Greetings Commander,
The latest update has been released: Release v1.2.6a - Long March
The Long March update adds 12 new encounters, further expanding the game’s quest system. With quests now playing a larger role throughout the game, we also took the opportunity to fix several longstanding issues affecting quest marker generation and quest encounter spawning. Quest markers can now appear across sectors, and these improvements have also allowed us to introduce new 3-part quests.
There are also some stability fixes in this update including a revised system for profile backups and corruption recovery.

New Quests
Over the past few months, we’ve been quietly building new encounters with our new writer, Aleksi Nevalainen. He’s been expanding the Void War universe behind the scenes, and the first set of new encounters is ready for release.
The quest system is a part of the game that has been extremely underutilized and this patch marks the first steps in our efforts to address that. We think quest encounters and multi-part encounters are a lot of fun, so expect to see more in the coming months. Consider the seven new quest encounters added in today's update (one for each faction's special sector) a preview of what's to come.
Major Balance Pass
In addition to the new encounters, we took some time this month to do a major balance pass across the game. New content can shift the meta, so we will occasionally make targeted tweaks to keep a wide range of builds and strategies feeling strong. This update adjusts stats and costs across the board, from commanders to wargear to ship weapons. The Assassin has also gained a new ability, Expunge, which helps her and her crew deal more effectively with certain enemy units that have been especially troublesome for her.
Planetary Assaults
Planetary Assaults are now ready for release and have now been integrated into the main branch. There were a ton of bugs in the beta release, some worse than others. We believe we have fixed all of them. If there are more, please don't hesitate to post a bug report in the Discord (https://discord.gg/4rV32dzxKr). Huge thanks to everyone who participated in the Planetary Assaults beta!

Retrospectus
What a year. It feels like yesterday Void War was still in alpha and we were still planning out the release. Now we’re already more than half a year past our official Steam launch. As 2025 wraps up, it’s time to look back on what we’ve accomplished.
In these last 6 months, we have seen the addition of 4 ships, 4 commanders, 38 achievements, planetary assaults, a marauding enemy faction, a clean font option, as well as a host of bug fixes and balance tweaks. In terms of the roadmap, we've hit about 60% of our targets. A big portion of this is due to the detours we've taken along the way. While we've delivered new ships and planetary assaults, items like new commanders and clean font options have been inspirational tangents. Meanwhile things like localization, dungeons, and the remaining hulls have taken longer than we anticipated and while we have been making steady progress on those things, they are inevitably being pushed to 2026. It has been fun to indulge in this meandering exploration of the Void War universe, and we hope that fun gets passed on to all of you.
With that said, our goals haven't changed. We will continue to move towards delivering all the items on the roadmap for 2026. Check out the updated roadmap below for a preview of what's to come.
Most importantly, while we’re proud of the work we’ve done, we’re even more proud of the community you’ve built around Void War. Time and time again, you’ve blown us away with your trust, support, and dedication. We’re closing out the year grateful for all of it, and we hope you’ll keep flying with us in 2026 and beyond.
We wish you a healthy, peaceful holiday season, and a happy new year.

Greetings Commander,
The latest update has been released: Release v1.1.4a - Clean Font
This update brings us the Clean Font feature which can be toggled in the Settings menu. The Clean Font feature replaces all body text in the game with a clean, sans serif font which you might prefer over the stylized serif font. This work was a natural extension of our ongoing work to support multi-language text and full localization, which we hope to begin beta testing by the end of the year.
