Set entirely within the confines of a vintage operating system, FACEMINER is a narrative-driven incremental management 'click-em-up' that tasks the player with building a planetary-scale biometric processing empire from scratch.
WORKLOAD
Harvest data, manage software upgrades, and expand your hardware as you rapidly scale your plant’s infrastructure. Ensure profits remain high and avoid bankruptcy (or worse) as you navigate oppressive electricity bills, high-maintenance cooling systems, and crooked politically-enforced carbon offsetting schemes.

Hello!
Version 2.2.0 of FACEMINER is now live. It has some big changes under the hood, and some smaller ones on top of it.
The big change under the hood:
You might or might not know that FACEMINER is secretly a web app. It's all built using a framework called Vue 2. Vue 2 hit its end of life back in 2023, and I've been putting off updating it ever since.
One year post-launch, it felt like now was the time to do it. Many breaking changes and bugfixes later, the game should now hopefully (hopefully!) run a little bit smoother, and maybe more importantly, be easier to maintain long into the future. If you run into anything that doesn't look right, or changes that seem unintentional... They probably are, so please let me know.
Endless Casual!
For those who want to chill in the OS and not worry too much about losing, there’s a mode for that now. No more BSODs/negative balances/overheating. As with the other 'Endless Modes', you just have to beat the normal game first.
QOL:
Window positions are now saved as part of your session, and can be reset
Can now switch temperature between C and F
Can now use keyboard arrows to explore the marketplace and emails (enter key to buy things)
New 'sharp text' mode in the Settings menu (useful for some resolution/monitor setups, which I noticed can be a little blurry)
Fix for processing undercounting (I don't think anybody noticed, including me, but the ‘data processed’ count has always been off -- this number will go up much faster now)
Bugfixes:
Ghost windows fixed? The ‘ghost window’ bug that was happening for some users specifically on Windows 11 machines is hopefully resolved. If it’s still happening for you, please let me know (ideally along with your system specs).

2.1.0 Mini Update
Hello!
A mix of minor bugfixes & features here, mostly related to the recent Endless Expanded mode and VR functionality. Thank you to all who suggested these.
Endless Mode:
— Cameras can now be purchased in bulk, to save you some clicking. Buy them in batches of 1, 10, or 100.
— Custom harvesting sell intervals: you can now pick how often to sell harvested data in the Surveillance manager.
— Nuclear Reactors now show up in the 3D visualiser
— $ figures in the hardware monitor and marketplace now show their full formatted value on hover, to make it a little easier to read those very big numbers.
— Small tweaks to dark mode to make it more legible.
VR:
— Passthrough is now available! You can enable it in the settings menu, if you have a compatible headset.
— You can now customise the tilt angle of the controller in the settings menu
Bugfixes:
— Fix bug where pausing would allow the player skip the purchase cooldown in the marketplace \[potential speedrun exploit!]
— Fix edges of the taskbar being cut off when FX disabled
— Fix bug where downgrading very high level cameras would not be reflected in the surveillance hub camera count
Other tweaks:
— Added option to disable the Steam overlay in the settings menu. This is a temporary workaround for an issue where the overlay implementation of the library I am using to interact with Steam can cause multiple game tabs to spawn on certain Windows 11 machines.
— Per request: made it impossible to delete unused cluster code messages.
— Made it less likely for the same face to appear in sequential draws when manually processing.

It seems that people are enjoying the latest update, which is great to see.
Some minor issues have popped up; fresh batch of fixes below.
Endless Expanded Bugfixes & Improvements
New and improved dark mode (previously this mode was just inverting the UI, which caused a few visual hiccups; all should now be resolved)
Keygen 4k positioning fix (now displays correctly on higher resolution screens)
Fixed dataset reroll timers (rerolling now correctly resets countdown timers to their max values)
Emergency Stabilization upgrade now stabilized (protects you from crashes/meltdowns that are already in progress)
More fallback text (now can easily see when unlocks are fully maxed out in the marketplace)
A couple of localization fixes (one or two weren't plugged in right)
VR Bugfixes & Improvements
Controller angle adjustment (you can now edit the controller tilt to match the controller you are using via the settings menu)
Fixed the fixed menu (menu now renders in world space; much more comfortable)
Language support (VR mode should now automatically respect the main game's language setting)

FACEMINER hits 2.0.0
Very pleased to announce FACEMINER has been bumped to version to 2.0.0, and with this comes two new gameplay modes:
Endless Expanded
New Endless mode! We think it's better than the old Endless mode. It features 10+ new unlocks (including big hitters such Overclock, Thermal Suppression, the Overdrive Module, Solar Optimizer, and more), and a new Model Collapse meter which is tied to a (lite) prestige mechanic. We hope you like it.

VR!
FACEMINER is now playable in VR. This is a pretty lightweight beta, optimized to run on lower-powered devices -- but if you've ever wanted to mine faces in full 360°, now you can.
