About the Game
Gambonanza is a turn-based chess roguelike from Blukulélé where the board is small (often just 4×4 or 5×5) but every piece, square, and rule can be subverted with Gambits — modifiers you collect mid-run that bend traditional chess into something else entirely. Knights that explode on capture, pawns that promote on row two, kings that resurrect once per match. You build your run by stacking these modifiers; the boss fights at the end of each chapter test whether your particular combination of nonsense actually works.
It's chess for people who don't really like chess — the actual algorithm of "look ahead three moves" is replaced with "what does my current build of weird interactions do on this specific board." Released May 1, 2026; this download is build 23029088 (the launch build with day-one patches included).
Packaged with CSF + Goldberg, fully offline. 399 MB installed. Single-player only — there's no PvP chess mode in the design.

🌍 Localization
\ Limited Space Strains typo corrected

⚔ Gameplay Fixes
\ Bear Trap now correctly triggers when a trap tile is activated
\ Bear Trap can no longer activate on multiple enemy pieces at once
\ Bear Trap no longer triggers on already trapped pieces
\ Dragon Egg Gambit now grants a Gambit with the proper rarity
\ Banana was triggering twice, causing a 1/5 chance instead of the intended 1/10 chance to skip the enemy turn
\ Magical Brush Gambit can no longer place tiles on already modified tiles
\ Squire’s “No Luck” effect now only triggers when a Knight moves

We are also retiring the demo on steam as the focus for improvements and new content will focus on the main game from now on forward.
