About the Game

In this fast-paced action rogue-lite, play as Ember Knights, the last spark of hope of a universe in turmoil. Praxis, the mad sorcerer, has syphoned the life out of the Ember Tree and fled through the four Prime Worlds spreading corruption in his path.
In solo or co-op (up to 4 players), use powerful weapons and skills to hack and slash deadly hordes, defeat epic bosses, free the decaying Prime Worlds and restore energy to the Ember Tree!

Legendary warriors, the Ember Knights, are skilled in the wielding of the universe's most powerful weapons, each with their own modification system! However, the sword doesn’t make the knight… Through action-packed combat rooms, you’ll need to chain your attacks and perfectly time your swings to unleash fiery attacks.
Agile and fearless, use your pace and dodge to outsmart, counter, and stun your enemies!

With 7 distinct weapons, 9 modifications per weapon, 20 skills, and well over 100 relics, there are hundreds of deadly builds to create.
From a fire spreading scythe wielder to a relentless damage resistant spellcaster to a poison spreading archer with summons, forge your own build during your runs.
In co-op, coordinate with your friends to set up combos and synergies between your playstyles.

Beasts, specters, sorcerers, mechanized amphibians, and creatures of all sorts… Fight over 60 unique monsters and variations each with their own unique attacks and behaviors.
In addition, be prepared to face challenging Elites and Champions; the most resistant and deadliest versions of Praxis’ devoted minions. You will have to adapt your playstyle to each encounter and learn from your mistakes if you wish to succeed.

The real challenge for the legendary Knights will lie in the epic bosses and their corrupted variations. From the Royal Phalanx to the Plague Bringer, Praxis will summon anything in his power to stop you.
Try different builds, upgrade your Ember Tree, and don't fear death. Persistence will be your key to victory!

We hope everyone is enjoying the changes to the Architect fight and the addition of the True Architect! As usual, we've been listening to all the feedback and have put together a small patch to make a few balancing changes and to fix a few bugs. Please see below for all the details that are included with Update 2.2.1!
Balancing & Minor Adjustments
Ronin Reflex
- Updated to remove the window where the player was vulnerable if they did not successfully counter an attack
- Updated to always allow the player to cancel the counter stance with a roll
- Updated to allow the player to move, at a reduced speed, while in the counter stance
- Increased the counter timer from 1.0s to 1.4s
- Increased the counter radius from 70 to 75
- Increased the projectile destruction time from 0.8s to 1.2s
True Architect
- Updated to no longer support stealing skills
- Updated the attack patterns in all four phases
- DEV NOTE: The goal of this change is to make the inverted controls and item stealing easier to deal with by making the Architect always use the Teleport Barrage attack right after the phase transition. This should act as a consistent grace period before the Architect resumes his normal attack patterns.

- Updated the stolen item orbs to support getting hit immediately after being fired
- Updated the stolen item orbs to be targeted by Aim Assist
- Updated the stolen item orbs to prioritize orbs with items when deciding which orbs invert your controls
- Reduced the True Architect’s max health and damage in Boss Rush
- Reduced the Fallen Knight’s damage in Boss Rush

- Fixed a bug where the player would have significantly reduced invulnerability while rolling if the player was charging an attack before rolling 🔥

- Fixed a bug where the Mimic King’s Consort would get stuck in the True Architect’s arena 🔥
- Fixed a bug where Lady Inferna would sometimes be permanently invincible after her phase transition
- Fixed a few issues where some skills were unable to damage the item orbs in the True Architect fight

A few of you have shared your thoughts about the Architect fight being a little too easy, so we've been working on some changes that we feel punch the fight up a little bit. We didn't take the fight to soul-crushing levels, but feel like the changes we did make bring a nice level of difficulty to the battle.
Before we fully roll out changes to the Architect fight, we'd like to get your feedback. If you're interested in testing these proposed changes, you'll need to opt in to a special experimental beta.
Instructions for Joining the Experimental Branch
- From your Steam library, right click on Ember Knights and select Properties...
- On the left of the popup, click Betas
- In the Private Betas section, enter TheArchitectIsGoingDown and click Check Code
- A new blue button should appear below that says Opt into: experimental - Branch for external testing. Click this button
- Close the popup and launch Ember Knights

