Character Progression
All weapons are one handed, wear Sword, Daggers, Wands or Shield on any hand to create a unique build. (Shields are only left handed)
There are over 50 weapons, each with unique skills.
Apply status effects on any enemy, including bosses. Such as Bleed, Poison, Burn, Freeze, Shock, Choke, Shatter, Life Splash, Darkness or Light Struck.
Find tons of blessings, unique items that modifies your character builds.
Advance your character’s level to unlock a large variety of weapons, gear, and blessings.
Permanently upgrade your character and unlock additional options in future runs.
Map Progression
Traverse through 3 randomly generated maps. With unique enemies, backgrounds and random encounters.
Find random encounters that give unique rewards.
Find chests full of blessings.
Visit a shop where you can acquire weapons, gear and blessings.
Boost your health, mana or stamina by praying to the statue.
Use a blacksmith to smelt spare gear to upgrade your equipment.

I've seen quite a few people getting stuck on the Gorilla, so I felt he was a little too punishing, especially with Shatter guaranteeing crits, it didn't seem like fun way to die. I've given him a small nerf, along with a few other fixes.
Changes
- Gorilla Headbutt: 24–25 -> 22–23 damage
- Earth Projectile: 25–26 -> 21–22 damage
- Gorilla projectiles: 60% -> 40% Shatter Apply Rate
- Fixed Illdrake Mage projectiles firing the wrong direction.
- Increased the success chance of the final option in the Skeleton fungi-stealing event by 10%, making the "A Bone To Poke" achievement easier to obtain.
- Small performance and optimisation improvements.
I have also awesome news that Rogue Blight has been accepted for Steam Trading Cards! Still getting the artwork ready, but I'll let you know when they're live.

This patch focuses mainly on performance and optimisation, particularly addressing lag spikes that could occur when large numbers of projectiles are spawned, especially on lower-end PCs.
Optimisation
- The majority of projectiles throughout the game are now object pooled.
- Reduced unnecessary projectile and background particle counts.
- Added a save recovery safety check in case of save file corruption. As a last resort, the game can now attempt to recover the save file, although the current map will need to be abandoned.
- Added several Steam Deck-specific optimisations.
For Steam Deck, I recommend using the Linux build, as it currently provides slightly better framerate.
To enable it:
Steam → Rogue Blight → Properties → Compatibility → Enable "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" → Steam Linux Runtime 1.0

In the last patch, I fixed a bunch of issues with PlayStation controllers, but unfortunately this introduced a small lag spike whenever game detects switching between keyboard/mouse and controller.
Normally, this wouldn't cause any issues, but some controllers, such as the Xbox Razer Chroma V2 Controller, can sometimes be detected as both a keyboard/mouse and a controller at the same time. This could cause noticeable lag while playing with those controllers.
This should now be fixed. Sorry about that, and thanks for your patience!

First of all, thank you so much for playing Rogue Blight. I’m honestly still having a hard time believing how many people are playing and enjoying the game. I wasn't expecting this.
I’m just one developer, so some things may take a little time, but I’ll do everything I can to keep improving Rogue Blight and make it as good as it can possibly be.
This patch mainly focuses on fixing controller issues, especially those affecting PlayStation controllers. I’ve also taken care of a few other bugs that were reported, as well as addressing some boss balance issues brought up by the community, particularly Broodmother!

Changes:
Fixes & Improvements
- PlayStation controller is now fully supported. Please disable Steam Input in game properties on steam, to see PlayStation button prompts. Any person that downloads the game from this patch onwards, will have Steam Input disabled for PlayStation controller.
- Fixed controller rebinding issues when trying to bind (Xbox) A, or (PS) X button.
- Fixed an issue where being parried by an enemy would not trigger the correct long stun animation.
- Potion Potency buffs now work outside of combat.
- Nomsa will no longer give Strike Wands when selecting the INT option in Challenge Maps.
- Fixed several Korean localization issues where some armor names pointed to the wrong items.
Jeser Balance
- Long Stab: Damage reduced from 29–30 → 25–26.
- Small Stab: Damage reduced from 20–21 → 17–18.
Plague Herald Balance
- Spinning Scythe: Damage increased from 6–7 → 8–9.
Broodmother Balance
- Poison Puddle: Damage reduced from 3–4 → 2–3 per tick.
- Poison Puddle: Poison application rate reduced from 12% → 10%.
- Claw: Damage reduced from 19–20 → 17–18.
- Bite: Damage reduced from 33–35 → 30–31.
- Body Fall: Damage reduced from 34–35 → 31–32.

