About the Game
From Campfire to Kingdom. Citybuilder Clicker.
Hearth and Hamlet is a cozy incremental citybuilder set in a magic-filled medieval pixel art world. Gather resources, assign workers, construct buildings and slowly, steadily turn a quiet frontier camp into a magnificent, thriving kingdom.
From humble beginnings to magical new heights, you’ll grow your settlement one decision at a time and discover more of what the world has to offer along the way.
RUN YOUR KINGDOM YOUR WAY
Building is only the beginning. As your settlement grows, managing it becomes just as important as expanding it. Set laws and policies to shape how your kingdom operates, including taxation rules to boost income, rules for workers that keep morale high, city guard drafts to protect your population and civic decisions that change the character of your kingdom.
Every upgrade feeds into a research tree that permanently unlocks new technologies, from more advanced buildings and new policies, to stronger magic to experiment with. There’s always something worth working toward.
EXPLORE MAGIC AND TRADE WITH FARAWAY LANDS
Unlock magic as your city advances and discover wild new possibilities, such as alchemical labs and magical academies that add a whole new dimension to how your kingdom operates.
Trade with strange new lands to build resources and grow your economy. Recruit soldiers as your realm expands to protect what you’ve built. There’s a world of wonder to discover as your empire grows.

Steam Patch Notes
Official update history
Gameplay Changes
• A new tutorial popup has been added to help avoid confusion when building your first ship.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a very rare but stubborn bug that could cause the Ashenholt army to fail to spawn, or the quest to be skipped after a failed attempt.
Additional Changes
• Memory optimisation: Dozens of audio assets have been altered so they use less RAM while retaining their high quality.
• Increased the recommended Steam requirements to 16GB of RAM (up from 8GB). 8GB can still work flawlessly, but leaves little room for multitasking.
• One-Way and Stable Portals are now cheaper to purchase.
Bug Fixes
• One-Way Portals are now activated at the Wizard Academy Shop instead of the Town Square.
• Fixed numerous small graphical glitches.
Additional Changes
• VRAM optimisation: Heavy changes have been made to hundreds of assets throughout the game to make them leaner. This is only the first wave of VRAM optimisation, but I wanted to push this out now to help players experiencing VRAM-related crashes or glitches (white squares / textures not loading).
• Steam launch options have been refined and improved.
• Fixed a rare crash that could occur when an enemy died.
• Fixed a rare bug that could cause you to fail to defeat an enemy army for a quest, but proceed as if you succeeded.
• Fixed numerous spelling errors.
Additional Changes
• Defunct telemetry has been completely removed.
• Blue Arrows have been updated. Shift + Click will now fast travel to the location the blue arrow is pointing to. Blue arrows now ignore regular mouse clicks to prevent accidental fast travelling.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a bug where exiting the game during a zombie invasion and then immediately loading a saved game or starting a new game would cause the zombie invasion to remain active in the new game.
• Fixed a few minor graphical bugs.
• Fixed the Soup Kitchen description to correctly display '+20% food consumption'.
Additional Changes
• The Education Building's reward description now specifically indicates whether it unlocks blueprint research.
• Space bar can still be used to gather resources after clicking on a harvest location, but only if you are still hovering over that location.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a bug where people with a very high dexterity skill were able to build a second location after constructing a building, which could cause additional bugs.
• Fixed a bug where 'Hover to Click' could be used to gather double resources.
• Fixed a rare bug causing a location to build beyond its maximum level.
• Fixed numerous small spelling/grammar issues.
Gameplay Changes
• Research book tabs have been locked to one side to prevent confusion.
• Added a 'Hover to Click' option in the options menu. Enabling this removes the need to click and hold to harvest resources.
• Added a smart tooltip to advise players about blueprints when hovering over them on the building menu.
• Adjusted some quest descriptions to make them clearer.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed some fishermen fishing in the middle of town.
• Fixed some research upgrades not appearing in the research book for the Farm and Hunting.
• Adjusted the Research Book's hitboxes to make it less prone to closing from slight misclicks.
• Fixed a rare issue that may have prevented the 'Buy' button for Magic trading from unlocking.
• Fixed numerous small graphics issues.
• Shrunk the hitbox of the blue arrows to reduce accidental clicks that zoom the camera to their location. (Blue arrows can be disabled in the options menu.)
Additional Changes
• Redesigned the save system to include backup saves and safeguards, making them more resilient to corruption from events such as power failures.
• Redesigned the Quest window to take up less vertical space.