How are you liking the Skills Mastery Update?
We've seen the videos and screenshots of some of the busted upgrade combinations (*cough* Dice *cough*) so rest assured, we'll be looking to make some balancing changes in 1.5. Until then, we hope you have fun with them!
Now, no update is complete without a few annoying bugs, so we decided to put out a patch to address them!
Please see below for everything that's included in this hotfix patch.

Balancing & Minor Adjustments
- Reduced the cost in half for unlocking skill upgrades
- Decreased the attack speed on the Praxis hands attack 🔥
- Decreased the attack speed and reduced the number of lasers on the Praxis lasers attack 🔥
Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the player could become softlocked when killing a miniboss with Soul Siphon and having its third upgrade equipped 🔥
- Fixed a few issues related to bosses and relics, mods, or upgrades that spawn projectiles when refreshing a skill where the boss could take damage during its intro potentially causing a softlock 🔥
- Fixed a multiplayer issue where a softlock could occur when one player has Brittle Scepter and another freezes an enemy with a perfect Frost Wall 🔥
- Fixed a multiplayer issue where a softlock could occur if the host defeats a miniboss with Rupture’s Ultimate upgrade 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Warrior Wisps and its third upgrade where players could become excessively healed 🔥
- Fixed a bug where the ice rings from Frost Wall and Hailstone Armor wouldn’t damage or freeze Rakkling Nests
- Fixed a bug with Gravity Well and its first upgrade where it would spawn a projectile
- Fixed a bug that was allowing locked skill slots to be upgraded
- Fixed a bug with the Oooh Shiny! achievement where it was unlocking without unlocking all the mods for a weapon 🔥
- Fixed a bug that was preventing Invigorate from granting 20% attack speed
- Fixed a bug with Razor Wind’s Empowered mod where it was applying 6 stacks instead of 5
- Fixed a bug that was preventing Cloak and Dagger’s Ultimate upgrade from applying the proper amount of damage on crits
- Fixed a bug with Void Mantle’s Laser Focus mod where it could cast dark spells multiple times 🔥
- Fixed a bug with the exit door in the Credits minigame
- Fixed some visual issues with various player auras where the visual effects would continue after the player dies
- Fixed a bug where additional meteors could be seen by clients in multiplayer games 🔥
- Fixed a visual issue where the revive message was not properly displaying for defeating a miniboss or boss
- Fixed a few font issues that would occur when switching between languages
- Fixed a few UI issues that were happening in various languages

As usual, we've found a few minor issues and felt it was better to get them fixed now rather than waiting for Update 1.4, our next scheduled update.
Please see below for everything that's included in this hotfix patch!

