About the Game
Haste is a high-speed third-person running game, set in a collapsing universe. Race through a variety of worlds, master your movement and use items and abilities to progress through each level before it falls apart around you. The game consists of ten Shards, each featuring a collection of procedurally generated levels that must be completed without fail to unlock the next. You’ll encounter challenges and characters on your journey, seeking answers about what lies behind the destruction, and how to escape it!
FEATURES
Third-person high-speed running gameplay
Both single player and online co-op running
10 Shards, each featuring a collection of procedurally generated levels that must be completed without fail to advance to the next Shard
90+ Items that let you customize your build for each attempt to clear a Shard
A story to explore and a lovable cast of characters to befriend
Four spectacular biomes with several different variations
4 abilities to master and 4 different bosses to discover
An unlockable endless mode
MASTER YOUR MOVEMENT
Mind-blowing speed is key and every landing counts! Hit the ground running (literally) and you’ll build up speed, but if you fumble it will cost you. You’ll need to think fast and keep track of your ever-changing surroundings to escape before the world crumbles beneath your feet.
ITEMS
In your run you'll be able to collect Sparks to use in the shop levels to manifest items. Items help you customise your run, affecting speed, damage, luck, health and other variables.
PROCEDURAL WORLDS
Speed through procedurally generated levels as you make your way through each Shard, completing every level before you run out of lives to advance to the next. Gather items and experiment with builds to help you on your way. Your journey through the broken worlds will be unique to you as you try to outrun the apocalypse.
CO-OP RUNNING
You can now play through the entire game with other Zoes! It's cooperative in that you work together to progress, but we also keep track of player times in levels, which allows for some friendly and pleasant competition. To keep your friends apart we have unlockable skins!
THE CREW

As Zoe, you’ll meet different characters to aid you on your journey, whether through wisdom, encouragement or items to assist you.

Official update history
Hello everyone!
I hope you're all enjoying running in the summer heat, or the winter cold, depending on which part of the globe you're on.
I wanted to drop by to say hi, and coincidentally, the team also had an update they wanted me to tell you about!
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44762838/8c62a14274e4275a143ddd3e5f1933b3eee44dda.png"]
Since I've been on holiday, I don't know what's coming, so let's find out what's in this update...
Oh, that looks important.
Oh! That one looks *very* important!
Well, we should all celebrate that Endless saves have been fixed! (And forgive and forget that they were ever broken...... :grunt: )
Patch notes:
Saves work in the Endless Shard again! (Finally I won't have to keep the game running for three days straight anymore!)
The Time Trial result Continue button is now selectable on a controller
Fixed settings tab sizes when changing languages
Fixed an issue where the name of the button would appear in some text in the intro tutorial rather than the actual button glyph
Steam Deck Specific:
Fixed an issue where some other nonsense (<sprite="" index=0>) would show up instead of a button glyph in the tutorial
That's it for now!
Hopefully this results in a more stable experience for everyone. I'm gonna be seeking some stability myself in the next part of my vacation. One of my best friends suggested I try a silent retreat, so I will not be saying a single word for an entire week! Wish me luck!
Oh, what's this? I almost forgot to show off community art this time!

Whoa, thank you all for your patience as the dev team has been fixing the game across all platforms!

It’s a lot of technical work to fix different issues across several different machines, and while I’m sure Gan and Dalil would have relished that challenge, they were not available for this, what with being busy with the end of the universe and everything.
Even without their help, the most troublesome issues - including those nasty crashes - have been fixed.
Long-time players will also be delighted to know that the team has finally, finally, FINALLY fixed the issue where closing the game after finishing a boss fight no longer gets you stuck on the map screen! Real Haste-heads know.
Patch Notes:
Closing the game/crashing after completing a boss fight, but before you complete the completed-shard-UI, no longer causes you to re-enter the map screen with the boss node unselectable
Fix achievements like The Machine not triggering if you have a non-perfect landing after entering a portal
Jumper 3 now uses the correct music for Jumper 3 instead of accidentally reusing Jumper 2 music
That’s it for now! Have fun with these stability improvements!
It’s also been a while but we can’t do patch notes without showing some more fanart from the Discord!

