About the Game
Why choose Football, Tactics & Glory when there are other football managers?
If you’ve played traditional football managers, you’re probably familiar with the following feelings:
Complex attributes: Footballers have many attributes, and you don’t always understand which ones truly affect the match outcome. Often, the only strategy becomes buying high-level players instead of finding a footballer whose unique attribute perfectly suits your tactics.
Unclear results: You never really know why you win or lose. This forces players to search for "winning" formations on forums instead of analysing the opponent and consciously selecting footballers capable of exploiting their weaknesses.
Financial complexity: Club funds quickly disappear, and it’s hard to understand how to manage finances and strategically plan expenditures.
Football, Tactics & Glory is a game about full control and a complete understanding of what’s happening on the pitch and in the club:
Transparency of attributes: You always know exactly how each footballer’s attribute impacts the encounters, allowing you to customise formations for each opponent, defeating even stronger teams with the right player selection and tactical approach. This also makes transfers much more interesting and exciting.
Control over tactics: Feel like a real coach, making smart tactical decisions, not just changing formations hoping for luck.
Control over luck: Luck plays a big role, as in real football. But you can minimise its impact by understanding your players’ abilities and building the team around your playstyle.
Strategic financial planning: The game’s economy is designed so that you always feel in control of your finances. The game demonstrates the importance of strategies like "developing" footballers for sale and finding promising talents who will become your future stars.
No micromanagement: This is a game about strategic planning, not micromanagement. Instead of wasting time on increasing an attribute by 0.01%, you make decisions that significantly affect the club’s fate. Therefore, the game lacks the boring elements of football managers: endless spreadsheets, routine tasks, and unimportant mechanics.
Great variety: FTG is so deep that even after hundreds of hours, you’ll continue discovering new and interesting things. The game world develops uniquely each time, creating new challenges and exciting emergent stories. This makes each campaign different from the last one.
The game values your time: You can complete one football season in a few real hours instead of days, as in other football managers. At the same time, each season is packed with events and interesting decisions.
Comprehensive tutorial: The game explains all elements in detail. And if you still have questions, the active community will answer them on the forum or Discord.
Why does a football manager need a turn-based match mechanic?
Good turn-based mechanics allow complex systems to be simplified, while retaining their essence and emotions. For example, XCOM perfectly conveys the feel of firefights with aliens, and Civilization — the development of a civilisation.
Our turn-based system uses key football concepts to make match outcomes and your tactical decisions clear and transparent. Once you understand how these mechanics work, you’ll feel the emotions inherent in real football.
Additionally, the ability to take your time with each move allows for comfortable gameplay. Especially if you’re over 40 and don’t have the reaction speed you once had.
So, is it a full-fledged football manager?
Yes, it’s a serious football manager that’s easy to start playing due to its apparent simplicity, but hard to stop because of the depth of its features.
Game features:
Take your club to the top: Start in the lower league and lead your club to the heights of world football. Or choose any club in the Premier League or another league of your choice.
Create your own leagues and clubs: With the built-in editor, you can create real clubs and leagues.
Use modifications: Take advantage of numerous mods created by the player community.
Dynamic game world: Other clubs buy and sell players, train them, and develop youth — the game world lives and evolves with you.
Promotion and relegation system: Each country has a Premier League and several lower leagues. Teams are promoted or relegated between leagues depending on their final position. Top teams from different countries participate in continental tournaments similar to the Champions League and Europa League.
Club development: Improve infrastructure, hire coaches, and develop your Youth Academy.
Unique players: A powerful face generation system makes each footballer unique. The face editor is also available for you.
Online matches: Play a friendly match with a friend online.
Co-op play: Create a tournament and play a season with friends on one computer (or online via Remote Play Together). Up to 32 people can participate in the tournament.
Twitch integration: Viewers can interact with the game via chat.

Official update history
Automatic class change: Fixed an issue where footballers with multiple learned classes in the player's squad could reset to their initial class.
Bypassing formation restrictions: Fixed an exploit in the "Restricted Formations" mode that allowed changing the tactical setup during a match by changing a footballer's class.
Game crash when no footballers remain in the club: Fixed a crash that occurred when trying to access the club screen if no footballers remained in the squad during the final stage of a national tournament.
