About the Game
Explore a gorgeous roguelite hockey world where every choice matters on your journey to restore hockey to its former glory. Hire unique players, manage your benchwarmers, discover synergies between them, choose new abilities, bribe the referees, visit the Blademaster for upgrades and a lot more.
CRAFT YOUR TEAM
Take charge of a ragtag group of hockey players in a roguelite journey across a mysterious land. As the newly appointed captain, every choice matters on your path to discover the secret of hockey's last bastion. Hire superstars, utilize the synergy found between players, and harness ruthless abilities, all in favor of crafting an unbeatable team.
LOSING IS ONLY THE BEGINNING
Easier said than done, as the ultimate dream team doesn’t appear out of thin air. Use losses as an opportunity to visit the mighty Blademaster in between runs and permanently upgrade your hero for the battles ahead. When the Center is still flubbing every single face-off, there’s no shame in lining the ref’s pockets with some sweet “maple syrup.”
DEEP AND REWARDING GAMEPLAY
Combining modern precision with fast-paced 90s-inspired action, Tape to Tape offers a unique experience in the form of a simcade hockey experience. Bone-crushing body checks and stellar saves will keep players shaking in their skates, but mastering the dynamic puck physics system will secure the victory. Players and goalies will react to the puck bouncing off sticks and ricocheting off faces creating organic and emergent battles on the ice. Thankfully, there is no penalty when a tooth is lost.

Steam Patch Notes
Official update history
Hey everyone!
Just a little message from the devs to go along with these patch notes.
We've always believed in listening to our players, and your feedback has played a huge role in shaping Tape to Tape over the years. Even though we're now out of Early Access, that doesn't mean we're done listening or improving the game!
We read every comment, whether it's a Steam review, a Discord message, a social media post, or a discussion here in the Community Hub. We might not always reply, but rest assured, we're reading!
We'll keep tuning and balancing the game as we go.
That being said, we understand that Tape to Tape can sometimes be frustrating. At the end of the day, it's a sports game, and anything can happen! There will always be moments where things don't go your way, and that's part of the experience. However, we want to keep reducing the frustrations that feel unfair, while maintaining the challenge and unpredictability that make the game fun.
We probably won't be able to satisfy everybody, but we'll keep working toward finding that sweet spot between competitive, fun, fair, and challenging gameplay.
If you encounter something that feels unfair or doesn't make sense, please send us a clip with a little explanation! We'll be happy to take a look, figure out what's happening, and get back to you. Specific examples are incredibly helpful when it comes to improving the AI and gameplay.
And as always, nothing is set in stone! We'll keep listening to your feedback, seeing how the game plays, and making adjustments as needed. If something doesn't feel right, we're not afraid to revisit it. That's how we've always approached development, and we don't plan on changing that!
We really appreciate all the feedback you've shared since launch!
Patch Notes
Thank you for playing the game, sharing your feedback, and supporting our team!
The Tape To Tape Team
Hey guys!
Here are the notes for Hotfix #2!
This patch is based on the feedback we've received from the community since launch. If you've been with us since the early days, you know we tend to push patches as quickly as possible to find the right balance and improve the game!
We're always keeping an eye on the Community Hub and our social channels, so keep the feedback coming! We'll continue pushing hotfixes as needed.
And as always, keep in mind that all changes are subject to change based on feedback and gameplay data!
Before we leave you with the patch notes, we'd also like to mention that we're currently working on an FAQ and a "What's Next" post that should be coming soon! We'll be sharing more about the future of Tape to Tape and what you can expect moving forward.
We've read tons of your suggestions and requests, and rest assured, they're not falling on deaf ears! We're actively discussing them internally and figuring out what our next steps could look like.
Your voices are being heard, and we'll make sure to keep you updated as soon as we have more to share!
Thanks for all your support and for being so involved in the community!
Hotfix #2 Patch Notes CS14031
The reason we've decided to leave Veteran and Nightmare unchanged is that automatic bodychecking can make the game significantly easier by reducing the need to manually switch between players. These higher difficulties are intended to reward players who actively control their entire team. As a reminder, you can customize player-switching options in the settings menu and use the right thumbstick to switch players manually.
Cheers!
The Tape To Tape Team
Hey everyone! Here's a small patch with a few hotfixes!
But first, some words from the team:
It's been 24hrs now and we cannot thank you enough for all the support! Playing the game, posting and sharing our social media posts and chatting in the community hub/Discord have all been amazing ways to support the team!
We've been reading all your messages, suggestions, and bug reports as well as looking at the run data. We'll definitely keep you updated as we go and work on fixing what needs to be fixed in the coming days/weeks!
If you haven't already, please consider leaving a review on our Steam. It helps us A LOT!
Thank you so much for all the love and support. We're so happy that you guys are enjoying what we've spent the last 6 years working on. You've played a major role in this adventure, and we can't thank you enough!
Much love ❤️
Patch Notes
After reading through all your feedback and looking at the data from the first 24 hours, we've decided to make some changes, mostly to Squad progression.
Until now, players started with only 3 basic Squads. While these are great for learning the game, they don't really showcase the variety of playstyles Tape to Tape has to offer.
We've noticed that unlocking new Squads takes quite a bit of time, with many players only unlocking 1 or 2 additional Squads after numerous hours of play.
Here's what's now available by default:
We've also adjusted the unlock conditions for some of the remaining Squads to make progression feel more rewarding and less grindy.
And don't worry, if you enjoy the progression aspect of roguelites, there are still 13 more Squads to unlock, along with plenty of other content!
Thanks again for all your feedback! We're keeping a close eye on your suggestions and gameplay data, and we'll continue making adjustments to improve the experience for everyone!
The Tape To Tape Team
Hello everyone!
As we prepare for the official 1.0 release, the Beta and Experimental branches have been disabled. As a result, the Beta button in the Early Access version had to be removed, which is why you're receiving an update!
However, if you'd like to test a build that's very close to the official 1.0 version, you can join our Discord Server and grab the 1.0 Tester role in #bug-testing-react. Please note that this version contains plenty of spoilers, so proceed at your own risk!
If you'd rather wait... well, we can officially confirm that Tape To Tape 1.0 is launching THIS MONTH! We're also getting very close to announcing the official release date, along with a brand-new trailer!
Here's a little spoiler if you'd rather wait for now:

