About the Game
When they built the floating cities, they had no idea an insidious threat lurked deep below...
Feed the Deep is a compulsive lovecraftian roguelike inspired by the likes of Dome Keeper and Spelunky. Dive into an ever-changing system of undersea caves. Collect resources that can be traded for upgrades and items. Explore ever deeper, managing dark spaces, limited oxygen, and hostile wildlife, and complete your mission to Feed the Deep.
KEY FEATURES
- A lovecraftian roguelike by the creator of Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride.
- Procedurally generated caves make every expedition different.
- Explore at your own pace. Dive fast and aggressive, explore slowly, dropping markers along the way.
- Soundtrack by award-winning composer Cedar Jones (Jetpack Joyride and more).
- An atmospheric deep sea adventure with lovecraftian vibes
ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
Feed the Deep was built almost entirely by me, Luke Muscat. Back in the Old Times I was creator of Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja. A couple of years ago I decided I wanted to try the ultimate game dev challenge and make a game completely solo.
Feed the Deep is inspired by Dome Keeper and Spelunky, mixed in with my own original ideas and twists. I've also been documenting the process on YouTube, so you can see the game go from hour one of development to where it is today!

- Switch controller support.
- New control system for Deep Dive 2. It is MUCH easier to control now!
- 32:9 ultra widescreen support.
- Fix for submarine and tunnel interaction.
- Fix for multitasking / task switching crashing the game. Let me know if you see any visual artifacts from this change, as it required vSync when on Mac to be turned off.
- Maximum depth line now does not show if you have the Iron Lung perk.
- Can speed up opening sequence by holding shift (or whatever you have sprint mapped to on your controller).
- Fix for grab/drop marker appearing incorrectly when using a terminal, in the submarine and more.
- Found and fixed some inconsistent collision rules on the bombs. In particular, it makes dislodging loot from walls, and chain reaction / diver damage much more consistent and visually accurate!
- Can no longer click on the buttons on Expedition Over screen before they have appeared.
- Fixed screen being stuck red when taking bomb damage during enemy attack.
- DPad working for Hatch Control console.
- New string for Mini Chest that correctly specifies you need an extra key.

- Fix to credits screen showing incorrectly.
- No longer consume any sprint when not moving.
- New layout for settings menu.
- New option in settings menu to disable breathing sounds.
- Fix to towed items not having weight when reloading from save file. Could also cause visual bugs and a potential crash when entering or exiting a tunnel in this state.

- Potential fix to intermittent failure to boot graphics on start up.
- Minor localisation fix in french translation.
- Fix to Feed the Beat minigame when entering and exiting the area.

- New shop item: Mystery chest (replaces the Perk Sphere)
- Heaps of new things that you can possibly find in the Mystery chest.
- Fixed infinite air exploit.
- Fixed multiple speed lines stopping the player from getting their speed bonus.
- New gem loot that can be sometime found.
- Chests now only require one tow line instead of two.
- Nerfed the silt blindness a TINY BIT to make it less punishing.
- New enemy scream sound that is still scary but not quite as “nails on a chalkboard”.
- Fixed water background tiling issue.
- Emergency teleport now has a screen effect and sound.
- Fixed being able to click on items while reading a journal.
- Fixed buttons being able to be shrunk into oblivion by rapidly clicking.
- New “Damage Effects” setting toggle that turns off any blood effects. (For now it just turns them off, but later it will be replaced with another suitable effect).
- New shiny effect when depositing to the shop.
- Fixed bug where items being deposited in the shop can apparently launch stuff into the terrain to be lost forever!
- Few small localisation tweaks (if you have more, please em coming!)
- EXPERIMENTAL: DPAD LEFT/RIGHT to cycle through the items you are currently towing. This should make it easier to drop / use specific items for gamepad users. There is no in-game prompts for this yet however!