Just another quick patch fixing some of the reported issues. This patch also includes a lots of localization improvements. I’m still working through everything that has been reported and will continue working on fixes in the coming patches.
Changes:
Important Bug Fix:
Some save files could become corrupted. (If you loaded your game and got a black screen.) This has now been fixed, and your save file should recover and work correctly. You will be taken to the Sanctuary. Sorry about this one!
Optimisation:
* Enabled object pooling for the Final Boss. This should eliminate lag spikes when he summons projectiles.
* Enabled object pooling for the Tide Root Boss. This should eliminate lag spikes when it summons projectiles.
Localization:
* Improved German localization throughout the game and for achievements. (Thank you, Akarnor!)

* Max Brightness setting can now be increased by an additional 25%.

I was working on a larger patch, but I noticed a few reports of issues affecting ultrawide displays. So, rather than making you wait for the bigger update, I decided to push out this hotfix to address those issues with ultrawide.
I’ve also listened to your feedback about Starting Gear not having enough of an impact, so I’ve rebalanced it to make your starting choices feel more meaningful.
Changes:
Bug Fix:
Fixed the Blacksmith and Shop UIs not scaling correctly in later areas of the game when playing on ultrawide monitors.
Starting Gear Balance:
Gorilla: Each piece now increases Crit Chance by 3% (up from 1.5%).
Bloody Gorilla: Each piece now increases Crit Damage by 4% (up from 2%).
Wendigo: Each piece now increases DEX by 2 (up from 1).
Statue: Each piece now provides +3 DEF and +3 Bonus Elemental Resistance (up from 2).
Statue Flesh: Each piece now increases Resistance by 3% (up from 2%).
Drake: Each piece now increases STR by 2 (up from 1).
IllDrake: Each piece now increases Aerial Attack Damage by 15% (up from 10%).
Jester: Each piece now increases Potion Potency by 10% (up from 5%).
Twisted Jester: Gold gained increased to 5% (up from 3%).
Fungi Armor: Each piece now increases INT by 2 (up from 1).
Sorry it’s taken me this long, but the next issue I’m finally tackling is the frame rate drops that can occur during certain boss fights when they spawn too many projectiles.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed an issue where Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, and Ukrainian could sometimes display ▢ instead of certain characters. These languages should now display all characters correctly.
Localization:
- Corrected several spelling mistakes in the Spanish localization.
- Corrected French localization issues related to gender-specific text.
I just want to mention that the next things I’m planning to address are some lag spikes that can occur during certain fights, as well as adding native PlayStation controller support.

Just a quick small hot fix!
Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where being stunned by an enemy while frozen and standing on the ground could cause the player to glitch out and become unable to move properly until jumping.
Localization:
- Corrected some of English localization (one of them was "Gold Stealen" instead of "Gold Stolen")
- Corrected some Spanish localization spelling mistakes (thank you to 𝕷𝖔𝖗𝖉𝖆𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖆𝖗𝖔𝖙𝖍)
Improvements: Zoker's Pants now properly cover the boots armor.
Thank you so much for playing! I honestly can’t believe how much attention the game is getting. It’s truly humbling to see so many people enjoying something I’ve poured so much time and effort into.
I just wanted to mention a few issues with the game that I’m currently working on:
- Localization: Some languages are missing certain characters, which are being displayed as boxes. I’ve specifically noticed this with Japanese and Russian. Interestingly, this issue doesn’t occur on my computer, so I’m looking into why it happens on some systems.
- Steam Deck support: I’m working on improving Steam Deck support, including increasing the font size since some text is currently a bit too small.
- PlayStation controller support: There are currently some issues with PlayStation controllers when Steam Input is disabled. If you disable Steam Input, you’ll get the correct PlayStation button prompts, but when defending with a shield, your character will always face left. I’ve ordered a PS5 controller so I can properly test this and try to fix the issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, I recommend keeping Steam Input enabled when using a PlayStation controller. Unfortunately, this will have the side effect of displaying Xbox controller prompts for now.

Bug Fixes
Achievements now unlock correctly. If you've beaten the demo multiple times before this fix, simply visit the Sanctuary and any previously earned achievements will unlock automatically.
The Cartographer's Chart and Map Fragment blessings no longer appear on higher difficulties. These blessings have been removed from the demo version, as they currently provide no benefit.

We’ve updated the game’s Unity version from 2022.3.24f1 to 2022.3.62f2, which includes important security fixes from Unity. This update was necessary due to a recent Unity vulnerability, and getting everything working again was quite a challenge since we’re already pretty far into development.
Huge thanks to everyone for your patience and support during this process, it really means a lot.
We’ll also be rolling out a solid demo patch for Steam Next Fest, with improvements and refinements based on community feedback.

Just a quick patch with some QoL improvements.
Bug Fix:
- Anvil blessing now provides the correct amount of extra smelt points for smelting.
- Pressing the right D-pad on the map's rightmost node no longer selects blessings under player stats.
- When opening gear selection, it now automatically selects the first gear in the inventory instead of the back button.
- Improved functionality of the mouse scroll wheel on the map and in the inventory.
- Fixed a misspelling in Polish in the opening cutscene.