Seems like a weeboh got into the code and caused the Collapse Speed to use the Obstacles difficulty setting instead.
That could make it very very fast!
We have also made it so that weebohs following you will be slightly less likely to get stuck staring down into the ground.
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44762838/ceb793aa960434799a867a5ebce0b667a0fe40bb.png"]
That's all!
Patch notes:
Fixed Collapse Speed using the Obstacles difficulty setting instead of its own
Weebohs are slightly more balanced (but not very)

Turns out that the ability to rearrange items was not persisting between levels.
Ooops!~
In addition, we have fixed a memory leak in the Settings menu. Special thanks to PoWeR of GreeD for bringing it to the team's attention!
Fixes:
- Changing the order of items in your Inventory now persists between levels
- Fixed a memory leak in the settings menu
That's all!

The Real 1.7.e
As most of you will have noticed, Sparks disappeared from levels with the latest update! This is the culmination of a long and painful journey, and we have now taken some fairly radical steps to make sure that players get everything they need:
No security vulnerability
No crashes
Yes Sparks
Here's the patch notes:
Sparks now appear in levels again
Modding notes:
We have *downgraded* the engine version to 6000.0.46f1, which was the last version where we are confident the engine was sufficiently stable. (This is from before the Unity security vulnerability was fixed, but we have applied patches as necessary for all platforms.)
Now, rumours of a 1.7.f have been greatly exaggerated!
Isn't that technically what this version should be? Yes.
Did the person who currently has to manually build and patch every version of the game forget about it? Yes.
Is it a big enough issue that we're going to go through the entire process again? No.

1.7.e Ability Tweaks and - once again - CRASH FIXES!
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44762838/8c62a14274e4275a143ddd3e5f1933b3eee44dda.png"]
We're already on "1.7.e", huh? Well, the good news is that the team has finally figured out the main sources of problems causing crashes for people! (For real this time, hah!)
Note from the team:
"A number of different memory issues have been resolved in this update, including some that could potentially cause (rare) crashes that have been in the game since release. We have also identified and dealt with the main reason for the recent increase in crashes, which could only be correctly identified after every other memory issue had been resolved. This has been a very long and difficult journey, which is why it has taken a while, but the upside is that the game should now be more stable for everyone, even if you weren't suffering from the new crashes!"
While a crash fix has been the top priority, a little balance pass on the different Abilities has also snuck into the update!
The goal for the Abilities is that different people should have different favourites, and that every Ability should have someone insisting that it's "the best one". That means that the team doesn't want to make an Ability worse for the sake of balance, but rather to make Abilities that are lagging behind better. Try it out and see which one has been the most improved this time! ;D
Patch notes:
Ability Balance:
Reduced the cost of the Javelin ability from 33 Energy to 24 Energy
Reduced the cost of the Board's ability from 30 Energy/second to 24 Energy/second
Increased the jump force from using the Board in the air by 40% (this has less of an impact than it sounds like) - Increased the cost of the Cowl ability from 16,66 Energy to 20 Energy
The Board now gives 33% damage reduction and 50% resistance to speed loss from collisions. The Hourglass ability now reaches its target "increased turn speed" value twice as fast
The Hourglass now has some additional VFX... It doesn't technically make it better at its job, but it might still make it "better"!
Other balance:
The Small World, Big Rings challenge now only requires you to pass through 3 rings instead of 5. The time limits have been reduced by between 30-40%. This makes the challenge marginally easier, and if you struggle to complete it you will also fail faster. Fixes:
Fixed a frequent crash caused by memory issues in particle effects - Numerous memory fixes in the Level Generation process contributing to crashes
Controllers can no longer get stuck rumbling when switching to mouse & keyboard in the middle of a rumble - Twisted Flopsy now correctly has Boost lights on both feet
Fragment Distortion notifications now show the correct header text - Gamepad camera sensitivity now remains normal while time is slowed down (for whatever reason), matching the behaviour of mouse look
Modding notes:
Updated engine version to 6000.0.59.2f in order to resolve the crashes in the particle system. Apart from versioning, nothing significant should have changed.