Post-match game crash: Fixed a crash occurring after a match under certain very rare circumstances.
\ - Previously, when a footballer gained enough experience in an additional class, the Specialisation screen allowed you either to learn that class or to choose a different random ability. Over time, however, it became clear that this restriction on ability selection confused players and took the fun out of levelling up a footballer. So now, we let you either upgrade to a new class or pick any available ability you like. This way, even if a footballer has gained specialisation experience in a class you don't need, it will still benefit you.
\[Quality of Life] - Previously, in Start in the Higher Leagues mode, manager licence tests did not appear in the Footballpedia. They will now be displayed there regardless of whether tutorial is turned on or off.
\[Bug Fixed] - When looking at fixtures of clubs from other continents, their tournaments used the names of tournaments from your own continent.
\[Crash Fixed] - The game crashed for some players when they opened the national team screen.
\[Crash Fixed] - The game crashed in specific instances when you tried to renew or sign a new contract with a club while also managing a national team.
\[Crash Fixed] - The game crashed when attempting to buy your own youth player who couldn't fit into the squad and was sent to the transfer market as a free agent.
\ - Updated the schedule watching match screen. The drop-down lists now exclude countries and tournaments that cannot be viewed based on your country settings (for instance, countries with Minimal presence or lower leagues in nations that only simulate the Premier League have been removed).
\[Fixed Game Crash] - On laptops with dual graphics cards, the system would sometimes attempt to run the game on the weaker GPU. Since the game does not support integrated graphics cards, this caused crashes during matches on these laptops. We have added driver-level instructions so the system now selects the more powerful graphics card where available.
\[Fixed Game Crash] - In certain years with specific numbers of teams in continental cups, the qualification match dates for the third continental cup clashed with other tournaments, causing the game to crash after these matches. We have shifted the dates of all continental group stages back by one week. National team matches have also been shifted, as all tournaments are interconnected.
\[Fixed Game Crash] - The game crashed if a player viewed the results of previous cup matches in the calendar on a matchday they were actively spectating.
\[Fixed Game Crash] - In very rare circumstances under specific conditions, the game crashed when clicking the New Season button.
\[Bug Fix] - The "Search" tab title was not linked to the localization system.
\[Fixed game crash] - Dragging national team footballers before a match caused the game to crash under certain circumstances.
\[Fixed game crash] - The game crashed under certain circumstances on the Search screen.
\[Fixed game crash] - The game crashed in Asian localisations when trying to display certain Latin characters not supported by the font. The same applied in reverse - when certain Asian characters were not supported by fonts using Latin script.
\[Fixed bug] - When you scheduled to watch a match between teams from another continent and entered the team line-up screen, the tooltip named the wrong continent when viewing the top 1, top 2, and top 3 footballers. For example, it called the Copa América the European Championship.
\[Fixed bug] - Double-clicking on a footballer failed to work under certain circumstances.
\[Fixed bug] - A footballer's profile showed information about their teammate under certain circumstances.
\[Fixed bug] - It was still possible to open a footballer's profile from a country with Minimal presence from some screens. We have removed this ability.
\[Bug Fix] - In the "Fixed Formation" mode, if you had only one striker and they received an injury or a card, the system wouldn't allow a substitution. We've fixed this error. The game will now better process the zones available for substitution.
\[Bug Fix] - In rare cases, AI footballers would gain more experience than the game allowed. This caused crashes after clicking the Next button.
\[Bug Fix] - On occasion, AI teams could purchase footballers incorrectly, which led to crashes when clicking the Next button during an open transfer window.
\[Bug Fix] - When managing a national team from another continent, a specific combination of circumstances could cause the game to crash after a national team match.
\[Bug Fix] - A certain combination of clicks after watching a match could cause the game to crash.
\[Bug Fix] - If you watched matches in other leagues when your own league's matches had already finished, the match schedule would get disrupted, and teams in other leagues could play the wrong number of matches.
\[Bug Fix] - Modifications wouldn't load for DR Congo.
\[Bug Fix] - The tooltip trigger area when hovering over a footballer's Talent was offset on certain screens.
\[Bug Fix] - Other Balkan surnames were incorrectly added to the surnames in Kosovo and Albania.
