About the Game
GRIDROAD is a traffic optimisation puzzle/simulation game. Build roads, place roadsigns and tweak traffic lights to build the most efficient traffic junction!
Remember that time you were stuck in traffic for the umpteenth time at that idiotically designed junction? Remember how you swore you could have designed a better intersection in your sleep? Well look no further, GRIDROAD is the game for you!

Language support is a little bit basic for now as some key UI elements still need to be changed but the tutorial and main menu have been translated so it should be easily playable.

- Tweaked the car AI. Throughout the game's development I've been caught between two crowds. One crowd wants cars to behave realistically and not crash, the other likes a more arcadey AI that can be exploited to produce very visually pleasing but very unrealistic solutions to levels. I've tweaked things so that hopefully both crowds will still be happy. Cars now spawn with a regular cadence and also the drivers will be less careful when pulling out into junctions. This will mean your existing solution will give different scores but the score ceiling for nearly every level should be higher.
- Added WASD road marking placement controls. If you press a WASD key over a tile you will add/remove that direction of arrow to the tile. Merge markings can be placed by holding the "backwards direction" WASD key and then pressing another "side" key depending which side you want the merge on. So if you are hovering over a north facing road marking, you would hold "S" and the press "A" to place a merge on the left side. I'll put out a proper tutorial for this soon but I just want to iron out any bugs before I do that. (Also, this allows you to modify road marking that are under traffic lights without deleting the traffic light!)
- Reworked Youturn. The new AI made the old Youturn trivial to solve. I added a couple of trees to make things more interesting.
- Dev and Andy scores have been updated to account for the change in car AI.

- Fixed an issue where level saves would disappear if you started the simulation. (thanks for the report!)
- Fixed certain hotkeys not working on alternative keyboard layouts such as AZERTY. (thanks for the report!)
- You can now also use ctrl+shift+z to redo for those of you who prefer it. (thanks for the suggestion!)
Additionally, I forgot to publish the new achievements for the 3 new levels yesterday, so they should now be working. (thanks for reminding me!)

Level week is done! This week(ish) was a bit of a challenge I wanted to set myself to see if I could put out fun quality levels relatively quickly. I think it was a success, hopefully you agree!
What's next?
After adding some QoL improvements, I had intended to move my focus onto the "car AI update" but a lot of recent feedback has convinced me I need to revisit the new player experience. So I will be spending the next couple of weeks adding QoL features, redoing the tutorial, adding features that let the player debug their road desins etc.
I will still be adding levels/achievements during this time. So keep an eye out!
