam now adds the friend in-game. Removing a friend needs to happen both in-game and in your Steam friends list, for full flexibility.
Just for clarity, the friends list now works as follows:
Adding a friend in-game does not add the friend in Steam
Adding a friend in Steam does add the friend in-game
Removing a friend in-game does not remove the friend in Steam
Removing a friend in Steam does not remove the friend in-game
• We've listened to your feedback and will no longer automatically add friends to your Steam friends list when adding them in the game. Be aware that removing a friend from your Steam friends list will also remove them from your in-game friends list
• Fixed player names displaying incorrectly at the end of a level
We're continuing to look in to some of the remaining connectivity issues - if you are having problems inviting/joining friends or any other problems, please contact our support team so that we can gather more information - https://bossastudios.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Launching a live game often comes with a few teething problems, and whilst we’ve seen plenty of funny streams, screenshots and videos of people enjoying Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas, we’re also aware of some issues a portion of players are facing.
We’ve logged all reported bugs and technical issues safely stored in our backlog but, for transparency, we wanted to list out the game issues that are being prioritised by the development team for the remainder of this week. These issues require a bit more work and attention than simply pushing out hotfixes, but here’s what we’re currently working on:
- Long loading screens, authentication issues, black screen issues
Most of these issues are related to our server capacity, which has been consistently overwhelmed since the game’s launch on Thursday due to high player demand. It’s our first Game Pass launch as a studio, and it’s been a learning curve for us.
As soon as the server issues were identified, we began upscaling our capacity and are continuing to make improvements each day. Specific server improvements have been made to allow more players into the game, and we’re monitoring this on a regular basis.
- Multiplayer issues, party disconnections and friends appearing offline
Surgery is best enjoyed with friends, but a portion of players aren’t actually able to team up with their friends to play Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas. This is tied to the server issues mentioned above, but the developers are looking into multiplayer specific solutions to get this resolved across all platforms ASAP.
- Error pop-ups, voice / multiplayer ban messages
Don’t worry, we haven’t actually banned you. We’re aware of players across the Windows Store experiencing pop-up messages saying that they’re banned from multiplayer or communicating with other players. This is not the case and is in fact another known issue that we’re continuing to investigate.
Error messages cropping up during gameplay can usually be ignored, or dealt with by restarting the game, however as this has continued persisting it requires some developer time to get a solution.
- Progression problems, missing cosmetics
You may find that your game progress hasn’t been updated in-game, or that when you visit the mirror in the lobby you don’t have the right cosmetics or the cosmetics that you’re owed (for example, Plague Doctor). This issue is impacting a small number of players, but we’re looking into the progress reset issues as a matter of urgency.
On top of reported bugs, there has also been plenty of community feedback, whether that’s around difficulties with controllers or general pieces of feedback. We have gathered all of this, and once we deal with the prioritised technical issues, we’ll move on to reviewing the feedback that’s been presented.
If you’re experienced any of the above problems whilst trying to enjoy Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas, we’re sorry, and we’re super grateful for your patience.
