About the Game
Space Mechanic Simulator is not just another mechanic game where your only job is to fix some parts. All the parts in this game are simulated, which makes the gameplay more immersive and lifelike. You can't simply disconnect a pipe before closing a valve, and sometimes you won't even know what is broken until you check the schematics and diagnose the problem using your tools. All of this takes place while you're floating in zero gravity or in complete darkness while orbiting on the dark side of a planet.
Fortunately, you are well-prepared for all of this. Your spacesuit has a powerful flashlight and thruster automation that helps you stabilize when needed. Just be careful not to run low on oxygen, fuel, or energy, as you'll have to fly back to your shuttle to replenish everything. Of course, you could always take a bit of risk and cut it close, but time is money, after all.
Naturally, it would be very unprofessional to throw a new astronaut into all of this without proper training. As you progress through the game, you'll unlock tutorials that can give you licenses for new tools and new activities. You'll start with simple mechanical repairs and diagnostics with infrared cameras and sensors built into devices, and eventually work your way up to electric repairs and even programming devices. You can also earn extra cash by learning how to mine for resources instead of having to buy them.
Realism and struggle or fun and fiction?
This game aims to strike a balance between complex, overwhelming realism and the fun of simplicity and familiarity. You won't be fixing any dark matter reactors or warp drives. On the contrary, many of the devices you'll encounter are based on actual devices used in real industry here on Earth. You'll be measuring electric signals, temperatures, and pressures using specific tools, comparing information with diagrams, and following the link to find the root of the problem.
The Beauty of Space
As the game takes place in the Solar System, you won't see colorful nebulas, binary stars, or black holes in Space Mechanic Simulator. When creating a space game in our neighborhood, you can't just make things up. Fortunately, you don't have to. The graphics in the game focus on emphasizing the overwhelming scale of celestial bodies as you, a tiny human, fly around them in various orbits. You'll see the light reflected off the planet's surface as it illuminates your space shuttle or a shadow cast by the Moon on the surface of the Earth as you get a different perspective on a solar eclipse than any other human down on the planet's surface.
You can fix a satellite that's chasing and observing a comet or fly low above the surface of a gas giant with supersonic winds while recovering scientific data from a broken drone. You can gaze upon the Sun from its orbit or look at Earth from a front-row seat on the Moon's surface. Or simply chill as you watch the famous blue sunset on Mars.
Our approach to making space look good in the game was to create an artistic vision of the Solar System that can pass as realistic. We applied "the rule of cool" while being careful not to go over the top with anything. The result is a game that offers you a unique and memorable experience of our system that will make you want to launch the game the next day and immerse yourself in this strangely magnetic environment from the tiny interior of your spacesuit.

Hello Space Mechanics!
AstrOpticon technicians worked very hard to deliver the new update. After weeks of intense work, patch 1.3 has just landed, bringing 61 achievements to the game that you can hunt for. They will provide further challenges and hopefully encourage you to explore even more. In addition, it brings bug fixes and improvements to the game itself. Last but not the lease, we have introduced the concept of travel costs and piloting license, to increase realism a little. Solar system will no longer seem as a flat list of missions available in one spot. Mission location will have to be considered when selecting a new assignment. For practical reasons, travel will not be expensive in the game, but it's still a factor.
Full patch notes:
- added Steam achievements
- added piloting license and travel costs
- fixed issues with mouse cursor not properly hidden and restored while looking around
- added variety to starting orbit position (daytime) for many missions
- improved visuals for Jupiter
- fixed some issues with Neptune rendering
- slight adjustments to visuals for Mars
- smoothed animation of asteroids
- adjusted text padding on object identification hint

Hello Space Mechanics!
While not introducing any new content, 1.2.1 patch brings quality of life features and bug fixes to make your job in space more pleasant. We worked very hard on translation improvements, fixed some minor graphical bugs. We added illumination to the tools and eliminated the problem of the system cursor appearing during maneuvers in space. You will also find that our tools have been upgraded with slightly fluorescent paint for button markings. To make matters even better, we managed to upgrade the optics of your IR Cameras. They're now capable of measuring objects regardless of distance, including planets and distant galaxies.
Full patch notes:
- Updated infrared rendering, including background objects
- Fixed issue with infrared rendering, causing some heat sources not being visible
- Fixed issue with simulation not reacting properly to blocked or leaking pipes
- Fixed issue showing training missions as available in some cases when player already had given license
- Changed training pricing policy - repeating a training mission is now free of charge
- Fixed issues with gamepad control of trade sliders
- Added configuration options to trade sliders
- Separated new campaign panel from load game panel in main menu and moved difficulty selection to popup panel
- Astronaut tool screens now emit light and markings on buttons are slightly fluorescent, never fading entirely to black
- Fixed behavior of "Game over" screen
- Fixed a small glitch in Mars sky seen from surface
- Fixed bug allowing player to attach part from inventory onto already attached part in the setting
- Hiding mouse cursor when looking around
- Updated descriptions of various license levels
Known issues
- Some logos on objects have unwanted bloom

- custom difficulty settings that allow separately configure behavior of hint system, economy, resource drain and markers
- added confirmation button to trade slider with auto-confirm checkbox
- fixed issue with trade slider not properly working with item trade
- fixed wrong label on item trade slider saying "trade resources"
- added cable holders to some electric boxes to make cable layout cleaner
- fixed troublesome colliders on one of space objects, that could make clicking on some elements difficult at certain angles

This is a major update that unlocks the potential of this game, bringing more depth to gameplay.
When given a mission, you will not be pointed directly to damaged parts. Instead, you will be pointed to an antenna, pump or other equipment that fails to perform its function. It will be your job to discover where the actual cause is. In many cases, one symptom can be the result of multiple overlapping malfunctions that all need to be discovered and dealt with.
This is where all the training and tools you bring with you really start to pay off. Get to know the satellites and bases you're working with and understand how one thing affects another. Check if batteries get a proper charge signal and if not, inspect solar panels looking for visual damage. Yes, they're detachable now!
And if you just want to relax, you can change game difficulty at any moment from in game menu - you will still get full guidance at easier levels.
You will also find multiple quality of life improvements, such as new trade slider or wire highlighting on diagrams.
We hope you will have a lot of fun with this update, and rest assured - we're not done yet! Another major update is nearly complete - Moon and Mars surface missions with rover!