Crash fixes!
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44762838/8c62a14274e4275a143ddd3e5f1933b3eee44dda.png"]
Phew, this has been an intense week for Haste!
While crashes are still uncommon for most players, the latest update definitely caused them to become way more frequent for some people. This update hopefully goes some way to fixing that!
We have fixed the issue where some Linux platforms would crash in the tutorial, and we hope we have also fixed another irregular crash that was affecting Windows players.
However, if you still experience crashes, please let us know and send us your player.log files!
They are located in the following folders:
Windows: %USERPROFILE%\\AppData\\LocalLow\\Landfall\\Haste\\Player.log
(To open the AppData folder quickly, simply open the Run function (press the Windows button and type "Run", enter "appdata" in the little window that opens and click ok)
Mac: ~/Library/Logs/Landfall/Haste/Player.log
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Landfall/Haste/Player.log
The easiest way to get in touch is on our Discord, but you can also contact [email protected] with your issues.
Patch notes:
Fix: Native Linux builds no longer crash in the tutorial
Fix: Fixed a couple of issues that could cause orphaned "rumble instances" - this is a little hard to explain without a technical chart, but we think this is one of the sources of crashes!
Fix: There is no longer a disembodied weeboh mask floating in space in some levels (???)
Fix: Fixed a rare edge case where prices in the Research Outpost could be displayed as unaffordable even if you had the exact right amount of Sparks
See you out there in the worlds!

Hi again!
I'm here with the tiniest update we've ever released, and a message from the team:
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44762838/8c62a14274e4275a143ddd3e5f1933b3eee44dda.png"]
"We're aware of a Linux issue where the game crashes in the tutorial for a number of players.
The current workaround for this is to play through the tutorial with Proton. After that the game should be fully playable natively.
While we have isolated the problem, we wanted to make sure that players on Steam Deck and other Linux platforms will be able to play the game with less hassle over the weekend. We have therefore added a "Skip Tutorial" button in the pause menu during the tutorial. Using this to skip the first section of the tutorial will let you play the rest of the game as usual.
We're working on a fix for the crash in general, so this is just a stopgap measure to make life a little easier until then.
Thank you all for your patience.
The Haste Team"
Well, there you have it! I couldn't have said it better myself. Well, maybe a little better. A little snappier. But be kind to them, they are doing their best!
Patch notes:
- Added a "Skip Tutorial" option to the pause menu during the Tutorial
Proton instructions for Steam Deck:
- In the Steam Deck interface, select Haste and press the Menu Button (the tiny hamburger button above the right stick) to open the game-specific menu
- Select "Properties..." to open the Properties menu
- Go to "Compatibility" and check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool"
- In the dropdown that appears, select the latest version of Proton
- Navigate back out to the game menu, and launch Haste as normal
See you out there in the worlds!
I'm back! Already!

This is a really quick little patch that solves a handful issues from Monday, primarily some item changes that got overlooked.
These very early results are promising, though. It does not seem like we need to press the big "UNDO EVERYTHING!!!" button.
The team is keeping an eye on everyone and taking note of how things are going. (Almost like watching people in other worlds...)
Keep up talking about what you like and which changes you're less pleased with. The team needs feedback!
Patch notes:
UI:
Added a setting to allow or disallow rumble when the game window does not have focus
Balance:
Increased the chance of getting higher-Rarity items by a few percent, in order to make them more common in lower difficulty Shards
The Hungry Weeboh is now only available in Shard 3 onwards (for onboarding reasons)
Fixes:
Item - Karma now shows the correct amount of Luck
Item - Tight Schedule now gives a -0.5s Cooldown, as intended
The Disaster selection for Endless no longer goes up to 5 if you have completed 4 (It was broken and there's no Disaster 5!)
Fixed an edge case where losing focus of the game window while charging up to run could result in continuous controller rumble
Minor improvements to transitions when entering a Shard
That's it for now, but I'll of course be asking the team for another update if any serious issues pop up!

