About the Game

the cabin game
You are trapped inside this cabin and the only escape is through a game of cards! Use the hands you're dealt to unlock clues hidden throughout the cabin to find the exit. Just beware as the cards you play can alter the cabin around you and have environmental consequences...

Key Features
Play alone or play with friends
Work together because your lives depend on it! Whether you carry or get carried, everyone's choices impact one another. It's when it comes down to the final hour do you choose to escape together, die together, or every player for themselves.
Player-designed cabin
The cabin game doesn't have a one-size map. The rooms of the cabin are laid out as the game progresses, through design of the players. Be careful how you place rooms because as certain events unfold, early game choices can have late game consequences.
You'll never not NOT be bored
Variety is endless as you never know what events will unfold... or when! The cards are randomly shuffled at the start of every game, making each hand different and every turn can yield unpredictable results!
The Boo Factory
Collect candy as currency and spend it at The Boo Factory! Customize your character, purchase items and pets for your lobby, or buy tricks 'n treats to use in game to mess with your friends!

Photosensitivity Warning:
the cabin game contains strobing and flashing lights that could cause a small percentage of people to experience seizures when exposed to certain lights, patterns, or images.

Steam Patch Notes
Official update history
Hello, cabin folk!
This patch will probably introduce more bugs than it solved, but here are the update notes:
Fixed bug where clients were disconnecting when returning back to lobby
There should also be some minor latency improvement for some people
You can now use the 'Esc' key to close the game manual
The skeleton introduction will auto-disable itself after the first time it plays for a player
(you were always able to disable it in the lobby)
Updated 'The Knight' event to only have 1 statue instead of 3
Added a settings toggle for visual gameplay effects
Such as the Vomit girl dizzy effect and Clovers of Doom head rocking if you were sent to the doom.
As of right now, you will need to turn this off prior to the start of the event
Added a settings toggle for Arachniphobia
Removed player collision from dead bodies
Fixed bottom purple Oni mask to sit on both player models' faces correctly
Some other small, insignificant tweaks
Candy compensation is still in the works and networking issues will slowly be getting flushed out with each update! A tutorial is also still in the making, but there are many guides and videos you can find if you are still stuck!
Thank you all for your support and you can expect more patches and updates soon! :)
P.s.
The "can't start turn" bug is currently the top priority now and if you have any information leading up to this bug please reach out in the Discord!
Hello cabin players! This update was supposed to come out a couple days ago, but there were some setbacks. Here you will find:
If the attic event doesn't automatically end when won, it will force end once all players sit down
Player cursors will automatically center to the start of their screen on every turn
(this was for some new players that thought they were frozen when their mouse moved to another monitor)
Fixed bug where players' cursor would turn invisible if they opened their manual/goodie bag/settings on their turn
Fixed bug where The Neighbor 'Delay Visitor' choice wasn't delaying the visitor
(maybe) fixed bug where light switches were missing/in wrong locations for clients
Made the game more forgiving for player deaths on weenie and first-timer difficulty
this is heavily influenced by number of players (ex. a 4 player game will only lose 15 minutes of game time per death instead of 30, and 30 instead of 60 for first-timer, etc.)
Some other minor changes
Connectivity issues and lag are currently being looked at and some updates involving this should be arriving shortly! If you are being dropped from lobbies in the middle of a game, you will eventually be compensated for any candy you otherwise would have gotten.
An in-game tutorial is also currently in progress that will mostly focus on the clue mechanics behind the game.
As of right now, the current priorities are to fix connectivity and multiplayer lag issues, implement a tutorial, and hopefully fix the turn bug that is causing a lot of players to be unable to start their turn.
Smaller bugs fixes and changes will still come with each update as well.
In the mean time, if you experience the bug where you are unable to start your turn, please send any screenshots or recordings to the Discord. This bug has been extremely difficult to try and reproduce!
Thank you again, everyone, and happy September!!
This update was mostly about pushing some big changes for optimization.
Made some optimization changes so a lot of you should see a big improvement in performance
Implemented a version mismatch to prevent players from playing on different versions of the game together - which introduced bugs
Fixed join code saying failed to join when it didn't
minor rewording to game manual and some cards to make things a bit more clear
some other small changes
The game is still in the very early stages and should have been left in the oven a bit longer. I am sorry to everyone whose PC caught fire and I would like to thank all of you so much for tolerating these issues!
The idea of an in-game tutorial is being conceptualized at the moment. For anyone that has figured out the clues, please feel free to reach out and share what stumped/confused you the most that should be made more clear (also events as well)! It will help guide the development for a tutorial! :)
Thanks again everyone for your patience and you can expect to see more updates and improvements soon!
If you are playing in multiplayer and are having issues with someone not being able to start their turn, have everyone verify their game files. There is a version mismatch issue causing this bug so make sure everyone is on the same version.
Patch notes:
Fixed the Feeling Small puppet event bug where the toy would disappear from players' hand
Fixed one of the attic ladder's collision bug (still investigating others)
Fixed keybinding issues with the attic ladder that was causing a lot of players to get stuck when trying to climb it
Fixed keybinding issues with the basement breakers
Shortened the turn length for The Knight event
(still working on trying to make this event less grueling)
Balanced some audio volumes throughout the game
Made some slight optimization updates
Added a lot more in-game tips as well as changed several others to hopefully make things a bit more clear, so please reread those when you get a chance
The Dining Room is the starting room, and that has been made clear on the table now as well
There were some other minor bug patches and changes as well
Like always, please keep the reports and feedback coming! There are still some current bugs being worked on and a 3rd round of bug fixes and updates will be coming around again soon! Screenshots and records help speed up the process tremendously!
Thank you! :)
Hello cabin players! Thank you for submitting your bug reports and feedback! This is currently a first round of bug fixes with more to come soon!
In this patch update:
(Maybe?) fixed the end game where some players thought they had escaped by teleporting to the forest outside of the cabin.
Fixed the popcorn balls for musical rooms and removed the monkey's collision momentarily so he doesn't block narrow hallways
Added a lot more gameplay tips during the game
Updated The Attic stalker to be more forgiving when running away and fixed bug where players couldn't drop totems
Fixed issue with AI getting stuck on drawers and cabinets
Reduced chase speed for some monsters
(Maybe) fixed some location/rotational issues with the camera when sitting
Fixed bug where the max FPS wasn't setting (this should help with some optimization issues)
Added separate audio slider for the ticking clock in the settings menu
Some other minor fixes and changes
There are still a ton of bugs that are currently being investigated and worked on and another patch should be coming soon! Thank you all for your patience and for submitting your feedback! :)
