About the Game
Click. Click. Click.
Welcome to FACEMINER, where Every Face Has Value. Your job? Harvest biometric data, upgrade infrastructure, and expand your data processing empire as hard as Planet Earth can take it.
Set entirely within the confines of a vintage operating system, FACEMINER is a narrative-driven incremental management 'click-em-up' that tasks the player with building a planetary-scale biometric processing empire from scratch.
WORKLOAD
Harvest data, manage software upgrades, and expand your hardware as you rapidly scale your plant’s infrastructure. Ensure profits remain high and avoid bankruptcy (or worse) as you navigate oppressive electricity bills, high-maintenance cooling systems, and crooked politically-enforced carbon offsetting schemes.

CORPORATE CULTURE
Mining alone is no fun! Learn more about your fellow miners and keep up to date with the office gossip through the internal corporate messaging system. Sift through messages to unravel the mysteries – and ultimate plans – of the shadowy creators of the FACEMINER software suite.
GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
Climb the corporate ladder and gradually rise through the ranks as you are promoted from manual data-filtering rookie through to the ultimate harvesting automator as you classify and sell facial data at ever-increasing speeds. The world of data brokering is ruthless, and poor prioritisation can lead to costly mistakes down the line. Do you have what it takes to climb the ranks and become the ultimate FACEMINER?
ALL-ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK

Featuring a tour-de-force of original 90s-infused tracks by Madwreck . From house to jungle to ambient, the built-in audio player will keep you locked in the zone while you click your way into A.I. history.
BONUS FEATURES
Completed the main game? Spend more times in the mines with 'Endless Mode', 'VR Mode' (for full 360 degree immersion), 'Infinite Money Glitch' mode and more.
Remember: Every Face Has Value.

Official update history
Hello!
It seems that people are enjoying the latest update, which is great to see.
Some minor issues have popped up; fresh batch of fixes below.
Endless Expanded Bugfixes & Improvements
New and improved dark mode (previously this mode was just inverting the UI, which caused a few visual hiccups; all should now be resolved)
Keygen 4k positioning fix (now displays correctly on higher resolution screens)
Fixed dataset reroll timers (rerolling now correctly resets countdown timers to their max values)
Emergency Stabilization upgrade now stabilized (protects you from crashes/meltdowns that are already in progress)
More fallback text (now can easily see when unlocks are fully maxed out in the marketplace)
A couple of localization fixes (one or two weren't plugged in right)
VR Bugfixes & Improvements
Controller angle adjustment (you can now edit the controller tilt to match the controller you are using via the settings menu)
Fixed the fixed menu (menu now renders in world space; much more comfortable)
Language support (VR mode should now automatically respect the main game's language setting)
That's it for now -- thank you to everyone who reported these both on Steam and in the Discord!
A small updated today featuring a few recent requests.
- Window reset button! This can be accessed through the taskbar menu. It will instantly reset all window placements to the default positions. Useful if a window has gone out of view. Nice to finally have this in.
- Number truncation. In endless mode, super big numbers will now get shortened (ie $10500000000 now will show as $10.5b). Easier to read, and prevents some UI glitches that were happening.
- A new option to lock the hovered-over states in the hardware monitor, so you can always see the surplus/deficit values. The toggle can be found in Billing Breakdown.
- Small updates to the Brazilian Portuguese translation, including achievement localization, with thanks to Acanixz!
That's all for now, but there are some exciting updates in the pipeline which I look forward to sharing.
Thank you for playing!
I also pushed up a small manual decrease to the game price in Polish Zloty, as the auto-suggested price for Zloty had fallen out of line relative to the rest of the world due to currency fluctuations. Pleased to have fixed this one.

