Call of the Wild: The Angler is an open world fishing game that delivers the challenge of the catch and the freedom to explore. Play solo or with up to 11 friends and experience the thrill of finding and fighting Legendary fish species.

- Fixed an issue with the Short Locs hair customisation, it should no longer break when the player is wearing a hat
- Amemasu hook and bait compatibilities have been changed. We have removed Bloodworm & Eggs, and increased the hook range.
- Fixed an issue with trophies on PS5.

Patch 2.1.0 is here and offers some highly requested new features and quality of life improvements.
Rod Holders are now available for all players. You will be able to use two rods in holders in addition to the rod in your hands.
We’re thrilled to see all the different variations of fish you’ve been catching since the last update! The fish variation feature was fully added to Japan and Golden Ridge Reserve to start, but in this patch, you’ll see more variants in Norway, Spain, and South Africa. It’s not all fish, but more!
If you own Japan, you’ll see a new legendary fish each week from now on, with 3 different possibilities! Any guesses? Japan enjoyers can also check out the souvenir shop that has opened with a variety of new cosmetics. Go check it out and say hi to mascot Kumao-kun while you’re at it!
Full Screen Resolution Settings are now more customizable. You can change the resolution in fullscreen mode independent of the monitor resolution. This can help with decreasing memory usage and increasing performance when playing on high resolution monitors.
The days of being bald under all of our hats has come to an end. You will now be able to have hair under your hats!
You can also feel the grass beneath your feet if you so choose. There is a barefoot option in the player customization options.

- Fixed an issue that prevented you from using liver bait to catch an Eel in the bronze rank Eel Challenge.
- Fixed an issue that prevented you from progressing past the Gold stage for the Ayu Sweetfish Fish Quest due to a lure requirement.
Gameplay
- Japan Lookout Towers will now show undiscovered locations to the players during the survey animation.
- Fixed an issue where the Cherry Salmon, Sakhalin Taimen, and Amur Catfish were showing a selection of incompatible baits in their “Bait and Lure Preferences”.
Water
- Fixed some issues with water physics in Japan.
UI
- Corrected the thumbnails for the Kitay Reel and Kikir Lure. They should no longer look squished!
- Fixed an issue where the Japan Reserve Logo would sometimes corrupt when loading into Japan.
- We’ve updated our text localization for missing character fonts and truncation issues.
Visuals
- Listening to your feedback, we have updated and tweaked a bunch of fish variations to be more realistic.
- Fixed an issue where shadows would act a bit odd in certain situations.
- Made some changes to the reward screen poses.
- Tidied up a bunch of clipping and object placement issues.

Hey Anglers!
The Animation for the Lookout Towers in Japan will no longer hit the ground.
If you have experienced a block after completing the Railway Fishing mission or White Spotted Char Gear Challenge then you will unfortunately have to wait a little longer before being able to progress. We have identified a fix but we need to cook a little longer for those who have already hit these blockers.
This Hotfix will stop this block from triggering for new players who play these missions/gear challenges.
We've fixed a crash that was caused when scrolling down the list of lures while using the Quick Menu.
Space bar will no longer function as if it is the enter key and will no longer send messages when pressed.

Fish Variations
This feature came in last week's patch, but we want to spread the word! Every single catch you get on Golden Ridge Reserve or Kamuibetsu National Park will be completely unique. It's actually unlikely for you to find any two fish that look the same. There are a few fish that have this feature on other reserves, but you'll definitely see them if you catch a Golden Ridge or Japanese fish.

Gameplay
• On keyboard, you can now press SPACE or ENTER to release a fish on the catch screen.
Audio
• The strike sound can now be heard again.
Visuals
• The fish variations on Golden Ridge Reserve have been polished a bit.
• The fish have been SHAVED?! Issues with Motion Blur and Alti-Aliasing no longer make your fish appear fuzzy in the reward pose and handbook.
• Fixed an issue where the water and terrain would disappear in some instances after releasing fish and opening the quick menu.
Stability
• Fixed a crash that would happen in certain instances when using the quick menu.
• Various other crash and stability fixes.
UI
• Fixed some translation issues.

Some of you found your way into the upcoming Japan Reserve after yesterday's patch. We have now hotfixed that, so we hope those of you who got a taste of Japan had a good time while you could! Only 6 more days... Hang in there?
Additionally, there was a fix for the fishing line line acting wonky in the catch animation and some backend fixes.

As mentioned in our recent Development Diary and our special Q&A Live Stream with Chris & Gaz, we’ve been hard at work bringing new content to The Angler! Check out what’s coming in today's update!
We've added entirely new landing animations so that you can see and appreciate your catches even more! You will now pull smaller fish out of the water, whereas with the bigger fish you will now see our new netting animation.
We've added a tooltip to give you all of the information you need when using the Quick Menu!