[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44762838/8c62a14274e4275a143ddd3e5f1933b3eee44dda.png"]
Patch notes:
Balance:
The Fragment Disruptions giving discounts to all items in a Resource Outpost now give a discount to the first two items you buy instead
The Flotation Device now has a more accurate tooltip, and its effect triggers for every 5 seconds spent in the air instead of every 3 seconds.
Fixes:
Made various fixes to the Player list menu (for managing players and giving lives in multiplayer), and in particular made it work well on a controller again!
Discounted prices and discount labels in the Research Outpost weren't updating correctly after manifesting an item, but now they do!
We also fixed an issue where discounts that applied to X number of items didn't update properly. But now they do!
Settings and interface:
The tutorial now defaults to showing the trigger rather than a face button as the default Dive button on a controller. The old setup inadvertently told new players that you don't need to bother with the camera while you're diving - which you often do!
Increased default gamepad camera sensitivity to make it feel a little more snappy and responsive without having to dive into the settings menu.
About the change to the Fragment Disruptions: The old version was pretty strong to begin with, and got stronger and stronger the more Sparks you have... so we made them strong in a different way instead! They no longer allow you to manifest a ton of items at very low cost just because you have a lot of Sparks, but on the other hand it's usable beyond the first Research Outpost you visit, if you choose not to use it - or if it's early in a run and you don't have enough Sparks to make use of it. Let us know whether this feels like an improvement!
There's also been some fun stuff happening on the Discord lately! There has been a popularity poll, and the winner- Wait, this can't be right?

[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44762838/8c62a14274e4275a143ddd3e5f1933b3eee44dda.png"]
The team has been breathing a sigh of relief that nothing seems to have caught fire despite the size of the update! However, there were still some small issues to iron out. The team is also going to keep an eye out for issues that crop up and for feedback on the new items and balance changes over the weekend, so please keep sharing your thoughts on the new update, both if your feedback is positive and if it is... constructive!
Features:
Fragment Disruptions now have a setting allowing you to adjust their frequency between 0%-200% (defaults to 100% on all difficulties)
Balance changes:
Minor equalising of Fragment Disruptions to make some negative and positive versions of the same effect equally likely to appear (we're talking probability changes of 1-2% here, nothing to worry about)
Fixes:
Fixed the visuals for the new item Risk and Reward
Notifications now animate correctly even if you have the Item View screen open
Fixed controller navigation for the Unlocked Items screen that Gan is in charge of
Endless now has its own Fragment Disruption set, which does not contain Research Outpost Discounts or the permanent boost bonus. We also temporarily removed the Disruptions giving items until they can be properly fixed
Corrected the map and notification icons for the temporary and permanent Boost increase Fragment Disruptions (they were inverted)
Enjoy!

Hey everyone! It's finally happening! As we speak, the team has put out an update that will let you dress up Zoe in the outfit of none other than Flopsy the Lovable Clown!!!
I know a lot of you have been clamouring for this day, so I won't keep you too long, but there are a couple of fixes in today's update as well.
Without further barely-contained-Flopsy-excitement, here are the patch notes:
New Content:
- Enabled the Flopsy the Lovable Clown outfit!
- Enabled the dark and mysterious Twisted Flopsy outfit!
Fixes:
- Disaster Crowns now correctly appear for all players in Disaster Mode
- The text for the Invite Screen now works correctly in all languages
- Added missing localization to some dialogue scenes in some languages
- Visual and performance improvements to the multiplayer running trails
That's all for today! Please keep reporting any issues you run into on the Discord server or the Steam forums!