Balancing & Minor Adjustments
- Adjusted the values on the following difficulty modifiers:
- Horde, Ruin (previously Bane), Haste
- Tier 1 - No change
- Tier 2 - No change
- Tier 3 - 200% > 225%
- Tier 4 - No change
- Tier 1 - No change
- Onslaught
- Tier 1 - 115% > 125%
- Tier 2 - 135% > 150%
- Tier 3 - 150% > 175%
- Tier 4 - No change
- Tier 1 - 115% > 125%
- Horde, Ruin (previously Bane), Haste
- Renamed difficulty modifier Bane to Ruin
- Updated Ultembera to shoot projectiles for all the Rift Hammer attacks
- Updated the visuals for Pristine Band and Absolute Ambition to only play one instance of the effect despite multiple players having the same relic
- Added a function to sync in-game achievements with Steam achievements in the event of a discrepancy
- Added and updated some minor SFX
Fixes
- Fixed a bug with Laser Focus and Celestial Tear where it was possible to cast Celestial Tear without charging all the orbs 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Void Mantle and Grim Duality where standing next to the armor stand in the refinement shop causes it to take rapid damage 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Dark Clone and Ghostly Image or Phantom Pulse where it was triggering Supreme Ambition 🔥
- Fixed a bug with price of the Void Mantle mods
- Fixed a visual issue with the Void Mantle orbs where the VFX can get turned off when skipping cutscenes in Netherra 🔥
- Fixed a few visual issues with Void Mantle on the awards screen and Netherra’s 8 portal clear buff 🔥
- Fixed a visual issue with the HUD version of the Void Mantle 🔥
- Fixed a few issues with the Praxis fight where he could keep a status effect after the first phase
- Fixed a visual bug with Oakbane where it was showing a different palette when frozen 🔥
- Fixed a few visual issues with the environment art in Netherra
- Fixed an issue with Bane of Shrouding where it wouldn’t properly snap to the player in wider screen resolutions
- Fixed a few visual issues with with Banes and Boons in shops
- Fixed an issue where toggling the HUD off and on while a skill slot is locked would cause the locked slot to no longer appear
- Fixed another visual issue with the skill slot where dying and reconnecting after a skill disabler would cause the slot to flash the lock animation
- Fixed a visual bug on the game over screen where it would only show the Ember Blade icon when unlocking the Amplified skin for other weapons 🔥
- Fixed a bug in endless looping where Praxis was not returning on subsequent loops to apply his additional attacks 🔥

As big of an update as Knights Reforged is, we had a surprisingly small amount of issues. However, there were some and thanks to your help, we identified and fixed a handful. Please take a look at the issues we fixed in this hotfix patch!

Adjustments
- Adjusted various Ember Tree upgrade costs
- Updated a few enemy values for endless looping
- Loop 1
- Enemy Health - 400% (was 200%)
- Loop 2
- Enemy Health - 800% (was 400%)
- Loops 3+
- Enemy Health - continues to double on every loop
- Enemy Damage - continues to double on every loop
- Loop 1
- Note: No change to scaling on enemy attack speed, move speed, or spawning
Fixes
- Fixed a bug with the Ember Blade where attacks couldn't be canceled by rolling 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Doppleganger’s seeking projectiles that prevented them from spawning 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Cleanup Crew that was causing voltage traps to be destroyed when one of the minibosses is defeated 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Praxis where he could dash or teleport out of bounds 🔥
- Fixed a bug where the revive prompt wasn’t clearing after being revived by defeating a miniboss or boss 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Super Rerolls where it was causing the game to lock when used in the Relic Refinement selectors and shops 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Absolute Ambition where it was multiplying its skill damage increase 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Steward’s Gift where it wasn’t spawning the Steward properly
- Fixed a bug with the Ember Tree’s Bonus Gems upgrade where it was showing the wrong icon when locked
- Fixed some visual issues with overlapping elements in the Ember Tree
- Fixed a bug that was preventing costs from showing in the swap menu of the Ember Tree
- Fixed a bug that was causing the Perfect Room and Perfect Boss banners to stop animating when the game is paused or the player inventory is viewed 🔥
- Fixed a multiplayer bug where Perfect Rooms and Perfect Bosses were desyncing between the host and clients
- Fixed some minor localization issues 🔥

- Fixed a bug where players were unable to revive in online multiplayer games 🔥
- Fixed a bug with Overlord Mack where he was getting stuck and locking players from progressing 🔥
- Fixed a bug where Guardian Bow’s Perfectionist charge attack was registering as a third attack 🔥
- Fixed a bug that was preventing duplicate projectiles from Eye of the Storm being destroyed 🔥

- Fixed a bug that was causing players to appear white after reviving if they died and recharged a skill at the same time 🔥
- Fixed a bug that was not matching the VFX with the effect radius for Bruma’s Ring
- Fixed some issues with the Ember Tree UI that was preventing players from navigating without closing and reopening the Tree
- Fixed a softlock issue in Netherra shops 🔥
- Reduced the volume on the intro logos
