Welcome to the Vanderboom house, home to the infamous Vanderboom family! Visitors are arriving soon, and you are meant to start your housekeeping duties immediately!
Solve the puzzles needed to fulfil your daily tasks, look after the household, welcome the visitor and ensure their comfort while helping the family achieve their alchemical ambitions!
Servant of the Lake is the new premium point-and-click adventure in the Rusty Lake series from the creators of the Cube Escape series, The Past Within and Underground Blossom.

Going back to our Roots - Servant of the Lake is a classic single-player Rusty Lake point-and-click adventure set in the infamous Vanderboom house during the era of Aldous and William Vanderboom.
Solve surreal puzzles – Expect to go from simple tasks such as straightening the family portraits and doing the laundry to assisting in complex experiments and cleaning up the aftermath.
Unravel a dark narrative – Live through events set decades before Rusty Lake: Roots! As the servant of the Vanderboom estate, you can explore each room of The House while making sure the family is looked after. Do you think you can survive the weekend?
Immersive soundtrack - Haunting melodies composed and performed by Victor Butzelaar to keep you company while puzzling your way through your daily, usual and unusual tasks.

- Increased the hitbox of a certain glass in the game: The one Aldous holds in the Alchemy level.
- Fixed the vignette during the intro sequence in windowed mode.
- Fixed a sound issue involving a mouse in the Vanderboom Bathroom.
- Fixed being able to replicate a certain achievement involving copious amounts of exercise
- Extended the credits
- Made changes to the Steam API to hopefully fix achievements not unlocking for some people.
- Fixed an issue where you couldn't open the Notebook right away in certain situations.

Hi everyone, thank you for playing Servant of the Lake
Since our last update 1.6.2 we noticed some players having a crash at startup. This hotfix should solve this issue. It might also fix flickering screens or other visual issues that started since patch 1.6.2.

Hey everyone! Thank you all so much for playing Servant of the Lake. After the initial hot fixes we pushed out to address a critical problem with the game we're happy to announce all major game breaking issues should now be resolved! We will continue polishing and improving the game to make sure your stay at the Vanderboom Estate is the best it can be. Without further ado here are the first "proper" patch notes for Servant of the Lake:
Patch Notes 1.6.2
System Updates
You can now resize the window while playing in windowed mode (Windows only).
Fixed the game getting stuck on Playing... or Stopping... in your Steam Library.
You can now toggle rumble in the settings on Steam Deck.
Fixed the reset game button not working properly while playing a level.
Notebook Fixes
Fixed an issue where the notebook would disappear, it should be back after updating and data will be intact.
Fixed an issue where players did not get a certain character's (Kate) note in their archive after completing the game, it should now be there.
Gameplay Fixes
Fixed the lack of bullets after a load during the Hunt on Day 2.
Fixed Steam Deck rumble going out of control when visiting a shed during the Hunt on Day 2.
Fixed being unable to zoom in on the cat during Maintenance on Day 3.
Fixed an issue where you were unable to progress the Closing Dinner on Day 3.

Rusty Lake
Like announced earlier we discovered a critical error which causes our savefile system to corrupt when you switch off Servant of the Lake while in a level / screen transition. We've identified the problem and this issue should now be fixed. On top of that we've found a way to salvage corrupted save files so if you're missing any items please download this update ASAP so you can continue playing.
we are extremely sorry for this inconvenience but nevertheless thank you for your patience and your support!
If at any point you had to reset your game and you'd like to restore your progress, please reach out to us on [email protected] and we'll get you a save file so you can continue where you left off!

Found a way to recover your save file so you can continue playing like nothing happened!

Like we announced earlier we discoverd a critical error which caused save files to corrupt when you switch off Servant of the Lake while in a level / screen transition (closing the game, alt+tabbing, etc.). We've identified the problem and this issue should now be fixed.
Unfortunately if you were affected by this bug you can no longer use your save file and will have to start over. If you'd like us to send you a save-file from the moment in game you had to re-start please send us an email at [email protected] and we can assist you so you can continue your game where you left off!

Patch Notes
- Fixed switching screens while in a level / screen transition corrupting your save file.
Unfortunately, the previous version of the game has corrupted the save file and your game has to be restarted after the update.
We've also found there is still an issue when ALT+TAB-ing while playing that also corrupts the save files at the moment, so try not to switch screens while playing.
If you'd like us to send you a save-file from the moment in game you had to re-start please also send us an email at [email protected] and we can assist you so you can continue your game where you left off! Also please email us if you have any other issues.