- Fixed several cases where goaltenders could become stuck or end up out of position
- Adjusted various goaltender stats

- Increased Maurice Cassoulet’s Speed stat
- Renamed difficulty levels to Rookie, Pro, and Veteran
- Added stats and abilities to some Benchwarmer players
We are fully aware that the game is currently too difficult, especially on the lower difficulty levels, and we agree that it does not feel right in its current state.
We are actively monitoring player feedback, run results, and internal statistics, and we are already pushing changes to bring the experience back in line with what these difficulty levels are meant to represent. Expect ongoing balance updates, with a strong focus on making the early and mid difficulties fair and enjoyable.
We know this is frustrating. We hear you, and we are committed to fixing it quickly.
Known Issues & Topics Actively Being Worked On:
- Difficulty Balance (High Priority)
Difficulty Levels 1 and 2 are currently overtuned compared to previous versions. These difficulty levels are being actively rebalanced and will be adjusted in upcoming updates. - Campaign Team Power Levels
Some campaign teams and elite players are performing stronger than intended. Their attributes and behaviors are under review and will be adjusted where needed. - Squad Player Stat Adjustments
Some recent rebalancing passes may have been too aggressive. We are reviewing squad player stats and will be restoring strength in areas where the game currently feels unfair. - Performance Issues on Portable Devices
We are investigating performance drops and instability on handheld and portable hardware. - Inconsistent AI or Goaltender Behavior
Some AI and goalie behaviors can feel inconsistent or unreliable. Several fixes are already live, with more targeted improvements coming. Clips shared on Discord are extremely helpful for identifying edge cases.
