In its madness, the Empire used crystals to create absurd and cursed items. In Escape the Mad Empire, each piece of loot is as meaningful as it is unhinged.
Strategize in the Blink of an Eye
Masterfully employ your heroes and their items in order to survive the apocalypse. Pause the action at any moment to instantly use spells, abilities and consumables, turning the tide of the battle in your favor!
Construct Mad Machines
Your hub is your sanctuary. There you can use the Crystals of Reality to build awesome machines, which allow you to recruit, upgrade or restore heroes, buy, craft, identify or enchant gear, and more. Relax as you theorycraft the ultimate party! .
Chart Your Way Through the Apocalypse
In each daring attempt at escape, you will chart your own path through the cavernous maze dug out by the Mad Empire. Take daring risks to reap big rewards, and face bosses at the end of each run. With each successful escape, your heroes are rewarded with resources used to develop your home base, and let you continue your journey through the Mad Empire’s apocalypse.

- Trying to improve pets movement
This update introduces new ways to mitigate instability and thirst mechanics, new items and a training dummy to test your DPS!
\ Altar of the hero (selected character has 50% less instability and can equip items attuned to other characters)
\ New magic offhand items: Magic Orb (resistance to magic), Magic Book (10% proc damage bonus), Magic Lantern (random stat bonus), Demonic Skull (chance to re-imburse skill charge on cast), Rune Stone (random elemental damage bonus), Floating Eyeball (crit chance bonus)
\ New consumable (stackable bandages which stop bleeding and heal a little, minor potion/scroll which clears statuses, minor potion/scroll of invisibility)
\ Adding calibration options for instability in the difficulty system
\ Adding calibration options for thirst in the difficulty system
\ Added a training dummy in the HUB on which you can test your DPS
\ Tracking inconsistencies of how bonuses apply on items. Speed bonus no longer applies to both weapons in dual wield, and changed the description of other bonuses which gave a false impression of how bonuses were applied.
\ Trying to come-up with a better balance between dual weapon builds, 2-H builds, offhand + main weapon builds, procs vs stats vs skills builds, etc. 2-H melee weapons had their attack speed enhanced. Offhand melee weapons no longer have a 20% attack speed malus. The shield competence now gives a bonus instead of a malus when a shield is used without the competence.
\ Now supporting dual wand wielding
\ It is now possible to cancel the enchanting process on the Enchanting Device in the HUB (at the cost of losing the resource)
\ Plenty of bug fixes or QoL

- Magic items which transform single attacks into AOE will only affect their equipped hand now
- Slightly nerfed item of Mad Swings (-20% attack speed)
- Total Mayhem now applies Flurry on self instead of target, as intended