Patch note regulars will be aware of the persistent multiheaded bug where Endless mode numbers would suddenly explode when loading saved sessions.
Thanks to those who sent their saves over, I've been able to consistently reproduce it and figure out what the problem was.
When players either completed the game or quit via pause menu, then immediately started an Endless mode game, a specific once-per-second interval which calculates the current processing power used would persist from the previous game in the background, bleeding into later sessions. Depending on how the timing landed, this either made no difference, or, if you were unlucky, this legacy interval would constantly overwrite the "current click speed" stat with 0 in your new game, suppressing the true processing power usage stats until the session was quit then loaded up again... causing an otherworldly spike.
This was a tricky one to pin down. I appreciate everyone's patience with it.
MICRO FEATURE:
- In Endless Mode, add an option to automatically sell harvested data every 10 seconds via the Surveillance Hub. Maybe that saves you some clicks. Thanks to 47GodlikeKittinSoldier for posting the idea on the discussion board!
BUGS:
- Made it impossible to open more than one instance of FACEMINER (as in the actual Steam Game, not the in-game-meta-software), which will hopefully help to resolve any remaining Windows 11 alt+tab issues.
- More work towards ensuring Endless Mode remains stable during longer sessions for all users. Do let me know if you are still running into issues after this update.
- Made clock position more robust across different resolutions.
Thank you for playing!
Bugfixes:
- Fix issue where the game would forget whether special effects were disabled on launch. Or, to be more specific, figured out why the game would crash on launch if it started with special effects disabled so we could enable the remembering.
- Get closer to fixing issue where uncloseable phantom windows appear for some Windows 11 users after alt-tabbing the game (or changing the window size). This is pretty much the final boss of launch bugfixes but it should now be happening for less of you.
- Very quietly add first batch of translations. Soft launch for these while the full list goes through final checks; more languages and a larger announcement coming soon.
Thank you for playing.
— Advanced 'double click purchase' technology now works for everything, not just datasets.
— Made the 'cannot buy' messages for software in the marketplace a little bit clearer (ie, tells you in advance if you don't have enough storage or memory, before you try and click buy).
— Fixes for the 'close call' and 'big spender' achievements.
— Improvements to impact prediction reliability.
— Potential fixes for some Linux edge cases.
— Fix bug/soft infinite loop that would happen if there was more than one fatal error happening at a time. Surprised this one didn't cause more problems! Maybe you're all too good.
And, before I forget, I should mention the game now has a Speedrun page! Just in case anybody has the urge to get something on there. That #1 spot is very much up for grabs.
Thank you for playing ːsteamthisː
BUGFIXES:
— Fix bug where the Save Game upgrade was sometimes locked in endless mode games
— Fix bug where the menu page would not honor audio/volume settings
— Fix bug where rolling income would get stuck if income becomes zero
— Fix bug where previous fullscreen state was not remembered
— Small calculation stability improvements
IMPROVEMENTS
— Improvements to performance of visualizer & cluster computing 3D views
— Decrease level required to get the secret top rank
— Balancing tweak for endless mode that makes emissions charges less extreme (and prone to billion dollar spikes) in late-late-game. More to come here.
— Add scaffolding for achievements
1.034 is now live. Pretty tight focus for this one:
Steam Cloud Saves.
These are now live! To be extra safe, a backup of all of your saves is made locally in a non-synced folder each time the game is ran, so if you plan on using this feature I recommend (after updating) playing the game on the machine with the saves you care about on first to secure that local fallback.
Improving late game stability on Endless Mode.
I have had a few reports from players who are seeing random spikes in their electricity use while playing (in-game, thankfully not IRL), especially on either lower spec computers or on very fast AutoMode upgrade levels. I have introduced a new setting in the advanced section of the settings menu called ‘stability mode’. The tldr is that this will make calculations more stable/predictable by fixing them to the AutoMode level rather than calculating the speed dynamically, which was always a bit of a rogue approach. It is disabled by default in normal runs and existing (legacy) endless mode games, but can be toggled on at any time. Otherwise, it is now the default for all new ‘endless mode’ games.
Thank you for playing!
— LOG —
- Hopefully fixed the bug where ghost windows would haunt the machines of some users after closing the game. Not good, this one.
- Made it impossible to delete unused cluster computing connection code messages.
- Added a popup message to alert the user when Infinite Money Glitch mode is unlocked after completing the game on the Slow mode. I think a few were missing this — it’s pretty fun!
- Fix temperature unit bug where some temperatures would still show in F when C was selected.
- Added more safety checks to calculations, and began migrating to big.js for the less frequent .operations. General aim being to prevent numbers from slipping and corrupting save data.
- Few typo fixes.
- Added a toggle to disable the automatic pause (that happens when the game window is inactive) to the settings menu.
- Fixed bug where save and firewall upgrades would be locked in endless mode.
- Fix bug where downgrading the first camera level to 0 would re-lock the surveillance hub.
- Added scrollbar to dataset list.
- Paved the way to cloud saves; just a few more checks to do here and these can go live.
That’s it for now! Few more bugs to squash, and it’ll soon be time to move onto something a little more exciting.
First of all: thank you for checking out FACEMINER! It seems like people are generally enjoying their experience with it, which is really nice to see.
This is a mini patch which addresses the most common bugs which have been reported so far. Full list below:
- Fix for a few different bugs that were happening with the audio, including the voice message ducking causing strange side effects and settings not being applied between sessions.
- Fixed bug where reactors were appearing twice in some endless mode sessions, causing lots of downstream impacts if the shadow-glitch-reactor was purchased (eg an unintentional infinite money glitch*)
- Fix for the 'final rank' not triggering in endless mode. Embarrassing!
- Fix where opening the logstream at the end of the game would cause some sessions to crash
- Add error catching to the manager graph hovering, as a safety precaution
- kWh -> kW, MWh -> MW, etc.
*An Intentional infinite money glitch can be unlocked by beating the game on the slower difficulty, btw.
My apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced by these, and thank you for being an early FACEMINER adopter. Onwards!
- Decrease default audio player volume & email reading volume
- Make audio player stickier! It will now re-open if you had it open in a previous session
- Fix bug where water used chart wasn't displaying properly
- Fix bug where marketplace wasn't fully muting if muted
- Small tweaks to tutorial wording to improve clarity
