About the Game
Check if you could escape from prison.
The day has come when the book is no longer enjoyable, the jokes of the cellmates next door are no longer funny, and it's time to break out of this boring prison. Get some tools and start digging.
Ways to survive in prison.
Maybe you can trade with the guard for some goodies, maybe the guys will give you something better to dig in exchange for toilet paper.
Watch out for the guard's inspections, cover the carpet, remove the sand you dig up in the toilet, don't get caught. Get food, better shoes, and bigger shovels. Exercise to have more strength and energy, buy better backpacks to dig more valuable items from the ground.
Pimp the pad.
Maybe you can buy something from Mrs. Dorothy in the prison warehouse? Buy furniture, glow sticks, more beautiful carpets, and better toilets to remove the sand faster.
Get respect or get buried.
In Prison Escape Simulator, gambling isn’t just a pastime — it’s a way to gain influence. Money and reputation are all on the line. Every bet carries risk: you might get rich or end up in debt. Play smart, because in this prison, bluffing can be just as powerful as digging.
So, will you survive behind bars and prepare for the grand escape?
Read the letters with hints on how deep and in which direction to dig, and maybe one day you'll get out of prison?
In Prison Escape Simulator: Dig Out you can mine, trade, upgrade your cell and have tons of fun when no one is watching. A few hours of excitement for the price of a burger. Will you escape?

Official update history
Hey Prisoners
We're rolling out a small but important hotfix focused on controller input.
Controller Fixes
- Fixed a controller button conflict
A single gamepad button was incorrectly assigned to two different actions — drinking an energy drink and placing all items on the table. Both actions now have separate, correct bindings on the controller.
Thanks for playing and for all your reports. You're helping us keep the tunnels clean and the escapes smooth. Stay sharp out there!
Hey Prisoners
Today we're rolling out a small but important update that addresses the most commonly reported issues.
Fixes
- Disappearing furniture fixed (again, but this time permanently)
- We've reworked the system responsible for loading and maintaining furniture states. This fix should now be final, and the issue shouldn't return in future updates.
Gameplay Reminder
Stuck in a tunnel? Remember to crouch
Some tunnels are intentionally narrow. If you can't move forward, make sure you're crouching.

See you in the yard! 🗝️
We've just rolled out a small update that cleans up a little "creative chaos" around the prison. Some of you noticed that a few decorations were still hanging around like that one inmate who refuses to leave the yard after lights-out. Don't worry. We've taken care of it.
What's new (and slightly ridiculous)
All temporary decorations have been removed. The prison is now 87% less festive and 100% more prison‑y.
We've installed a new system that automatically disables similar decorations in the future. No more surprise pumpkins in July or random holiday lights during an escape attempt.
We're cooking up brand‑new content behind the scenes. Can't say much yet, but let's just say… the guards are nervous.
Thanks for sticking with us and keeping the prison in shape. More updates are coming. They won't require a mop and bucket afterward.
Greetings, Escapees!
As Christmas approaches, we want to send warm wishes to all of you digging your way to freedom. May your tunnels be sturdy, your plans clever, and your festive spirit unbroken!
✨ What's New in This Update:
- Underground Item Spawning Revamp: We've reworked the system so that items appear in more varied and surprising ways, making each dig more exciting and unpredictable.
- Improved Item Physics: Items now behave realistically once unearthed, adding immersion to your escape attempts.
- Christmas Decorations: Even behind bars, it's Christmas Eve. You'll notice festive touches throughout the prison to remind you that the Christmas spirit can't be locked away. (Could be disabled in game menu.)
- Minor Fixes & Tweaks: As always, we've squashed some bugs and polished gameplay to keep your escape smoother than ever.
Thank you for being part of our growing community. Stay crafty, stay festive, and keep digging!
Merry Christmas!

Bed fix Hey Escapees!
We've got some fresh news straight from the prison yard. In this latest update, we tackled one of the most frustrating issues: the bed that was sinking players into the floor.
Thanks for your patience and support. Now you can finally get some rest… without waking up under the floor! 😉
- Unity Security Update - We’ve applied the latest Unity security patch. Yes, the one everyone’s been talking about.
- Save Load Bug - We’ve fixed the issue where the in‑game clock could freeze at 5:00 (or other odd times) when loading a save. If you still experience problems with loading:
Please wait up to 3 minutes – in some cases the game may just need more time.
If nothing happens, try verifying the integrity of your game files via Steam.
If the issue persists, contact us at [email protected] – together we’ll get it sorted out.
Other Small Fixes
Known Issues
Steam Deck + keyboard & mouse: there’s a problem with “continuous digging.” In this setup, you’ll need to click repeatedly instead of holding the button. We’re working on a fix.
Thanks for sticking with us and sharing your feedback – it helps us keep improving Prison Escape Simulator: Dig Out.
See you in the tunnels!
- Safe quest item placement: Quest-related items now have a dedicated placement button. No more false dropping.
- Eat straight from the fridge: You can now eat directly from the fridge, even if it's placed with the door against the wall. No more hunger due to poor furniture rotation.
Keep digging!
Hey escape artists!
We’ve been tunneling through bugs and blasting through code to bring you a fresh batch of fixes and features. This update adds some long-awaited magic (and a bit of extra loading time) to your prison-breaking toolkit.
Patch Notes:
- Cloud Save is live! Your progress now floats safely in the cloud. Switch devices, reinstall the game, or survive a power outage, your tunnel stays intact. Heads up: the game might take a bit longer to load and save. That’s the cost of syncing your escape plan with the sky.
- Item spawn rebalanced in maximum security. Early tunnel stages were a bit too brutal. We’ve tweaked item spawns so you’re not stuck digging through dirt with a wooden stick and a dream.
- Dynamite tweaks. Blowing up rocks underground finally works as expected. No more awkward fizzles, just glorious, dusty explosions.
- Various minor fixes and tweaks. We squashed a few sneaky bugs, smoothed out some rough edges, and gave the game a little extra polish. You might not notice them all, but your escape should feel just a bit smoother.
Thanks for all your feedback and support. Keep digging, keep scheming, and remember: freedom is just one well-placed dynamite stick away.
If anything feels off, let us know at [email protected] or scream into the nearest vent. We’re listening.
We've significantly optimized memory and resource usage to ensure the game runs smoothly and smoothly on low-end devices. This should also prevent any crashes.