Thank you to everyone who sent in reports! ːjerseyː
\[Quality of Life]: The game now automatically updates league tables based on current points after watching matches (even if not all teams have played yet).
\[World Cup 2026 Mode]: Adjusted match dates after the group stage.
\[World Cup 2026 Mode]: Mods now allow for more freedom when editing match dates after the group stage.
\[Bug Fix]: Teams from the third continental cup (E-Regions Cup) were not being added to the Country Coefficients table under the continental cup representatives column.
\[Bug Fix]: The game could crash under certain circumstances when buying a footballer.
\[Bug Fix]: The game could crash in Hotseat game modes (Including World Championship 2026 mode) after a match.
\[Bug Fix]: High Giftedness Potential values made certain Coach License tests impossible to pass. Help in one of the tests also contained an error.
\[Bug Fix]: When managing a national team from another continent, the player was shown the top 10 footballers from their own home continent instead.
\[Bug Fix]: When creating a campaign, the "Rename Tournaments" button could be clicked, but it failed to open the renaming screen. Instead, this screen opened after the campaign was already created. Exiting this screen caused the game to crash.
\[Bug Fix]: Renaming a tournament in the League Editor and immediately clicking the "Exit" button caused a conflict with the input field, resulting in a crash upon returning to this screen.
\[Bug Fix]: The game crashed in the National Teams Editor if the player forgot to name the mod. The game will now generate a name automatically in this scenario.
Have a great game!
P.S. If you are enjoying the expansion, please leave a review for it on Steam.
On very rare occasions, if an opposition footballer sustained an injury and the AI manager failed to adapt to your formation, the game could crash.
Fixed.
Since we renamed our next game Football, Tactics & Glory 2, we needed to replace the in-match main menu banners that displayed the old title.
At the same time, we’ve included several bug fixes to make this update even more useful for you:
We’ve overhauled the text input system. The primary goal was to ensure compatibility with Steam Deck. Previously, renamed teams or players wouldn't save correctly; now, they will.
Minor optimization improvements and fixes for rare bugs.
Minor text fixes for English and Ukrainian languages.
Recently, players complained that when creating a campaign, the game crashes.
The issue turned out to be that the authors of some popular mods changed the privacy settings of their works, hiding them. We made it so that if a player is subscribed to a hidden mod, the game no longer crashes.
Updated on 21.08.2025 - I mistakenly said that the fix was made for the base game. In fact, the fix was also made for all DLCs.
Bug fixes in Manager's Journey
Fixed a crash in the Hotseat tournament at the knockout stage.
In a single Hotseat match, it was impossible to select a team from own mod.
The game would crash after choosing mods in a Hotseat match and then exiting the mode.
Fixed an outdated and incorrect tooltip about wing defenders.
Fixed several achievements that might not have triggered correctly under certain conditions.
Removed the Footballpedia entry about the war in Ukraine. It was added in 2022 when people lacked information on the topic. But now, everyone who wanted to has already formed their stance.
- Fixed a bug with the goal sound, which triggered 1-2 seconds later after the goal itself.
- Fixed some broken animations that played during certain combinations of crosses.
- Fixed some issues with the date display in Japanese.
Playing on Low-End Laptops
As specified in our system requirements, our game officially does not support laptops that only have integrated graphics card. The reason is that integrated graphics cards somehow fail to properly render our 3D scenes.
However, we strive to make the game playable if it does run, even though it might not be graphically appealing.
We recently released an update that allows matches to be played on low-end laptops. However, the game still crashed during penalty kicks.
So, we have made the following adjustment: during penalty kicks, the models of the shooter and the goalkeeper are hidden, allowing the weak laptop to render this scene. Of course, this is not visually appealing and may not be very clear how to perform penalties (if you are playing with enabled tutorial, the first time the penalty starts, the messages explain how to shoot and defend during penalties.), but it is a compromise we are willing to make to allow gameplay on devices we did not plan to support.
Please note, to make this possible, you need to:
- Find and launch config.exe in the game folder
- Click Troubleshooting
- Check the "Simplified graphics" option
Memory Leak
We identified and fixed a part of the code that could lead to memory leaks under certain circumstances.
Enjoy the game!
